Galaxy 2 Series 2-Way Voice Kit

The Galaxy 2 Series 2-Way Voice Kit consists of a TP800 2-way voice speaker-mic and an Audio

Terminal Board (part number A233). The 2-Way Voice Kit only operates with the Galaxy 2-44+.

The Galaxy 2 Series Audio Terminal Board is a connector that allows 2-way audio communication (speak

and listen) between the panel PCB and the Alarm Receiving Centre. The Audio Terminal Board is

connected to the TP800 speaker-mic which allows audio communication via the on-board PSTN/Modem

or the plug-on GSM module. The Audio Terminal Board is fitted to the main PCB at the location shown

in the diagram below.

Installation Instructions

A. Audio Terminal Board

1. Fit the Audio Terminal Board to the pins of the audio header on the main PCB.

2. Make sure that the orientation of the Audio Terminal Board is the same as the illustration above.

B. TP800 Speaker-Mic

1. Remove the screw at the top that attaches the front cover to the back plate.

2. If necessary, carefully prise the top cover from the back plate with a screw driver.

3. Remove the knockout hole from the back plate.

4. Attach the TP800 back plate loosely to a wall using screws through the elongated attachment

holes. This will enable the wire from the Audio Terminal Board to be fed through from the back.

NOTE: The TP800 can be adjusted for audio levels. Refer to the instructions supplied with the

module for further information.

Wiring Instructions

The wires between the TP800 units must be no longer than 30 metres in total. The wiring from the Audio

Terminal Board to the TP800 speaker-mic is as follows:

1. Wire the TP800 to the Audio Terminal Board as per the above table.

2. Finally secure the TP800 back plate to the wall through the elongated attachment holes.

3. Attach the TP800 front cover to the back plate by locating the bottom slot into the locating boss

and then snapping shut. Attach the screw to the top.

Operation of 2-Way Audio

Communication Modes

Two types of audio communication are possible: Listen-in (after alarm) or Dial-in.

Listen-in

In this mode, the panel will stay on-line for 30 seconds after sending an alarm signal to the ARC to allow

the operator to listen to the audio on site. The operation is controlled by the remote DTMF telephone and

is as follows:

1. Press the *then 6 keys to start listen-in.

2. Use the 0and 1keys to toggle between listen and talk modes (0 = listen, 1 = talk).

3. To end the call, press the *then #keys.

4. The call ends with three beeps.

Dial-in

In this mode, a user can dial into the alarm system from a DTMF telephone and type in a special PIN

code (controlled in Menu 42, User 99). This will allow the user to listen to the audio on site, and talk to

the site. The operation is controlled by the remote telephone and is as follows:

1. Dial in to either the PSTN number or the GSM audio number.

2. The panel answers after the number of rings set up in Menu 56.1.09.

3. Wait for a long tone then enter the PIN code to start listening.

4. Use the 0and 1keys to toggle between listen and talk modes (0 = listen, 1 = talk).

5. To end the call, press the *then #keys.

6. The call ends with three beeps.

In both modes, if no commands are detected within 2 minutes the call will be timed out and hung up. If

the remote user hangs up without using *and #then it can take up to 2 minutes before the call times out

at the panel end.
