Vibrator for the Lynx system
MiniVib forms part of Lynx – our wireless alert system for people
with impaired hearing. Lynx uses various types of transmitters and
receivers that alert you to noises such as a ringing telephone or
doorbell, or the first signs of a fire.
MiniVib is a small receiver which sends out an alert via various
vibrations and different coloured LEDs if one of the transmitters
in the system is activated. The transmitters send signals wirelessly
to MiniVib. One or more repeaters may also be installed in order
to amplify the alarm signal and thus extend its range.

MiniVib on/off
MiniVib is on when supplied (but not charged).
Switching off
Hold down the button for about 6 seconds until the lamp for the
previous alarm goes out. MiniVib vibrates briefly.
Switching on
Hold down the button for about 1 second until the lamp for the
previous alarm comes on. MiniVib vibrates briefly.
Checking whether MiniVib is switched on.
Press the button briefly. When MiniVib is switched on, the pre-
vious alarm comes on and it vibrates once.
How to wear MiniVib
You can, for example, wear MiniVib on your arm or around your
wrist. Check that you can feel the vibrations.
Charging MiniVib
You must charge MiniVib before you can use it. It takes approx.
180 minutes to charge it fully. The battery will then last approx.
four days. Charge the battery fully the first time to obtain the
maximum battery service life.

Installation and function test
1. Start by installing the transmitters that are to be used. Read
the user manual for the transmitters that you are installing!
2. Test the system by activating the transmitters in the system
one at a time. MiniVib starts to vibrate and the alarm lamp
lights up. Check that the correct alarm is indicated
(see below).
Alarm indication
MiniVib can receive four different types of alarm. MiniVib
vibrates according to a certain pattern and the lamp for the
relevant alarm comes on. The vibration is repeated once.
The Alarm Call alarm can be replaced by another alarm, e.g. by
that from the Lynx Baby Alarm. Read the user manual for the
transmitters that you are installing!
Check the previous alarm
Press the button briefly. The previous alarm comes on and
vibrates once.
NOTE: If you hold down the button for more than 6 seconds, you will switch
off Mini-Vib.

Battery warning
MiniVib’s battery
When the battery power in MiniVib starts to fail, the lamp
starts to flash while MiniVib vibrates briefly. You now have ap-
proximately one day’s operation left. When the battery is almost
completely flat, MiniVib will vibrate again. Charge the battery at
once (see page 3)!
Transmitter batteries
When the battery power in the transmitter sending the
alarm starts to fail, the symbol lights up along with the
transmitter’s alarm.
Smoke detector battery
A battery warning is sent to MiniVib every 8 hours.
The and lamps then flash. Switch off the alarm by pressing
the button and change the smoke detector’s battery at once.
Night mode
If you want to switch off the alert from all alarms apart from
the fire alarm and alarm call, set MiniVib to the night mode. In
the night mode MiniVib also vibrates once when the battery is
almost completely flat.
Setting the night mode
1. Give three short presses in rapid succession on the button.
MiniVib vibrates briefly. The yellow lamp comes on and
then flashes.
Returning to the normal mode
1. Press the button once. MiniVib vibrates briefly.

Changing channels
The transmitters in the Lynx system transmit the signal wirelessly to MiniVib.
They can transmit on a total of 16 different channels (0-9, A-F). MiniVib and all
transmitters must be set to the same channel so that they can communicate. They
are pre-set to channel 9, and then operate together without alteration.
In some cases, it may be necessary to change the channel setting. If two or more
users live near one another, the alarms can interfere. This can be rectified by
changing the channel settings so that they are different for everyone. Any channel
can be selected except Channel 0. (Channel 0 is reserved for a common alert such
as a fire alarm.)
Technical data
Frequency: 433.92 MHz AM.
Number of channels: 15, and a common channel 0.
Battery: Chargeable NiMH, Varta V 40 H. Use only this type of
battery. Charging time approx 180 minutes. Operation:
approx. 4 days per charging. Battery life at least one year.
To change the battery, contact the place of purchase.
Mains adapter: Make: STH. Type: P-001B.
Strap: Elastic strap with large adjustment range. Compatible with
normal watchstrap (18 mm). When changing the strap:
release the pin with a needle.
Other: Wash-proof.
Dimensions: Diameter 38 mm, thickness 12 mm.
Weight: 12 g.
If you need to change the channel on
MiniVib, proceed as follows:
1. Connect the charging terminal
to an electric socket. In order to
access programming mode: hold
down the button while inserting
and removing the charging ter-
minal. Then release the button.

2. Change channels by pressing the
button the required number of
times. You step up through the
channels with each press of the
button.
3. To save the channel setting, wait
for 15 seconds until all the lamps
have gone out.

Troubleshooting
Type of fault Action
MiniVib is not working. • Check that MiniVib is on and that the battery is
charged (see p 3).
• Check that the transmitters are working (see
transmitter user manual).
• Check that MiniVib and the transmitters are set
to the same channel (see p 6).
• Check that Night mode is not switched on (see p 5).
• The distance from the transmitter may be too
great. Move the transmitter nearer or extend the
system with one or more repeaters (see p 2).
• If the Alarm Call is replaced by another alarm,
e.g. Lynx Baby Alarm, check that the transmitter
alarm symbol is set to alarm call (see transmitter
user manual).
The operating time is
less than two days. • Contact the place of purchase to exchange the
battery.
Cleaning and maintenance
Use a damp cloth to wipe MiniVib on the outside. Never use cleaning products
or solvents. From time to time check that the cables and connections are intact.
If there is any leakage from the battery: scrap the battery and clean the battery
plates (positive and negative) on MiniVib with a cotton bud and a little
alcohol and carefully scrape off any residue from other surfaces with the end
of a matchstick.
Repairs
If your product malfunctions, it must be repaired by a qualified technician.
Do not attempt to open the case of the device since this would invalidate the
warranty. If your product requires service, please contact your hearing care profes-
sional for assistance.
Waste disposal
This product contains electrical or electronic equipment and should be
disposed of carefully in the interests of your safety and the environ-
ment. Please contact your local hearing care professional concerning
disposal of the product. Used batteries should be taken to the nearest
recycling point in your district.

General precautions
• Different types of radiation, e.g. from NMR or CT scanners, may damage the
device. Therefore, do not wear the device in the vicinity of this type of equip-
ment. Other types of radiation (burglar alarms, room surveillance systems,
radio equipment, mobile telephones, etc) will not damage the device.
• Warning: External devices connected to the product must be safe according to
the requirements of EN 60335-1.
• Only use rechargeable batteries.

Vibrator til Lynx-systemet
MiniVib er en del af Lynx – vores trådløse varslingssystem til per-
soner med nedsat hørelse. Lynx består af forskellige typer sendere
og modtagere, som gør dig opmærksom på forskellige hændelser
som f.eks. telefon, dør og brand.
MiniVib er en lille modtager, som med forskellige vibrationer
og farvede lysdioder varsler, når en af senderne i Lynx-systemet
aktiveres. Senderen sender signalet trådløst til MiniVib. Efter
behov kan man desuden montere en eller flere forstærkere, som
øger alarmsignalets rækkevidde.

oplades helt første gang.
