Rear Lid, Does Not Open After Handle Replacement
Rear lid does not open with remote or door panel switch after handle replacement.
Note:
This technical bulletin DOES NOT apply to Touareg equipped with rear view back up camera.
Technical Background
Replacement handle has a European micro switch that is incompatible with U.S / Canada vehicles. Micro switch
from old handle or a new micro switch will need to be used on new handle.

Service
Remove handle. See Repair Manual, Group 55 Hoods/Lids in ElsaWeb.
•1J0 827 566 H: Handle does not include micro switch. If old micro switch is unable to be reused, install new
micro switch Part No: 1J5 962 104 B.
•1J0 827 566 L: Handle includes European micro switch. Remove micro switch from new part and dispose. If
old micro switch is unable to be reused, install new micro switch Part No: 1J5 962 104 B.
To remove micro switch, gently pry it away from handle.
To install micro switch, align mounting tabs with handle
alignment holes.
