Description

HP StorageWorks B-series Data Center Fabric Manager (DCFM) is HP's next-generation fabric

management application and the successor to its legacy fabric management application, HP

StorageWorks Fabric Manager (FM).

New hardware platforms

DCFM 10.3.0 introduced support for the following new hardware platforms:

•HP StorageWorks 2408 FCoE Converged Network Switch (earlier versions only supported Discovery

for this switch)

•HP StorageWorks 1606 Extension SAN Switch

•HP StorageWorks DC SAN Director Multiprotocol Extension Blade

•HP StorageWorks DC SAN Director Switch 10/24 FCoE Blade

New software features

DCFM 10.3.0 introduced support for the following new software features:

•DCFM Professional Plus—A new product in the DCFM product line designed for medium-sized

businesses or departmental storage networks

•Uses the same binary as DCFM Enterprise, but with limited features and scalability

•Supports up to 4 fabrics and 2,560 switch ports

•Supports the same hardware platforms as DCFM Enterprise, with the exception of the HP

StorageWorks DC SAN Backbone Director

•Supports fabrics that contain only M-EOS switches

•Does not support FICON

•Can be upgraded to DCFM Enterprise with a license-key update

•Support for fabrics with only M-EOS switches by adding discovery functionality to M-EOS switches

•M-EOS V9.6.xor later is required for seed switch compatibility.

•An M-EOS seed switch with firmware earlier than V9.9.2 supports the following fabric member

information:

•Domain ID

•Switch WWN

•Topology

•An M-EOS seed switch with firmware V9.9.2 or later supports the following fabric member

information, in addition to the information supported by earlier versions:

Enhancements

B-series OUI support enhancement

In the first half of 2010, a new Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUI) began phasing into B-series

platforms. DCFM 10.3.4 adds support for this OUI. For more information, see “New OUI support on

B-series platforms”on page 11.

LDAP enhancements

•The administrator/root user has an option to select one of the following conditions in which the

DCFM Authentication falls back to the Secondary Authentication (Local DB):

•LDAP Servers are not reachable

•User not found in LDAP

Encryption enhancements

•All DCFM editions support the encryption switch and director encryption blade:

•DCFM Professional

•DCFM Professional Plus

•DCFM Enterprise

•Quorum card support

•System card support

•Added clustered key vault configuration for HP-SKM

•Key vault credentials support for SKM

FCIP enhancements

•Support for new features introduced with the HP StorageWorks 1606 Extension SAN Switch and

HP StorageWorks DC SAN Director Multiprotocol Extension Blade

•Comprehensive FCIP Tunnels Configuration dialog (replaces existing FCIP Tunnel wizard)

•Enhancements for Circuit Properties, Tunnel Properties, Connection Properties, Switch Properties,

Flyovers, and the Topology view

•Ability to view all tunnels discovered by DCFM across all fabrics

•Introduced Circuit Configuration for the tunnels in HP StorageWorks 1606 Extension SAN Switch

and HP StorageWorks DC SAN Director Multiprotocol Extension Blade

•Ability to view performance statistics of FCIP tunnels for HP StorageWorks 1606 Extension SAN

•PDCM dialog–Changed from Modal to Non-Modal dialog

Reliability, availability, and serviceability enhancements

•DCFM SupportSave enhancements:

•Configure a user-determined interval at which SupportSaves are automatically captured from

specified switches

•Includes Brocade HBA SupportSave

•Increased the number of simultaneous switch SupportSave captures from 10 to 50

•Policy Engine improvement:

•Added an action to capture switch SupportSave in the Event Policy dialog

•Added a facility to register switches in upload failure data capture destination

•Added a facility to register DCFM as a trace dump destination

•Added Port Fencing policies for Class 3 frame drops

•Fault Management improvements:

•Receive syslog events from HBAs

•Increased the default value of the maximum number of events stored in the database from

10,000 to 20,000, with a maximum supported value of 50,000

•Added support to optionally back up the FTP folder, Technical Support folder, and Trace dump

folder

•System Monitor process improvement:

•Generates a Master Log event when memory usage is ≥80% and disk space usage is ≥90%

•Audit Log improvement:

•All important user actions generate application events

•Debug logging improvements:

•Log messages at the appropriate level to prevent the rollover of logs

•Increase default size of log files from 5 MB to 10 MB

•Isolate failures to small-grained tasks (for example, failure to collect one piece of data due to

errors will not prevent collection of remaining data)

•Include data source name to avoid ambiguity (multiple data collection sources)

Zoning enhancements

•Active Traffic Isolation (TI) zone enhancements:

•Active TI zone information is collected by DCFM and persisted in the database.

•Displays differences between the active TI zone and the defined TI zone in the zone database.

•Active TI zone members appear in the Active Zone Configuration tab.

•Added an Active Status display to the TI Zones Properties dialog.

•Policy to allow users to control the number of zone database modifications:

•Set limits on the number of editing operations (such as add, remove, or modify) that the user

can perform in zones, zone configurations, aliases, or on zone members before activation.

•Set policy by fabric because limits can vary (for example, disk limits can be different than tape

limits) .

•Warn users when a policy is exceeded, and prevent users from proceeding.

•Support for Quality of Service (QoS) Domain, Index Zones

Other enhancements

•Role-based access control (RBAC) enhancements:

•Added a Hosts tab to the Add/Edit Resource Group dialog to assign resources as a fabric or

host

•Added new default user roles: Network Administrator and Host Administrator

•Added new user privileges: Host Management, Active Session Management, FCoE Manage-

ment, CEE Management, and Zoning Set-Edit Limits

•Event Storage Enhancements in Options dialog enhancements:

•Increase the default event count from 5,000 to 20,000 in DCFM Enterprise and Professional

Plus

•The maximum configurable limit is 50,000 in DCFM Enterprise and Professional Plus

•DCFM Active Sessions enhancements:

•Now shows active client sessions logged in to the DCFM server

•Users with Active Session Management privilege set to Read Write can disconnect active clients

•Switch Configuration Management improvements:

•Added a Configuration Type column to identify the configuration file type as CEE or FC

•New HCM Upgrade tab

•Added a new HCM Upgrade tab to SMC to facilitate upgrading HCM in DCFM

•Backup dialog enhancements:

•Added the following check boxes:

•Include FTP Root Directory

•Include Technical Support Directory

•Include Upload Failure Data Capture Directory

•SNMPv3 enhancements:

•Option to choose either v3 traps or Informs

•Ability to configure at the fabric level from the Standalone dialog (instead of Discovery dialog)

•Supported with FOS 6.3 or later

•Support for 239 DID mode and offsets display (native connectivity with M-series switches)

•Port Auto Disable policy for any of the following conditions:

•Loss Of Sync

•Loss Of Signal

•Non Operational Primitive Sequence

•Loop Initialize Process

•Offline Primitive Sequence

Supported switches and firmware

Table 1 lists switches and firmware families supported with this release. This does not imply that all

firmware versions listed in the left column are still supported by HP, but rather that those are the

firmware streams on which the corresponding switches are, or were, supported. It also does not imply

that all the firmware listed streams are supported on each of the corresponding switches. HP

recommends using the latest software versions to get the greatest benefit from the SAN.
