Uplogix 500/5000 Local Managers
The Uplogix Local Manager is a management device that connects directly to managed
network devices and servers.
Uplogix 500
The Uplogix 500 is a small form factor Local Manager offering a fixed set of console ports for
connection to managed devices.
There are six serial ports that can be connected to managed devices. One port is dedicated for
connection to an intelligent power controller.
Uplogix 5000
The Uplogix 5000 may be customized by installing expansion cards in the two modular bays.
Each expansion bay can be used to add either 4, 8 or 16 serial ports or eight dedicated
Ethernet ports, for pairing with serial ports, when direct Ethernet connections are needed for
managed devices.

Hardware installation
Ensure that the power source:
Provides appropriate power, AC or DC, as required by the system.
Provides overload protection
Is connected to earth ground
Warning: The power source must meet all these requirements to ensure safe and reliable
operation.
Ensure that the installation site meets the requirement that the ambient temperature does not
exceed 113° F (45° C) or fall below 32°F (0°C).
Caution: The unit will overheat if the site does not meet these requirements.
