3INTRODUCTION

The cale are all ba ed on re i tance train gauge load cell . The load

cell output a mall voltage in re pon e to a load placed on the weighing

platform. The voltage i in the range of approximately 10mv for a full

capacity load.

The ignal from the load cell i pre ented directly to an A/D converter for

conver ion to a digital value for u e by the microproce or.

It may be nece ary to replace a load cell if it i damaged.

The load cell connection are:

Before any change are made to the cale, it will be nece ary to

trouble- hoot the problem and determine the be t method to olve the

problem . Refer to the Trouble- hooting Guide for ugge tion .

4 REMOVING

THE

COVER

If it become required to remove the cover, you hould be very careful

a pulling or pre ing on the load cell during thi procedure can damage

it very ea ily.

When removing the crew (4 mall crew below the cale) hold the

cover to the ba e and en ure not to pre on the balance ca e a the

load cell can be damaged. The load cell i attached to the ba e.

The load cell are protected by overload and under-load top . The e

top are either plate that contact the cover or crew that are

acce ible from the out ide of the cale .

Refer to the Trouble- hooting Guide for the po ible cau e of any

problem.

A/D

COUNTS

Pre [Unit] fir t and then pre [On/Off], while keeping the [Unit] key

pre ed to enter the dealer parameter . The di play will how the

ver ion number and then reque t pa word .

Pre [Unit],[Unit], [T re], [Unit], [Unit] in equence to enter the etting

mode.

Pre the [Unit] key everal time until you enter the calibration etting .

Then you can ee the A/D count.

To ee the every divi ion A/D count ,for example: the CQT202 with the

readability 0.01g.

Fir t record the current A/D count, e.g 43860, then put on the 1g weight

to ee the new A/D Count ,eg:44198. So the divi ion A/D count i

(44198-43860)/100=3.38. The count hould bigger than 3.

©Adam Equipment Company 2011

If the divi ion A/D count are out ide thi range or cannot be een then

it will be nece ary to trouble hoot the load cell, load cell connection

to verify the load cell i working correctly and ha not been damaged.

The mo t common rea on for a cale to fail i that the load cell ha been

damaged. The damage can be due to two primary cau e . The fir t i

the phy ical damage due to an overload or an impact from the ide and

the econd i damage due to the environment, uch a moi ture,

extreme heat or a cut cable if the cable are expo ed.

With the CQT cale it i po ible the load cell i damaged uch that the

cale till operate when the cale i calibrated but not when a mall

ma i put on the pan. Thi will become apparent when the cale read

correctly at the calibration ma but i not correct at lower ma e . The

cale may till zero OK after power i applied but it will not regi ter a

weight value for maller weight .

Check the A/D count in thi ca e.

6PRINCIPLE

OPERATION

The train gauge load cell i a method of mea uring the amount of tre

put onto a metal tructure due to a weight being upported by the

tructure. The tre i mea ured u ing 4 train gauge en or mounted

in a particular way on the metal tructure.

The e 4 train gauge are connected in uch a way that they form a

Wheat tone bridge. See the figure below. In the imple t load cell

there are only the 4 re i tance of the train gauge to con ider.

Normally without a load on the load cell, all the re i tance are the

ame. However, when the load cell ha a weight on it, two of the train

gauge will be in compre ion (A and D) and the re i tance will decrea e

and the other two will be in ten ion (B and C) and their re i tance will

increa e.

Thi will cau e the bridge to become unbalanced. When the bridge ha a

voltage acro it from +E to -E then the ignal output at +S and -S will

how a voltage of zero volt with no load and a mall voltage

proportional to the load a the load i increa ed. Typical load cell how

10mv of ignal if the excitation voltage i 5volt and the load cell i fully

loaded.

To check the load cell, apply power to the cale and mea ure a voltage

between the S+ and S- wire when de- oldered from the PCB. The

voltage hould be le than 2millivolt with no load on the cale,

increa ing a the load i applied. The voltage between the E+ and E-

wire hould be 5V.

DEALER PARAMETERS

•Pre [Unit] fir t and then pre [On/Off], while keeping the

[Unit] key pre ed to enter the dealer parameter . The

di play will how “Cqt-1.0 Cqt” “080410 Cqt” and then

reque t pa word .

•Pre [Unit], [Unit], [T re], [Unit], [Unit] in equence to

enter the etting mode.

7.1

FILTER

•The di play how “Cqt-1.0 Cqt”and“080410 Cqt”, 1 econd

later the balance will enter filter etting and the LCD will

how “X FIL”. “X” i the value for the amount of filtering to

be done. Set a value of 1 to 6. A larger number i more

filtering and a lower re pon e. Default i “1”.

•Pre [T re] key to croll through the option .

•Pre [Unit] to confirm and enter zero tracking range

etting.

7.2

ZERO TRACKING RANGE

•When enter zero tracking range etting, the di play will

how “X ZEO”. X i the value for the amount of auto-zero

range. Set a value of 1 to 7. A larger number i a larger

range. Default i “1”.

•Pre [T re] key to croll through the option .

•Pre [Unit] to confirm and enter linearity calibration point

etting.

7.3

LINEARITY CALIBRATION POINT

•Thi function mean etting a point to u e in linearity

calibration.

•When enter linearity calibration point etting, the di play

will how “X LID”. “X” i the value for point number. Set a

value of 0 to 5. “0” mean the point i at 1/3 of capacity, “1”

i 1/2, “2” i 2/3, “3” i 5/6, “4” i 6/7, “5” i 1. Default i

“0”.

•Pre [T re] key to croll through the option .
