3. PRODUCT OVERVIEW
ONDA in-wall speaker series is born to satisfy all those indoor installations where
sound pressure and quality higher than normal 70/100V systems are requested.
The ONDA speakers are all low-impedance (8ohm), coaxial, with Kevlar woof-
ers, silk-dome tweeters, precision crossovers; essentially true 2-way speakers for
professional applications, but ceiling/wall mount. The look of the front panel is
minimalist and captivating, and reminds recording studio monitor. The frame-less
design, with black ABS frame and white magnetic grids, makes the ONDA speak-

ers extremely discreet. Finally, the grids can be repainted to make them even less
visible.

5. INSTALLATION
Read these instructions carefully before installing and using the product.
• When installing in-wall/in-ceiling loudspeakers, be aware of the weight of
your particular model (see “8. TECHNICAL PARAMETERS” at page 12 for
the weight) and the sturdiness of the material into which you are installing the
speaker. Also, be aware of any concealed studs, electrical wiring or plumbing
in the wall or ceiling into which you are installing the speakers.
• Do not use nails, adhesives or other unauthorized devices. Long-term use
and vibrations may cause it to fall easily.
• If you plan to install your speakers where water will directly contact them, it is
advisable to use a silicone sealant or caulk between the frame of the speaker
and the wall surface. This seal should prevent water from getting behind the
loudspeaker and possibly damaging the wall surface.
• Do not position the speaker where water can pool on the surface of the
woofer cone or tweeter dome, as this will great decrease the speaker’s useful
life (and everything will sound ”glub! glub!”, like it’s coming from under wa-
ter).
ONDA Series speakers are IP54 speakers. Please be noticed before
installing the speaker.
• Do not place the speakers on movable supports.
• Do not touch or bump the woofer. If these are damaged, the sound will be
distorted.

• Do not listen to sound at a very high level when you are changing the input
source (for example, from FM Tuner to CD player). Please be sure the power
amplier is turned o or master volume is at lower level.
• Do not attempt to clean the speakers with chemical solvents as this may
damage the paint surface. Clean with a dry cloth.
5.1. Speaker Installation
“Out of the box and into the wall”, that is how easy it is to install ONDA series
loudspeakers.
If you intend to do the installation yourself, we recommend that you possess
some skill in the proper use of hand and power tools. You should have a thor-
ough understanding of local building and re codes and a familiarity with the area
behind the wall or ceiling into which you plan to install your speakers.
The installer is responsible of installation. Please pay attention to
install speakers according to local safety regulations. If you are not
sure to install in a safe way these speakers, consult a professional
installer, your authorized dealer, or a contractor.
Things you will need:
yPencil for marking the location of installation;
yKeyhole saw, utility knife or material appropriate incising implement for cutting
drywall or other wall material
yLevel
yScrewdriver (preferably powered)
yPower drill with appropriate bit (optional, for starting wall cut)
Steps to be followed:
1. Make sure the material into which you plan to mount the speaker (plaster, dry-
wall, paneling, stone, etc.,) supports the weight of the speakers (see “7. IN-
WALL/IN-CEILING SPEAKER PAINTING” at page 10 for the weight of each
model).
2. Make sure the locations you select do not conceal studs, electrical wiring or
plumbing. Prior to installation, hold the speaker in your chosen location to make
sure it safely clears obstacles such as studs, corners, beams, lighting xtures and
door/window frames. Your cutout must be at least 1” (25mm) from adjoining
walls or ceiling, internal studs or plumbing.
3. Draw a ceiling hole on the wall or ceiling with a diameter corresponding to the

ONDA Series Quick-Mount Hi-Fi Coaxial In-Wall/In-Ceiling Speakers

ones shown on “4. PRODUCT APPEARANCE” at page 5.
4. Carefully cut the hole with the appropriate cutting tool for your wall or ceiling
material. Start the hole by drilling a hole on the inside of the tracing (with the
drill bit touching the line). Use this hole to insert the saw or knife and begin
cutting.
5. Remove the magnetic speaker grille.
6. Once you have cut the hole, sh your previously positioned wiring out of the
hole and connect the speaker. Strip about 2” (12 mm) of insulation from each of
the two conductors of the wire to expose the bare metal and twist each of the
conductors into a single unfrayed strand (so you have two unfrayed strands).
Note that one of the two terminals on the rear of each speaker is red (+) and
the other is black(-). Make certain that you connect the wire from the red ter-
minal (+) of your amplier or receiver to the red terminal (+) of your speaker,
and the wire from the black terminal (-) of your amplier to the black termi-

nal (-) of your speaker. Most wire has some indicator (such as color-coding,
ribbing or writing) on one of the two conductors to help you maintain consis-
tency.
7. Loosen the rotating clamps by unscrewing them. Make sure that they are
ipped inwards so that your speaker ts into your cutout without nicking your
wall. Then place the speaker carefully into the cutout.
If you have a level, use it to help you correctly align the speaker. Tighten the
wall clamp screws with a screwdriver. This will rotate the wall clamps and se-
cure the speaker to the wall.
HINT: do not over-tighten the wall clamp screws!
8. Carefully reinstall the grille.
6. UNDER-POWERING VS OVER-POWERING
Most speaker damages are caused by ampliers with too little power (wattage).
Overdriven ampliers clip output waveforms and send distortion to the speakers.
Clipping is usually audible; it may vary from a harsh sound to a fuzzy or unclear
sound.
If you hear this condition at loud volume levels, turn down the amplier volume
until the distortion is no longer present. Damages caused by operating the speak-
ers at distorted volume levels are no covered by warranty.

7. IN-WALL/IN-CEILING SPEAKER PAINTING
You will need:
yPaint of your choice (to make the job easier, we recommend spray-painting the
grille)
yMasking tape and/or paper
Preparing to paint:
When painting the frame of the speaker, carefully mask o the front of the
speakers to protect the drivers and baes while painting. You can do this while
the speaker is already installed in the wall (if, for instance, you are repainting the
room). Carefully mask the speaker components using paper and masking tape.
Painting the frame:
1. Apply paint to exposed (unmasked parts). Use two or more thin coats. Spray
painting is recommended.
Mask the drivers and baes, and then spray part in thin coats
