About This Guide

Overview

The SBC 5100 Hardware Installation Guide describes the steps involved in

mounting the SBC 5100 supplied by Sonus Networks into a rack, connecting

power to the chassis, connecting cabling to 5100 ports and powering up the

platform in preparation for installing the software (see SBC 5x00 Software

Installation Guide).

Audience

This document is intended for use by the Network Engineers to prepare the SBC

5100 for the hardware installation.

What’s in This Guide

This guide is classified into the following chapters:

Chapter 1, "Hardware Installation Overview": an overview of the SBC 5100

hardware as well as safety warnings, site planning requirements and port

descriptions.

Chapter 2, "Hardware Installation Procedure": describes how to rack-mount SBC

5100 using the universal kit, connect power and network cables and power up the

platform.

Appendix "Site Preparation Checklist": contains a pre- and post-installation

checklist to aid in the hardware installation. You must complete the pre-installation

checklist prior to installing SBC 5100.
