Setting up the DVD Movie Playback Kit
IMPORTANT! Before using this product, read
the Xbox Video Game System nstruction
Manual for important safety information and
health warnings. Please retain both the Xbox
Video Game System nstruction Manual and
this manual for future reference and warranty
information. The limited warranty covering this
Xbox DVD Movie Playback Kit is contained in
the Xbox Video Game System nstruction Manual.
To place batteries in the remote control
1. Remove the battery compartment
cover.
2. Place two AAA batteries (sold
separately) into the remote control.
3. Replace the batterycompartment
cover.
Notes about batteries:
Keep batteries out of reach of children.
Do not mix old and new batteries, or batteries
of different types. Follow manufacturer’s
instructions on battery use.
Remove old, weak, or worn-out batteries
promptly
Always recycle or dispose of used batteries in
accordance with your local ordinances.
f a battery leaks, remove all batteries and
thoroughly clean the battery compartment
with a damp paper towel, or follow the battery
manufacturer’s recommendations for cleanup.
f fluid from the battery comes into contact
with skin or clothes, flush skin with water
immediately.
1. f the Xbox console is on, press the
power button on the Xbox console to
turn it off.
2. Connect the infrared receiver to any
controller port on the front of the
Xbox console.
The Xbox DVD Movie Playback Kit lets you
play DVDs on your Xbox console. The DVD
Movie Playback Kit consists of three items:
•nfrared receiver
•Remote control
•nstruction Manual
The DVD Movie Playback Kit is for use
exclusively with the Xbox™ video game system
from Microsoft.

Playing DVD Movies
To play DVDs
1. With the infrared receiver connected
to the Xbox console, press the power
button on the Xbox console to turn it on.
2. Press the eject button to open the
disc tray.
3. Place the DVD on the disc tray with
the label facing up.
4. Press the eject button to close the
disc tray. The DVD will begin playing.
Selecting DVDs
The DVD Movie Playback Kit can
play only region 1 DVDs that have
this logo:
Avoiding Damage to DVDs or to the
Disc Drive
Do not leave a disc in the Xbox console for
extended periods when not in use.
Do not move the Xbox console while the power
is on and a disc is inserted.
Do not apply labels, stickers, or other foreign
objects to discs.
Using the REMOTE control and OnScreen Display
Use the DVD Movie Playback Kit remote
control to operate DVD movie playback. Most
basic features are available on the remote.
Button Operation
Display Display onscreen controls.
Play Play video from current
location.
Reverse Fast reverse play back. f
DVD is paused, slow reverse
playback. Cycles through
playback speeds.
Forward Fast forward. f DVD is
paused, slow forward. Cycles
through playback speeds.

Skip - Go to beginning of current
chapter. f this button is
pressed within first two
seconds of a chapter, go to
beginning of previous
chapter. f DVD is paused, go
to previous frame.
Stop Stop playback.
Pause Pause playback.
Skip + Go to next chapter. f DVD is
paused, go to next frame.
Title Go to title menu.
nfo Display title, chapter, and
elapsed time on the screen.
Select Accept current selection. f a
specific chapter number is
entered, go to that chapter.
Arrows Move selection up, down,
left, or right.
Menu Go to main menu.
Back Go to previous menu. f at
main menu, resume
playback.
Numbers Enter specific chapter
number, then press Select.
Cycle through available subtitle
languages.
Cycle through available viewing
angles.
Cycle through available audio
tracks, including multilingual
tracks.
Select video, audio, and
language options from setup
menu.
Looping Playback. First press
selects A point. Second press
selects B point and begins
looping playback between A and
B. Third press turns off looping
playback.
Magnify picture. Toggles
between zoom settings. When
zoomed, use arrows to move
around picture.
Additional features are available in the
onscreen display.

Parental Control
If DVD Features Don’t Work
Some DVDs may not support all of the features
of the Xbox DVD Movie Playback Kit, such as
subtitles, multilingual audio tracks, multiple
viewing angles, and slow-motion play. For more
information about supported features, see the
documentation from the DVD producer.
n rare instances, certain DVDs may not
operate properly. This is primarily due to
variations in the manufacturing process or
software encoding of the DVD video software.
If There Is No Video or Sound, or If
Video or Sound Quality Is Poor
Properly connect your AV cable or AV pack.
For setup and audio and video troubleshooting
information, see the Xbox Video Game System
nstruction Manual or the AV pack
instructions.
You can limit the type of DVD content played
on the Xbox video game system based on the
MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America)
rating level. To determine the rating level of
your DVD movie, see your DVD movie
documentation. By default, the Xbox video
game system is set to play all content. To
change the level of content that can be
pla ed
1. Turn on the Xbox console with no disc
in the disc tray.
2. Select Settings, and then select
Parental Control.

Movie Playback Kit or Xbox console in any way.

3. Select Movies, and then select the
level you want.
The Xbox game system will play DVDs that
are rated at or below the selected level. For
example, if the selected level is PG-13, games
rated PG-13, PG, and G can play. f you choose
any level other than All Content, you must
enter a pass code.

Installation du Module DVD vidéo
Le module DVD vidéo vous permet de lire les
DVD sur la console Xbox. Ce module se
compose de trois éléments:
•Récepteur à infrarouge
•Télécommande
•Manuel d’instructions
Le Module DVD vidéo doit être utilisé
exclusivement avec la console de jeu vidéo
Xbox™ de Microsoft.
Pour placer les piles dans la télécommande
1. Retirez le couvercle du compartiment
des piles.
2. nsérez deux piles AAA (vendues
séparément) dans la télécommande.
3. Replacez le couvercle.
Remarques concernant les piles:
Rangez les piles hors de la portée des enfants.
Évitez d’utiliser des piles usagées avec des
piles neuves, ou des piles de types différents.
Suivez les instructions fournies par le fabricant
pour l’emploi des piles.
Retirez les piles dès qu’elles sont usagées ou
faibles.
Recyclez-les ou mettez-les au rebut
conformément à la réglementation en vigueur.
Si une pile fuit, retirez toutes les piles et

Lecture de disques DVD vidéo
Pour lire des DVD
1. Une fois le récepteur à infrarouge
raccordé à la console Xbox, appuyez
sur le bouton marche/arrêt de la
console pour la mettre sous tension.
2. Appuyez sur le bouton Eject pour
ouvrir le tiroir du lecteur de CD.
3. Placez le DVD sur le tiroir (étiquette
visible).
4. Appuyez de nouveau sur le bouton
Eject pour fermer le tiroir. La lecture
du DVD commence.
Sélection de DVD
Le module DVD vidéo ne peut
lire que les DVD zone 1 portant
le logo ci-contre.
Protection des DVD et du lecteur contre
l’endommagement
Ne laissez pas de disque dans la console
Xbox si vous ne l’utilisez pas.
Évitez de déplacer la console Xbox
lorsqu’elle est sous tension et qu’elle
renferme un disque.
N’apposez pas d’étiquettes, d’autocollants
ni d’autres objets sur les disques.
