equipment.

It is recommended that the customer install an AC surge protector in the AC outlet to which this

Wipe the unit with a clean, dry cloth. Never use cleaning fluid or similar chemicals. Do not spray
cleaners directly on the unit or use forced air to remove dust.
Keep the device away from excessive heat and humidity and keep the device free from vibration and

Do not directly cover the device or block the airflow to the device with insulation or any other

QUICK CONTROLLER OVERVIEW
The front panel of the C36 has a pair of blue LEDs. See the below table for more information.

PREPARING TO INSTALL THE CONTROLLER
Installing the C36 is similar to installing a network switch. If you have installed a managed switch
before, the process will be very similar.
Tools required:
oPhillips screwdriver (if using rack-mount brackets).
oPC or laptop with Ethernet interface and a web browser (an integrated DB-9 port or USB-
to-Serial adapter may be necessary if you would like to use the console interface).
oEthernet cable.
INSTALLATION
1. Open the box and remove the unit.
2. If mounting the switch in a standard 19” AV rack, attach the rack-mounting brackets that
come with the C36. If not rack-mounting, ensure that the switch is physically mounted
near power and network connections (i.e, backbone switch or firewall/router).
3. Connect power to the device.
4. Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to the LAN port on the C36.
5. You are now ready to configure the switch to an IP address that matches your network.
SETTING CONTROLLER IP ADDRESS
1. Connect the controller to power and push the power switch on the rear panel. The PWR
LED will light up and the fans will start.
2. If you are using a Pakedge router that has an internal IP address of 192.168.1.99, then
you can connect the controller to an available port on your router or a network switch
and skip to The Wizard. If your router is using an IP address of other than 192.168.1.99
but still on the 192.168.1.X scheme, skip to step 3. If your router is using an IP scheme
other than 192.168.1.X, skip to step 11.
3. Connect an Ethernet cable from the C36 to your router while the router is on.
4. In the browser, enter the C36’s default IP address of 192.168.1.236 into the address bar
and press <ENTER>.

5. A web page will appear prompting you for a username and password. Enter pakedge as
the username and pakedgec for the password. Then click Login to log in to the web
administration portal.
6. Once you have logged into the controller, you will see the Dashboard.
7. Hover your mouse over Settings towards the top. Click Macrocell Controller.

8. Click LAN Settings.
9. Enter the correct default gateway. Click Save to finalize the settings. Now that your
controller has the correct default gateway, you can skip to the section titled The Wizard.
10. Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to the C36 directly.
11. Configure the PC with a static IP address of 192.168.1.10 and subnet mask of
255.255.255.0 and then open any browser (Mozilla Firefox is preferred).
12. In the browser, enter the C36’s default IP address of 192.168.1.237 into the Address Bar
and press <ENTER>.
13. A web page will appear prompting you for a username and password. Enter pakedge as
the username and pakedgec for the password. Then click Login to log in to the web
administration portal.

14. Hover your mouse over Settings at the top. Click Macrocell Controller.
15. Click LAN Settings.
16. Enter the correct IP address information. Click Save to finalize the settings. You can now
connect the controller to your network.

THE WIZARD
The Wizard will discover, manage and configure your access points. Making it a quick and easy tool to
get your wireless network up and running.
STEP 1: FIRMWARE
1. Log in to the C36 and hover your mouse over Wizard towards the top. Click Run Wizard.
2. Click Start to begin the wizard setup.
3. The access points must all be on the same firmware version. If there is any inconsistency in
the firmware version, the C36 will notify you.
4. Click Ok to be redirected to the AP-Firmware update page.
