1. SAFETY INFORMATION
Before using this electrical appliance, read the instructions
below carefully and keep them for future reference:
1. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8
years and above if they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way
and if they understand the hazards involved. Cleaning
and user maintenance shall not be made by children
unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Keep the
appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less
than 8 years.
2. Appliances can be used by persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of
experience and knowledge if they have been given

5. Before plugging the appliance into the wall socket,
check that the local electric current corresponds to the
current specied on the appliance‘s rating plate. Always
plug your appliance into an earthed wall socket.

4. BEFORE FIRST USE
■Carefully unpack the appliance and remove all packaging materials.
■Check for damage that may have occurred during transport. If any parts are damaged or missing, do not
use the appliance and return it to the retail outlet immediately.
■Clean the removable brewing accessories that come into contact with your drink before using them for the
rst time (→ CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE).
■ Before rst use, follow the steps in the PREHEATING section to ush your espresso machine with a
cycle of the Coffee button. Discard the water from the cup and rinse well. The machine is then ready for
preheating and making espresso.
5. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
5.1. PREHEATING
For an optimal avour, preheat the espresso machine and the brewing accessories.
1. Fill the water tank with water up to the “MAX” mark. The water tank can be removed from the appliance to
add water, if required.
2. Plug the espresso machine into a wall socket.
3. Ensure the Steam control knob is in the (OFF) position, and then press the Power button to turn the
espresso machine ON.
4. Insert the lter (without coffee grounds) into the portalter by aligning the raised dot on the lter with the
notch on the portalter. Rotate the lter clockwise until it stops to secure it in place inside the portalter.
5. Insert the portalter into the group head with the handle aligned to the UNLOCKED position. Ensure
the portalter is properly inserted, and then turn the handle to the right until it reaches the LOCKED
position.
6. Place a cup on the drip tray under the portalter spouts.
7. Press the Coffee button to pump water from the water tank into the boiler. When water starts to ow into
the cup, press the Coffee button to stop pumping water.
NOTE: Perform step 7 only on rst use. Skip to the next step for subsequent uses.
The appliance may make a noise when pumping water for the rst time. This is normal as the appliance
releases the air inside. The noise will disappear after approximately 20 seconds.
8. When the Coffee button indicator turns green, press the Coffee button to ll the cup with hot water. Press
again to stop. Let the hot water sit in the cup to preheat.
9. Follow the next section to make espresso.
NOTE: When the water is preheating in the boiler, the Coffee button indicator will be switched off. The indicator
will turn green once the water has nished preheating.
5.2. MAKING ESPRESSO
After preheating the espresso machine and the brewing accessories, you can start to prepare your espresso.
1. To remove the portalter from the group head, turn the handle of the portalter to the left to the
UNLOCKED position.
2. Use the measuring spoon to add 1 tablespoon of ground coffee into the lter for a single shot, or 2
tablespoons for a double shot.
3. Distribute the coffee grounds evenly in the lter and tamp the coffee grounds with the tamper at the end of
the measuring spoon.
4. Insert the portalter into the group head with the handle aligned to the UNLOCKED position. Then
turn the handle to the right until it reaches the LOCKED position.
5. Discard the hot water from the preheated cup.
6. Press the Coffee button to start making espresso. After obtaining the desired amount of coffee, press the
button again to stop the ow of coffee.
7. After brewing, remove the portalter from the group head by turning the handle to the left to the
UNLOCKED position. Discard the used coffee grounds, ensuring that you press on the plastic tab to
hold the portalter in place. Rinse away any coffee residue and continue brewing the next cup.
8. Press the Power button to turn OFF the appliance after use.
9. Clean the appliance and removable accessories after each use (see CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE).
NOTE: During coffee preparation, it is normal for the Coffee button indicator to switch on and off. The Coffee
button indicator switches off when the water is preheating in the boiler, and turns green once preheated. Always
wait until the indicator is green before pressing the Coffee button to make espresso.

EN 5.3. MAKING CAPPUCCINO OR FROTHING MILK
Add frothed milk to your espresso to make cappuccino.
1. Prepare the espresso in a large cup (see PREHEATING and MAKING ESPRESSO).
NOTE: If you want to prepare several cups of cappuccino, prepare the espressos rst and then froth the
milk for all the cappuccinos.
2. Press the Steam button to switch the steamer on. The Coffee button indicator will switch off. Wait until the
green indicator on the Steam button illuminates.
NOTE: The indicator on the Steam button switches off during the heating process and turns green once
the steam temperature is reached. During steaming, the Steam button indicator will switch on and off to
maintain the set temperature. This is normal and does not indicate that the appliance is faulty.
3. Fill a frothing jug with about 150 ml of whole or semi-skimmed milk for each cup of cappuccino. For best
results, use cold milk directly from the fridge (not hot milk).
4. Insert the steam wand in the milk and turn the Steam control knob anti-clockwise to steam Level 1. Steam
will come out from the steam wand.
5. Start frothing the milk. To create froth, keep the steam wand just below the milk surface and near the side
of the jug.
6. Turn the Steam control knob anti-clockwise to increase the steam level (total 6 levels) as required. Always
turn the Steam control knob gradually.
WARNING: Do not turn the Steam control knob quickly, as steam will accumulate too quickly and cause
excessive pressure, which may result in an explosion.
7. When the desired froth or texture has been created, turn the Steam control knob clockwise to the
(OFF) position. Remove the steam wand from the milk.
8. Carefully wipe the steam wand with a soft damp cloth immediately after it stops producing steam to
prevent milk from sticking to the surface.
Turn the Steam control knob to Level 1 to expel any residual milk from the steam wand. Return the Steam
Control knob to the (OFF) position.
9. Pour the frothed milk into the prepared espresso. Sprinkle cocoa powder on top, if desired. Add sugar to
taste and serve.
10. Press the Power button to turn OFF the appliance after use.
Clean the appliance and removable accessories after each use (see CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE).
NOTE:
■If you press the Coffee button to make coffee immediately after frothing milk, the Coffee button indicator
will ash green to warn you that the Steam control knob is still on. In this case, turn the Steam control
knob to the (OFF) position, and then press the Coffee button again to make coffee.
■Use a milk frothing jug that is slim and tall, ideally stainless steel, bearing in mind that the milk will double
in volume after frothing. Do not use a jug that is too small or too large for the amount of milk to be frothed.
5.4. AUTOMATIC POWER OFF FUNCTION
The espresso machine will turn off automatically if it is left inactive for 25 minutes. To continue using the
espresso machine, press the Power button to restart the unit.
6. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION! Before cleaning, turn off and unplug the espresso machine from the
wall socket. Allow the unit and its removable accessories to cool down completely before cleaning.
DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION! Do not immerse the espresso machine, power cord or plug in water
or any other liquids. Never rinse them under the tap. Keep all electrical parts dry.
NOTE: Never use solvents, chemical or abrasive cleaning agents, wire brushes, sharp objects or scouring pads
to clean the appliance. Use mild dish detergent.
1. Empty the drip tray regularly. If the red oat valve indicator shows through the grid, the drip tray is full and
needs to be emptied immediately.
2. After brewing, remove the portalter from the group head. Discard the used coffee grounds. Turn the lter
anti-clockwise to remove it from the portalter. Wash the parts with a soft sponge in warm soapy water.
Use a soft bristled brush if required. Rinse well and allow to dry.
3. Remove the drip tray, grid and water tank for cleaning. Clean them regularly by washing them in soapy
water with a soft sponge. Rinse well and wipe dry with a soft cloth.
4. Wipe the external surface of the espresso machine with a soft cloth moistened with water or a mild dish
detergent. Wipe clean and dry with a soft, dry cloth.
DESCALING
To ensure your espresso machine works efciently, descale your espresso machine every 2-3 months. Regular
descaling helps to keep the internal pipes free from mineral deposits that build up from tap water.

Descaling procedure:
1. Buy a commercially available descaler for espresso machines and follow the instructions on the package.
2. Empty the water tank. Fill the water tank with the recommended amount of descaler and ll the rest of the
water tank with water up to the “MAX” mark.
3. Place a large container under the group head.
4. Follow the steps 1 – 8 of the PREHEATING section. When you reach step 8, press the Coffee button to
pump 2 cups (about 60 ml/2 oz each) of descaling water. Discard the water from each cup.
5. Next, press the Steam button and wait until the indicator illuminates.
6. Turn the Steam control knob anti-clockwise to make steam for 2 minutes. Then turn the Steam control
knob clockwise to the (OFF) position to stop steaming.
7. Press the Power button to turn OFF the espresso machine. Let the descaling solution sit in the machine
for 15 minutes.
8. Press the Power button to turn ON the espresso machine.
9. Wait until the Coffee button illuminates, and then press the Coffee button to pump until no descaling water
is left in the water tank. Discard the collected water.
Tap water rinsing procedure:
10. Remove the water tank from the espresso machine. Wash well and ll it with tap water up to the “MAX”
mark. Attach the water tank to the espresso machine.
11. Repeat steps 3 – 5 above 3 times (to pump tap water).
12. Press the Coffee button to pump hot water until the water tank is empty.
13. Your espresso machine is now descaled.
7. TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem Possible cause Solution
The metal parts of the
appliance have rusted.
The descaler used was not suitable
for espresso machines (the
descaler was too strong, causing it
to corrode the metal parts).
Use a commercially available
descaler suitable for espresso
machines.
Water leaks from the bottom
of the coffee maker.
The drip tray is full. Empty and clean the drip tray
regularly.
The water tank is not properly
installed. Re-install the water tank.
Malfunction in the appliance. Unplug the appliance and contact
the closest authorized service
centre to arrange a repair.
Water leaks from the sides
of the lter.
There are coffee grounds around
the rim. Remove coffee grounds from the
rim before attaching to the lter.
The lter is too full.
Do not ll coffee grounds above the
rim of the lter.
Fill coffee grounds evenly and level
with the rim of the lter, and then
tamp the coffee grounds with the
tamper.
The portalter is not properly
locked into the group head.
Ensure the portalter is properly
inserted into the group head in the
UNLOCKED position, and then
turn the handle to the right until it
reaches the LOCKED position.
The coffee tastes sour.
The appliance was not ushed with
a cycle of the Coffee button before
preparing coffee for the rst time.
See the section BEFORE
FIRST USE, and follow the ush
procedure. Repeat if necessary.
- The coffee grounds are expired or
have spoiled.
- The coffee grounds have been
stored in a hot, wet place for a long
time.
- Use fresh coffee grounds.
- Store unopened coffee packages
in a cool, dry place.
- After opening a coffee package,
reseal it tightly and store it in the
fridge to maintain its freshness.

The espresso machine
does not turn ON.
The appliance is not plugged into
the wall socket.
Ensure the appliance is plugged
into the wall socket and the plug is
rmly inserted.
No electricity. Check the power source.
Overheating.
Turn the Steam Control knob to the
(OFF) position and unplug the
appliance from the wall socket.
Let the appliance cool down, and
then plug it in and try again.
Malfunction in the appliance. Unplug the appliance and contact
the closest authorized service
centre to arrange a repair.
The steam wand does not
produce froth.
The Steam button indicator is not
illuminated, as the appliance is still
heating.
Wait until the Steam button
indicator illuminates. Steam can be
produced only after the indicator
switches on.
The Steam control knob is in the
(OFF) position.
After the Steam button indicator
switches on, turn the Steam
Control knob anti-clockwise to
produce steam.
The jug is too large.
Use a frothing jug that is slim and
tall enough, bearing in mind that
the milk will double in volume after
frothing. Do not use a jug that is too
large or too small for the amount
of milk.
Skimmed milk was used. Use whole milk or semi-skimmed
milk.
8. WARRANTY AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
This product is guaranteed for a period of 36 months (including the legal guarantee of 24 months
as dened by local law as well as a commercial guarantee of 12 additional months offered by the
brand) from the date of purchase, against any failure resulting from a manufacturing or material
defect.
This guarantee does not cover damage resulting from a faulty installation, incorrect use, or normal
wear and tear.More specically, the guarantee does not cover:
■ Damage or problems caused by incorrect use, accidents, modications or an electrical
connection with the wrong current or voltage.
■ Products that have been modied or whose tamper evident seal or serial number has been
damaged, altered, removed or rusted.
■Replaceable batteries and accessories are guaranteed for 6 months.
■Battery failure, as a result of over-charging or non-compliance with the safety instructions set
out in the manual
■Cosmetic damage, including scratches, bumps and any other element.
■Damage caused by any servicing operations carried out by non-authorised persons.
■Faults caused by normal wear and tear or the normal ageing of the product
■Software updates as a consequence of changes to network settings
■Product failure resulting from the use of third party software to modify, change or adapt the
product as supplied
■Product failure resulting from its use without manufacturer-approved accessories
■Rusted products
The manufacturer is not liable for the loss of data stored on the hard drive. Similarly, the
manufacturer is not required to check that SIM/SD cards have been removed from returned
