USE
Filling the water tank
Afterunpacking,removethewatertankfromthemachineandremovethecapatthe
bottomofthetank.Rinsethetankwithcleanwaterandwipedry.
Pourcleanandcoldwaterintothetankandputthelidbackon.Whenllingthetank,
alwaysfollowtheminimumandmaximumlinesmarkedonthewaterlevelwindow.
Neveroverllthetankandmakesurethelidison.
Warning:Neverrellthewatertankwhileitisinstalledinthecoffeemachine.Ifyou
needtollthetank,alwaysturnoffthemachinerst,unplugthepowerplugand
remove the reservoir.

Before rst use
Toensurethatyourrstcupofcoffeepreparedinthiscoffeemachinetastesasexpect-
ed,werecommendrinsingtheappliancebeforeusingitforthersttime.Theproce-
dureisasfollows:
• InserttheleverwithportalterintotheapplianceundertheLOCKmarksothatthe
protrusionsontheholdertintothesteamhead.Turnthelevercounterclockwise
totheCLOSEpositiontolockeverything.
• Place the cup on the grille under the funnel.
• Connecttheappliancetoelectricityandswitchitonwiththeon/offswitch(z. The
appliancebeepsandtheindicatorsonthecontrolpanelstartashing,indicating
that the appliance is heating up.
• Oncetheheatingiscompleted,thebuttonindicatorswillbelitcontinuously.Press
thebuttontomaketwocupsofcoffee( ).
• Anamountofwatercorrespondingtotwocupsofespressowillowthroughtheappliance.
Cleaning the nozzle:
• Placeasuitablydeepwatercontainerunderthenozzletocatchthesteam.The
nozzleshouldbesufcientlyimmersedinthecontainer.
• Afterpreheating,pressthebutonforcreatingsteam( ).Theindicatorashes,
indicating that the steam unit is heating up. As soon as the indicator is lit
continuously,itispossibletostartdispensingsteam.
• Turn the steam control knob to position / .Allowwatertoowfromthenozzle
untilthewhitepreheatindicatorgoesout(approx.1minute).Afterwards,returnthe
knob to the original position OFF.
Making espresso
Toprepareacupofgood,hotespresso,werecommendpreheatingtheappliance,including
thelever,portalterandcup,sothatthetasteofthecoffeeisnotaffectedbythecoldparts.
• InserttheleverwithportalterintotheapplianceundertheLOCKmarksothatthe
protrusionsontheholdertintothesteamhead.Turnthelevercounterclockwise
totheCLOSEpositiontolockeverything.
• Place the cup on the grille under the funnel.
• Connecttheappliancetoelectricityandswitchitonwiththeon/offswitch(z. The
appliancebeepsandtheindicatorsonthecontrolpanelstartashing,indicating
that the appliance is heating up.

thispoint,pulltheleveroutoftheapplianceandllitwithgroundcoffee.Select
thelteraccordingtotherequirednumberofcups:thelterformaking1espresso
ismarkedby1-cup,whilethelterfor2espressoismarked2-cup.
• Tampthecoffeethoroughlywithatamper.
• Put the lever back in the appliance and start making coffee using the button for
makingoneortwocups( nebo ).
• Oncethecoffeeisreadyyoucanturnoffthemachineusingthe(z)switch.
Making cappuccino (using amilk frother)
Whenmakingacappuccino,rstpreparetheespressoaccordingtotheinstructionsin
thepreviouschapter.Afterheatingthebrewingunit,thetemperatureoftheboileris
toohighforthepreparationofcoffee,whichwouldnegativelyaffectitstaste.
• Placeasuitablydeepcontainerwithmilkunderthenozzle.Thenozzleshouldbe
sufcientlyimmersedinthecontainer.
• Pressthesteambutton( ).Theindicatorashes,indicatingthatthesteamunit
isheatingup.Assoonastheindicatorislitcontinuously,itispossibletostart

dispensing steam.
• Turn the steam control knob to position / .Allowthesteamtoowuntil
thedesiredfoamdensityisreached.Afterwards,returntheknobtotheoriginal
position OFF.
• Pourthefrothedmilkintoanalreadymadeespresso.
Hot water dispensing
• Connecttheappliancetoelectricityandswitchitonwiththeon/offswitch(z. The
appliancebeepsandtheindicatorsonthecontrolpanelstartashing,indicating
that the appliance is heating up.
• Afterheating,turnthesteamcontrolknobtoposition / .Hotwaterstarts
owingoutofthenozzle.
• Afterdispensingtherequiredamountofhotwater,turntheknobbacktotheOFF
position.
Adjust the size of the espresso cup
Bydefault,thevolumeofoneespressoissettothestandardsize.Themachineallows
youtoadjustthevolumewhenpreparingonecupintherangefrom25to60mland
from70to110mlinthecaseoftwocups.
• Connecttheappliancetoelectricityandswitchitonwiththeon/offswitch(z. The
appliancebeepsandtheindicatorsonthecontrolpanelstartashing,indicating
that the appliance is heating up.
• Afterwarmingup,pressandholdthebuttonforthenumberofcupswhose
volumeyouwanttoadjustforatleast3seconds.Theapplianceswitchestovolume
settingmode(indicatorszand or willlightupcontinuously,whileother
indicators go out).
• Press or gain. The machine starts dispensing coffee.
• Whenthedesiredamountofcoffeeisinthecup,pressthebuttonagain.Thecoffee
brewingstopsandtherequiredvolumeissaved.
Warning:Topreventdamagetothepump,themachineautomaticallystopsafter
dispensingabout215mlofwater(espresso,cappuccino,hotwaterdispensing)orafter
about180secondsofsteam(milkfrothing).
Automatic shutoff
Theapplianceturnsoffautomaticallyafter30minutesofinactivity.Thisisanormal
occurrence.Pressthepowerswitchtoswitchonthecoffeemachineagain.
TIPS FOR MAKING GOOD COFFEE
Thefollowingfactorscanaffectthenalqualityandtasteofcoffee:
Temperature–coldlever,portalterandcuphaveanegativeeffectontheresult.
Preheattheportalterandleverinhotwateranddrythemproperly.Pourhotwaterin
thecupandallowittowarmup.Youcanalsoplacethecupsonasurfacedesignedfor
heating cups.
The amount of coffee–smallamount–coffeewillbeweak.Toomuchofcoffee–the
coffeewilltastestrong,bitter,evenastringent.
Coarseness of coffee and compaction–caremustbetakenthatthecoffeeisnely
ground,thoughnottoomuchandcorrectlytamped.Thedegreeofnenessofthe
coffeeandcompactionwillaffectthespeedofthewaterowthatwillowthrough
thegroundcoffeethroughthelterandthustheresultingtaste.
Tootampedornelygroundcoffee(lookslikeapowderandresemblessmoothour
whenrubbedbetweenthengers)willpreventwaterfromowingthroughthecoffee,

evenunderpressure.Theresultingcoffeewillbedarkandbitter.Conversely,theresult
oftoocoarselygroundorlightlycompactedcoffeewillbeodorless,sourcoffee.
Youcantampcoarsecoffeewithmoreforce,tampnelygroundcoffeewithfeeling.
Thefollowingillustrationcanbeusedasinspirationwhenpreparingcoffeebeverages.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Regular maintenance
• Beforecleaning,unplugthepowercordandletthecoffeemachinecooldown
completely.
• Regularlycleanthesurfaceofthecoffeemachinewithadampspongeandalso
cleanthewatertank,driptrayandgrid.Thendryeverything.
• Thedriptrayisequippedwithafullnessindicator.Itisaoatthatriseswhenthe
waterinthebowlreachesthemaximumlevel.
• Donotusealcoholordetergentsforcleaning.Neverimmersethebodyofthe
machineinwaterorotherliquids.
• Removethemetalleverbyturningitclockwiseandemptythecoffeegrounds.You
canthencleanthesepartswithdetergentandnallyrinsethemwithcleanwater.
• Washallattachmentsinwateranddrythemthoroughly.
Descaling
Inorderforyourcoffeemachinetoserveyouwell,youneedtoregularlyremovelimes-
calethatmayformintheinternalcircuitduringuse.Thecoffeemakerisequipped
withaninternalcounterforthenumberofbrewingcycles.Whenthenumberofcycles
reaches500andyouswitchonthemachine,allthebuttonsonthecontrolpanelash
vetimeswithanaccompanyingbeep.Thismeansthatthedescalingprocessneeds
tobecarriedout.Thecoffeemakerwillalertyoutodescaleeverytimeyouturniton
unlessyoucancelorcancelit.Toremovelimescale,proceedasfollows:
1. FillthetankwithwateranddescalingagenttotheMAXlevel(theratioofwater
anddescalingagentshouldbe4: 1,seedetailsintheinstructionsfordescaling).
Usea"householddescaler".Insteadofdescaler,youcanalsousecitricacid(itcan
beboughtatapharmacyorinchemicalsupplies).Inthiscase,usearatioofone
hundredpartswaterandthreepartscitricacid.
2. Proceedasyouwouldmakeacupofcoffee,justdonotputanygroundcoffeein
the lever.
3. Pressthebuttontomaketwocupsofcoffee( ).Switchoffthecoffeemachine
whentheowisabouthalfwaythrough.Thiswillcausethewaterwiththedescaler
to enter the coffee circuit.
4. Allowthedescaleractforabout15minutes.
5. Switchonthecoffeemachineand,afterpreheating,startdispensingtwocupsof
coffee at least four more times.
6. Then turn the steam control knob to the / position.Hotwaterstartsowing
outofthenozzle.Allowthewatertoowuntilallthewaterhasdrainedfromthe
tank.
7. Thedescalingisnownished.
8. Tocancelthedescalingalertandstartanewcoffeecyclecountwhilethemachine
isinstandbymode,pressandholdthebuttonsforonecup,twocupsandmilk
foamsimultaneouslyforabout3seconds.Allbuttonsonthecontrolpanelash
threetimeswithanaccompanyingsoundsignal.
