Setting 1 – One bleep (High Tone)
This is the R4’s Factory setting out of the box. The alarm
will sound every time line movement across the R4’s
roller wheel is detected. Drop backs are registered for
any reverse line movement detected.
Setting 2 – Two bleeps (Mid Tone)
Features the famous Siren speed sensing to eliminate
false indication. The alarm will sound for forward or drop
back line movement faster than 1cm/second. Setting 2
also features the Drift Sensing safeguard.
Setting 3 – Three bleeps (Mid Tone)
Features the famous Siren speed sensing to eliminate
false indication. The alarm will sound for forward or drop
back line movement faster than 2cm/second. Setting 3
also features the Drift Sensing safeguard.
Setting 4 (Wave) - Four bleeps (Low Tone)
Features the famous Siren speed sensing to eliminate
false indication, as well as wave sensing technology to
eliminate false indication caused by signicant wave
action or when shing from a boat. The alarm will sound
for forward or drop back line movement faster than
1cm/second. Alarm events are registered after 15cm of
line movement across the roller. This 15cm increment
is reset after 30 seconds when no line movement is
detected. Setting 4 also features the Drift Sensing
safeguard.
Setting 5 (Wave) – Five bleeps (Low Tone)
Features the famous Siren speed sensing to eliminate
false indication, as well as wave sensing technology to
eliminate false indication caused by signicant wave
action or when shing from a boat. The alarm will sound
for forward or drop back line movement faster than
2cm/second. Alarm events are registered after 30cm of
line movement across the roller. This 30cm increment
is reset after 30 seconds when no line movement is
detected. Setting 5 also features the Drift Sensing
safeguard.
DRIFT SENSING TECHNOLOGY
This revolutionary intelligent sensing features on settings
2-5 combats situations of line creep, that do not result in

an audible and/or visual indication such as when drifting
weed collects on the line, which can result in your lead/
rig being towed great distances from its original position.
If the line movement is slower than the sensitivity rate
set the alarm will sound with an alternating high/low
tone repeated 3 times after 3 metres of line movement.
This failsafe alarm feature is then reset. It is also reset
following any other registration of line movement.
DROP BACK DIFFERENTIATION:
To alert the user to a slack line indication Drop Backs are
signalled by three descending low tones that differ to the
tone set for forward line movement.
LOW BATTERY WARNING:
The R4 Head emits ve consecutive 1 second
bleeps when switched on to warn you battery
power is low. Replace battery immediately to retain full
functionality.

PROGRAMMING R4 HEADS TO R4 RECEIVER:
NOTES:
•
It is easiest to programme R4 heads to the R4
Receiver when the R4 heads are on Sensitivity
Setting 1 (Factory setting).
•
During programming the Receiver and R4 alarm
must be at least 50cm apart.
Press and hold Power and Volume buttons
together for 3 seconds until a bleep is heard.
LED 1 will light and stay lit. Sounding an R4 alarm will
pair it to that channel. Pairing is conrmed when the
LED on the Receiver ashes. Short press the Power
button to light the second LED. R4 alarms can be
sequentially paired in this way through channels one to
four.
Once you have paired all the R4 heads you require
press and hold Volume and Power buttons for
3 seconds to exit programming, signied by a double
bleep.
The fth channel (Buddy Channel) can be paired with
your friends’ or partner’s alarms, so you can go to their
aid if they have a take. Up to 32 different R4 alarms can
be paired to it. To pair R4 heads with the fth channel
enter programming mode by pressing and holding Power
and Volume buttons together for 3 seconds until
a bleep is heard.

without releasing. After 3 seconds the first LED will
light and a bleep will be heard.
Continue to keep both buttons depressed together for
a further 3 seconds, until three consecutive bleeps are
heard and the LED turns off. This signifies any existing
pairings with R4 alarms have been erased. Note individ-
ual heads cannot be selected and erased from the R4
Receiver, all pairings will be erased.
However, individual channels can be overwritten with a
new head, or left paired to the same head by toggling to
the next channel.
You can then go back into pairing mode by pressing
Power and Volume together until you hear a single bleep
and the first LED lights. Now pair your heads accordingly.
NOTE: Individual R4 heads cannot be redistributed between
channels as a single head cannot be paired on two channels
at the same time using the same receiver. If the order of
alarms and channels need to be altered, erase all pairing
information and re-start the programme mode.
