Thank you for purchasing a Canon
product.
The Canon 10x30 IS II and 12x36 IS III prism binoculars are equipped
with an Image Stabilizer that uses a vari-angle prism.
Before using the binoculars, read this instruction booklet to familiarize
yourself with the proper operation.

spectator sports, theater events, and other everyday uses (the 10x30
IS II offers a magnification of 10x, and the 12x36 IS III offers a
magnification of 12x).

Precautions for Use (Please be sure to read before use)
z Please be sure to read this section carefully beforehand in order to
use your binoculars correctly and safely.
zThe following safety indications are designed to prevent injury to you
or others as well as damage by identifying safety information for safe,
correct use of the product. Please understand what each indication
means before reading the manual.
Warning Denotes the risk of death or serious injury from improper
handling if the information is not observed.

Warning (regarding the binoculars)
1） Never look at the sun with the
binoculars. Doing so can cause loss of
vision.
2) Do not place the binoculars under direct sunlight. Otherwise, the lens
may concentrate the sun's rays and cause a fire.
3) Keep the plastic bags used for packaging out of reach of small children
since choking may occur if swallowed.
4) If the strap is mistakenly wrapped around the neck, suffocation may
result.
Caution (regarding the binoculars)
5) Do not place the binoculars on an unstable surface. Doing so may
cause the binoculars to fall and could result in a personal injury.
6) Please do not use the binoculars while walking. Doing so may cause
you to collide into objects or fall down and could result in a personal
injury.

Please do not swing the binoculars around by the strap. Doing so may
cause others to be hit by the binoculars and could result in a personal injury.
8) Fingers may be pinched when adjusting the width of the binoculars.
Please be aware of this when the binoculars are being used by small
children.
9) When used for a prolonged period, the rubber eye cups may irritate the
skin around the eyes. If you suspect that this may have occurred, please
see a physician.
Caution (regarding the binoculars)
10) Binoculars are precision instruments. Do not drop them or subject
them to shock. Never attempt to disassemble them.
11) The binoculars are not waterproof. Avoid exposing the binoculars to
rain or water spray.
12) High temperatures can cause the binoculars to malfunction. Therefore,
do not store them close to a heater or in a car under direct sunlight.
13) Avoid storing the binoculars in a laboratory or a location where
chemicals are present since this may cause rust or corrosion. Also
avoid storage in a chest of drawers.
14)
If the lens is dirty, first use a blower brush to remove dust, etc., from the
lens surface. Then use a soft, dry cloth and wipe the lens gently without
scratching it. Do not use any organic solvent on the body or lenses.
15) Storing the binoculars in a humid location may cause fungus to form on
the lenses or cause the lenses to become cloudy. If the binoculars are
not to be used for an extended period, clean the lenses and body
thoroughly and store in a well-ventilated dry place.
16) If the binoculars are taken from a cold environment to a warm one,
condensation may develop on the surface and internal parts due to the
sudden change in temperature. To prevent condensation, first put the
binoculars into an airtight plastic bag before taking it to a warm
environment. Let it gradually adjust to the warmer temperature, then
take out the binoculars. Do the same when taking the binoculars from
a warm environment to a cold one.
All Canon Binoculars are composed only of “Environment Friendly Lead-Free
Optical Glass”. The design is derived from Canon’s corporate policy to care about
our environment.
Precautions for Use (Please be sure to read before use)

Warning (regarding the batteries)
1) Please carefully check the batteries as well as the package to verify the
nominal voltage rating of the batteries before use. Be sure not to use
batteries with a nominal voltage rating of 1.5V or higher or batteries
which have no nominal voltage information. Using such batteries may
result fire, generation of smoke, or personal injury.
2) In rare cases, some AA-size lithium batteries will reach extremely high
temperatures. For your safety, please refrain from using AA-size lithium
batteries.
3) Never attempt to disassemble batteries, charge the batteries (except for
Ni-MH rechargeable batteries), leave batteries in a hot place, short
circuit the contacts, or throw them into a fire. These actions can cause
battery leakage, ignitions, and explosions which may lead to fire or
personal injury. (Rechargeable batteries are batteries which can be
charged and reused many times.)
4) Always replace both batteries at the same time. In addition, please do
not use different brand batteries together or a new battery with an old
battery. Doing so can cause battery leakage, ignitions, and explosions
which may lead to fire or personal injury.
5) Please remove the batteries if the binoculars are not to be used for an
extended period or if the batteries have been depleted. If the batteries
are left inside, they may leak, causing malfunction, corrosion, or fire.
6) Insert the batteries with the + and – terminals in the correct directions.
Not doing so can cause battery leakage, ignitions, and explosions which
may lead to fire or personal injury.
Caution (regarding the batteries)
7) If any liquid from inside the batteries leaks out and contacts your skin,
be sure to wash the liquid off thoroughly.
8) If the lamp does not light even when you press the Image Stabilizer
button, the battery power is low. Replace the batteries with two new
batteries at the same time from the same brand.

Before You Start
(The 12x36 IS III is shown in the illustrations.)
1Attach the strap.
zMake sure there is no slack at
the clasp, and that the strap
does not loosen at the clasp
when you pull it.
2Insert the battery.
zOpen the battery chamber
cover, and insert the battery in
the correct + and – orientation
shown in the battery chamber.
3Check that the lamp lights.
zPress the Image Stabilizer
button and check that the lamp
lights.
zWhen handling batteries, please carefully read " Warning (regarding
the batteries)" and " Caution (regarding the batteries)" which are found
on page 4 of this manual.
zPlease use two new batteries of the same brand. Also, always replace
both batteries at the same time.
zS
ince the shapes of battery contacts for AA-size batteries other than alkaline batteries*
is not standardized, use of certain brand batteries may result in contact failure.
* An alkaline battery is a primary cell capable of electrical discharge only and designed to
be used only once and discarded.

zAA-size nickel metal hydride rechargeable batteries (Ni-MH) can also be used.
zRechargeable batteries are batteries which can be charged and reused
many times.

Before You Start
4Adjust the width of the binoculars.
Look through the binoculars and adjust the width until the left and right
images converge as shown above.
zDoing the above minimizes eye fatigue during viewing.
zWhen adjusting the width of the binoculars to suit the width between your eyes,
look at a distant object.
zIf you are wearing eyeglasses, fold back the eye cups.
5Adjust the diopter.
First look through the left eyepiece
only and adjust the focusing knob until
the object looks sharp.
Then look through the right eyepiece
only and look at the same object while
turning the dioptric correction ring until
the object looks sharp.

looks sharp.
Using the Image Stabilizer
While you look through the binoculars, the image may be shaking and
difficult to see since your hands are holding the binoculars. In such a
case, the Image Stabilizer can help steady the image.
The Image Stabilizer operates as long as you hold down the Image
Stabilizer button. It stops operating when you let go of the button.
The lamp lights while the Image
Stabilizer is on.
zThe Image Stabilizer may not be able to compensate for severe shaking.
zIn rare cases, images may momentarily appear to move irregularly during
rapid panning, etc.
zEven without batteries loaded, the binoculars can still be used as is.

Troubleshooting
If there is a problem with the binoculars, first refer to the table below to
see if you can resolve it. If the problem cannot be resolved, take the
binoculars to your nearest Canon Service Center.
Problem Probable Cause Corrective Measures
The image is not clear. The lens is dirty. Use a blower brush to
remove dust, etc., from the
lens surface. Then use a
soft, dry cloth to wipe the
lens gently.
The width of the binoculars
does not suit the width
between your eyes.
Adjust the width of the
binoculars
(See step 4 on page 7).
The diopter has not been
properly set.
Adjust the diopter
(see step 5 on page 7).
The binoculars are not
properly focused.

The Image Stabilizer

exhausted. Replace the
batteries with new ones.

When the Image
Stabilizer is on, the
binoculars make an
unusual sound when
shaken deeply.
The battery power is low. Replace the batteries with
new ones.
