Quick Start Guide
The following procedure enables advanced users to get their switch up and running in the shortest
possible time. For detailed installation instructions, refer to the sections in the right column below.

1. Find a Location for the Switch
Settheswitch on a flat surface or mountitin a standard rack (1 rack unithigh) usingthe supplied
rack-mounting hardwarebrackets.

2. Connect to the 10/100/1000 Mbps Switch Ports
•Connect one end of a Category 5 or better Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port of a computer,
printer,network storage,or other network device.
•Connect theother end to a 10/100/1000Mbps RJ-45 port on the switch designated 1through
8.
•Repeat thisstep foreach additional deviceyouwantto connectto the 10/100/1000Mbps
ports.

3. PowerOn
•Connect the femaleend of the supplied AC poweradapter cable to the powerreceptacle on
thebackof the switch.
•Connectthe3-prongedendoftheACpoweradaptercabletoagrounded3-prongedACoutlet.
•Move the ON/OFF switchon the rear panel of the switch to the ON position.
•Wait for the switch to complete its PowerOn Self Test.
•Confirm that the LEDs for ports connected to a deviceare green. If not, replace theEthernet
cable, and then check the port LED again.

4. Configure the Switch
•ConfigureaPCforsubnet192.168.2.n,wherenis anumberotherthan1 in therange0to255.
•Connect the PCtoa 10/100MbpsRJ-45 port onthe switch,launch abrowser,andspecifythe
switch’s default IP address 192.168.2.1.
•At the initial page, type admin in the Password field, and then click Apply.
•ClickConfiguration > System.
•If your switch will beusedwith a DHCP server thatallocates IP addresses automatically,
checkDHCP Enabled. Otherwise, leave DHCP Enabled unchecked and complete the
followingfields: FallbackIP Address,Fallback SubnetMask, and Fallback Gateway.
•Next to Name, enter a new case-sensitive username.
•Next to Password, enter a new case-sensitive password.
•Change anyother settings,as necessary.
•ClickApply.
