1.6 Intended Use
The warning device is component of an alarm system. The warning device is
suitable for the monitoring of a sensor in the Zone 0 hazardous area of containers,
tanks or double-walled pipes.
The warning device must only be installed in a suitable control cabinet or
NVO5-KV installation housing.
Only one the following sensors must be connected to the warning device:
NVF-104/34-PF overflow sensor
NVFRH-125E overflow sensor
NVF-12* overflow sensor
KVF-103-PF oil level sensor
ON/OFF switch, customer-side
The devices are only approved for appropriate and intended use. Ignoring these
instructions will void any warranty and absolve the manufacturer from any liability.
The device must only be operated in the ambient temperature range and at the
relative humidity (non-condensing) specified.
1.7 Improper Use
Protection of the operating personnel and the overall system is not ensured if the
product is not being used according to its intended purpose.
The equipment is not suitable for isolating signals in high current applications
unless this is noted separately in the corresponding datasheet.
1.8 Mounting/Installation
Prior to mounting, installation, and commissioning of the device you should make
yourself familiar with the device and carefully read the instruction manual.
The device must be disconnected from the power supply prior to installation and
maintenance. The power supply may be activated only after all the circuits
required for operation have been fully assembled and connected.
The devices must be installed outside of the hazardous area.
The device must not be installed at locations where corrosive vapors may be
present.
The devices fulfill a degree of protection IP20 according to IEC/EN 60529.
The devices are designed for use in pollution degree 2 and overvoltage
category III as per IEC/EN 60664-1.

EN - 5
EN
The installation instructions in accordance with IEC/EN 60079-14 must be
observed.
Circuits of type of protection "Ex i" (intrinsically safe) which have been operated
with circuits of other type of protections must not be used as "Ex i" circuits
afterwards.
Intrinsically safe circuits of associated apparatus (installed in safe areas) can be
led into hazardous areas, whereby special attention must be paid to maintain
separation distances to all non-intrinsically safe circuits according to the
requirements in IEC/EN 60079-14.
The respective peak values of the field device and the associated apparatus with
regard to explosion protection should be considered when connecting intrinsically
safe field devices with intrinsically safe circuits of associated apparatus
(verification of intrinsic safety). Make sure to observe IEC/EN 60079-14 and
IEC/EN 60079-25.
1.9 Operation, Maintenance, Repair
The devices must not be repaired, changed or manipulated. If there is a defect,
the product must always be replaced with an original device.
1.10 Delivery, Transport, Disposal
Check the packaging and contents for damage.
Check if you have received every item and if the items received are the ones you
ordered.
Keep the original packaging. Always store and transport the device in the original
packaging.
Always store the device in a clean and dry environment. The permitted storage
temperature (see data sheet) must be considered.
Disposing of devices, packaging material, and possibly contained batteries must
be in compliance with the applicable laws and guidelines of the respective
country.

2 Product Specifications
2.1 Function
The warning device is a component of an alarm system. The warning device
monitors the status of a sensor installed in containers, tanks, or double-walled
pipes. The warning device is suitable for use:
As a safeguard to prevent flammable liquids from overflowing or leaking
To detect the oil layer thickness
As a replacement for a faulty NVO5-11 warning device
LEDs at the device indicate alarm, sensor fault and system and sensor status.
In the event of an alarm, an additional acoustic signal sounds.
Input
Only one of the following devices may be connected to the warning device:
NVF-104/34-PF overflow sensor
NVFRH-125E overflow sensor
NVF-12* overflow sensor
KVF-103-PF oil level sensor
ON/OFF switch, customer-side
ON/OFF switches may be:
Floating switches
Reed contacts
Mechanical switches
The ON/OFF switch sends an input signal to the warning device:
0Ω= closed
∝Ω= open
Output
If required, you can connect a remote alarm or a central monitoring system to the
volt-free relay contacts on the outputs.
Connect a central monitoring system to the alarm relay.
Connect a remote alarm, for example a sounder, to the signal relay.
