Philips’ MASTER PL-H compact fluorescent is
truly an original breakthrough in lighting
technology. For the first time, a compact
fluorescent can generate up to 9,000 lumens.
That means you can look for even more
innovative and imaginative ways to create higher
lighting levels, more comfort and more style –
all with fewer luminaires – in any number of
applications. And as one of the few lighting
companies to manufacture both lamps and gear,
Philips has used its in-depth knowledge to
develop and fine tune a MASTER PL-H system
to assure long life and the best performance.
The proven benefits of compact fluorescent
Now, you can use compact fluorescent systems to light applications such as this
With PL-H you get:
• Long lifetime (>20K hrs)
• Lower cost of ownership
• Instant white light
• High lumen maintenance – PL-H stays
brighter longer
• No shift in colour temperature
over lifetime
• Choice of colour temperatures
• Hot re-strike
• High colour rendering of Ra 85

Go where no CFL has gone before
Now, you can use compact fluorescent systems to light applications such as this
MASTER PL-H is optimised for use with elec-
tronic control gear. This ensures system efficiency
and highly comfortable lighting. Moreover, Philips
has developed a multi-watt high frequency bal-
last that operates across the whole lamp range,
so you can specify which lamp wattages you
prefer at any time during the project – right up
until the last moment. In fact, Philips’ MASTER
PL-H allows you to use CFLs in applications
that may have seemed unsuitable in the past.
For example, in retail outlets, shopping malls,
department stores, hifi shops, supermarkets and
DIY shops, MASTER PL-H is already enhancing
shopping experiences across the globe. Shoppers
are staying longer and buying more, feeling
relaxed and comfortable because flicker-free
operation and superior colour rendering ensures
colours are seen in their natural, rich state.
MASTER PL-H lamps are an ideal solution for
general lighting in these applications and can be
combined with compact discharge and accent
lighting. Plus, the added benefits of low mainte-
nance and efficiency ensure a cost-effective,
long-lasting clear bright environment in the shop.
Maximum visual comfort
Specially designed HF gear guarantees flicker-free
operation for optimum visual comfort.
The PL-H system
‘Amalgam’ technology ensures optimum performance
even under a wide operating temperature range in
the luminaire.

The BJB lamp holder makes relamping fast
and foolproof. The central pin guides insertion
and the multiple bayonet catches secure it in
place. Just push and turn.
MASTER PL-H. More style, lower cost.
Now, you can use compact fluorescent systems to light applications such as this
MASTER PL-H’s long lifetime and low mainte-
nance costs also makes it an ideal choice for
lighting for public areas. Not only does the
MASTER PL-H help people feel better, interiors
become friendlier and more approachable.
And hot re-strike means the lighting will always
be switched on the instant power is restored
after a power failure. MASTER PL-H is perfect
anywhere where a lot of high quality light is
needed at a low cost of ownership.
Lower costs:
• Average rated lifetime of >20K hours
• High lumen maintenance of 85% after 10K hours
• Lighting installation require less re-lamping
than many other solutions
• Save on expensive man-hours and lamp
replacement costs
Combine that with the capital savings of using
fewer luminaires, and you can recommend
MASTER PL-H as a competitive solution.
Perfect for applications such as airports, train stations,
town halls, schools and exhibition centres.

Answer the trend for higher lighting levels
Now, you can use compact fluorescent systems to light applications such as this
As a member of the Philips Compact
Fluorescent family (which includes lamps
for general lighting, downlighting and public
lighting), MASTER PL-H continues our tradition
of longer life and higher lumen maintenance in
compact fluorescents. Moreover, as an original
breakthrough in lamp technology, MASTER PL-H
enables you to answer the
trend for higher
general lighting levels and use
compact
fluorescent luminaires for projects where it was
previously not possible. For example, in outdoor
residential areas and city centres as well as
sports halls and arenas, MASTER PL-H’s soft,
glare-free natural white light enhances the
atmosphere and environment and helps them
come alive.
• They provide low cost maintenance thanks to
a service lifetime of 16K hours (min. 90%
survivors)
• They maintain light output, even at low
operating temperatures, thanks to the applied
Amalgam technology
• Can be used to replace high-pressure mercury
lamps in new installations
Double Award Winner At New York’s Lightfair
International 2003, MASTER PL-H recently won
two awards: one in the ‘Best Systems Category’,
together with Advance Transformer, and BJB Electric,
and one in the prestigious ‘Energy Category’.
