1.0 OVERVIEW
Model PT2008 is a Remote Annunciator and Data Logger for alarm and data display of
PT900 series Gas Monitor & Controller System. The annunciator/Data Logger is factory
programmed to operate in either of two modes:
Slave Mode: In this mode the data is transmitted to the annunciator by a remote
transmitter model PT710. In this mode PT710 Transmitter sends the data for all the
control modules in the main control panel. In the slave mode multiple remote annunciator
can be connected over single RS485 Network.
Master Mode: In this mode the annunciator collects the data from all the control modules
in the main control panel. Only one annuciator can be connected on single RS485
Network.
For establishing communication link between the PT750 Annunciator and the PT900 Series
Gas Monitor:
Refer to Figure 3 if your application requires the use of only one annunciator with
the main control panel
Refer to Drawing B2012124 at the end of the document if multiple Annunciators are
used with Model PT710 Remote transmitter.
For RS485 communication link always use twisted shielded data cable. The maximum
length of the cable without the use of repeater is 4000 feet.
1.1DATA DISPLAY
PT2008 Controller displays sensor location tags ( or default channel numbers) and the
sensor readings. For controller programmed for more than 8 channels, data is displayed
eight channels at a time. Each screen displays data for 15 seconds and then display is
switched for next 8 channels and so on.
1.2FRONT PANEL
On the front panel are visual alarm indicators and keypad switches to program controller
configuration. Also, the RESET and ACK key switches are used to Reset and
acknowledge any active alarms on PT900 main control panel.

1.3KEYPAD SWITCHES
RESET: When pressed it will Reset any currently active alarms on PT900 Main Control
Panel
ACK: Pressing the key will bypass active alarms on PT900 Main Control Panel for 30
minutes. The Bypass message is sent the control module in main control panel.
After 30 minutes if any sensor is still in alarm state the alarm relays will be
activated again.
PRGM: Press this key to enter into controller configuration mode.
ENTER, UP & DOWN: These keys are used while editing controller configuration.

2.0 INSTALLATION AND START UP
PT2008 Annunciator can be mounted direct to the wall or panel. Refer to figure 2 for the
size of the enclosure and mounting hole dimensions. The monitor should be installed
approximately 5 feet above ground at eye level to view LCD. Avoid installation of the
enclosure with LCD facing the direct sunlight.
Two (2) each ½” cable glands are provided for power & RS485 cable connections. Also a 4 Pin box
receptacle for RS232 Cable is installed on the bottom of the enclosure.

2.1 Wiring PT2008 Termination Board.
For wiring see figure 3. Also see drawings at the end of this document for wiring with
PT900 rack-mount control monitor and PT710 Remote transmitter. Figure 3 shows the
termination board of the annunciator.
The termination board consists of AC/ DC power supplies , alarm relays and terminal
blocks for user connection. Each terminal block on the board is properly labeled.

2.2 AC POWER INPUT
Refer to figure 3. Connect 110/220 VAC power to the Din-Terminals. If only 24VDC
power is available simply disconnects DC out wires from the AC/DC Power supply and
connect external DC to RED and BLACK terminals next to power supply module.
2.3 CONNECTING RS485 DATA CABLE
RS485 link is used to communicate between the PT900 Series Control Monitors or PT710
Data Transmitter and PT2008 annunciator. If PT2008 Annunciator is operating in a slave
mode then PT710 Remote transmitter must be used to connect establish communication
between PT900 Control Panel and the annunciator. In the mode multiple Annunciator can
be used on a single RS485 network. However, if PT2008 is to run in Master Mode than
only one Annunciator can be used and must be connected directly to RS485 connector on
PT900 Control panel. Thus PT710 data transmitter is not used.
A two (2) conductor shielded cable (data quality type) must be used to avoid noise
transmission. Maximum of 4000 feet cable can be used for data link. Connect the
shielding wire of the cable to the terminal “Shield Gnd” or connect to external field ground
if available.
The RS485 terminal is simply connected to the RS485 terminal on the PT710 Remote
transmitter. Be sure to connect each pole of the terminal with right polarity.

WARNING
Do not run the RS485 cable close to high power lines or areas with high magnetic field.
High power lines induce noise into the data cable which may distort the communication
between the monitor and the annunciator.
2.4START UP
Complete the following procedure for the normal operation.
1. Complete the wiring and mounting of the enclosure described in earlier section.
2. Verify all the wiring connections to be correct and secure.
3. Connect the shielding wire of the communication cable to Field ground.
2.5APPLY POWER
Apply the power to the unit. Upon power up the LCD will display the startup message of
the unit model number and current software revision.
After 5 to 8 seconds the unit will return to normal operation by collecting data from the
control modules on PT900 Series gas monitor.
2.6INITIAL UNIT SETUP
Refer section on Unit Configuration to change factory defaults and modify initial settings.
Verify Date and Time are correct
Verify Number of Active Control Modules on PT900 Series Control panel is same as
active channel count. Default is 12 channels.
Modify Sensor Location tags if necessary
