This Magellan receiver is avehicle-navigation aid designed to

assist you in arriving to

your

selected destinations. When using

this Magellan product, these safety rules must

followed to

prevent accidents that can result

injury or death to yourself or

others:

•Please check with your state or local law enforcement for

applicable regulations regarding mounting

Installation

Choose aLocation. The Magellan RoadMate receiver needs aclear

view

the sky to receive signals from the GPS satellites so choose a

location with

unobstructed view

the sky, commonly on or near the

windshield.

Clean the Surface. Clean the area

the windshield and allow the

surface to dry before attaching the mount.

Install the Car Cradle.

Attach the USB connector to

the cradle

shown. Hold

the cradle assembly firmly

against the window surface

and push lever towards the

base.

Attach the Receiver.

Connect Power. It is recommended that you connect the Magellan

RoadMate using the vehicle power cable before using for the first time.

The internal battery will begin charging as soon

power

supplied to

the Magellan RoadMate through the vehicle power cable. (When the

light on the vehicle power cable illuminates, it is properly connected to

vehicle power. Note some vehicles require that the ignition be on before

power is delivered to the power receptacle.)

Power

Slide the power switch (A) to the left to turn the receiver on.

The first time you use the Magellan RoadMate it may take up to 4

minutes to compute your location under normal conditions. With

adverse conditions (not having aclear view of the sky) the time to

compute your location the first time can greatly increase.

Satellite Signal Strength

view the satellite signal strength indicator, tap

the Menu button.

The signal strength indicator can be found

the upper right corner.

signals. Unable to

compute position.

If you are not getting your current location, use these tips to improve

satellite signal reception.

Leave the garage or parking structure

the GPS receiver has a

clear view of the sky.

Satellite signals can be blocked by tall buildings or

Battery

The Magellan RoadMate has

internal battery that

charged

whenever the receiver

OneTouch Menu

The OneTouch menu provides easy access to destinations and

searches you use most. Some buttons are assigned by default while

others can by assigned by you. User-assigned buttons can be

commonly used destinations or POI searches.

Saving Searches.

Tap

the Assign button and you will

Emergency

Button.

The OneTouch display has an Emergency button

that, while it is hoped you never have to use

it,

can provide immediate

directions and phone information for the nearest police station, hospital,

automotive repair facility.

QuickSpell

Your Magellan RoadMate receiver

uses afeature known as

QuickSpell for entering cities and

streets. QuickSpell displays only

those keys that could

used to

enter acity

address that is

the

receiver's memory. For example,

the screen shown here for street

entry, only the letters that spell a

street are displayed. This greatly reduces the chance for errors as well

speeds up the address entry process.

Tapping the checkmark (Street entry) or List button (City Name entry) to

bring up alist

streets or cities that begin with the letters entered.

When the available cities or streets

short, the receiver will

automatically switch to the list, displaying those items that begin with the

letters you've entered.

Another way the Magellan

RoadMate makes entering

address easy is through the use

Smart City Search. The Magellan

RoadMate receiver uses your

location as well as cities you've

created routes to before to try to

figure out the city you are looking

for. As you enter characters, the

'computed' city is displayed at the top

the screen.

Ifyou tap on the city at the top of the display

on the green checkmark,

it is selected as your destination city and you are then required to enter

the street. Tap on LIST when the button is active to bring up the list of

cities beginning with the characters you've entered. (Note that if the

number

cities that begin with the characters you've entered is short,

the list is automatically displayed.)
