Overview
LIMIT 98 professional non-contact infrared thermometer can determine surface temperature through
measuring infrared energy radiated by the target surface. Compact and lightweight design easy to carry.
Warning:
To avoid eyes injury, do not look directly in to the laser beam.

Operations:
1. Power On and Off
1.1 Press the measurement trigger (Pos.9) to turn on the thermometer, LCD screen (Pos. 2) and backlight
will turn on.
1.2 The thermometer will turn off automatically if there is no operation in 8 s.
2. Manual measurement
2.1 Aim at the target then press and hold the trigger. SCAN icon will indicate the targets temperature is
being measured.
2.2 Release trigger and the SCAN icon will disappear, and HOLD icon appear indicating that the measuring
has stopped, and the last value will be saved in the display.
3. Laser beam setup
Press Back light/Laser key (Pos.5) to turn ON or OFF the laser beam. When icon disappear from the
display you can measure without laser beam.
4. Backlight setup
Press Backlight/Laser button twice to turn on or turn off the back light on LCD display.
5. Functions setup.
5.1 Press MODE key (Pos.5) to choose between functions and values.
5.2 Press UP or DOWN key (Pos. 6 & 7) to turn ON / OFF or change value.
Note: Instrument will exit setup after 5 seconds if there are no operations.

6. MAX/MIN/AVG/DIF function
6.1 Press MODE 1 time to select MAX / MIN / AVG / DIF function (shown below),
6.2 Press arrow UP or DOWN key to change between the different functions.
6.3 The value of selected function will be shown in the secondary display.
MAX = shows the highest value in the secondary display.
MIN = shows the lowest value in the secondary display.
AVG = shows the average value in the secondary display.
DIF = shows the difference between highest and lowest value in the secondary display.
7. Emissivity setup
7.1 Press Mode key 2 times or until symbol is ashing to enter emissivity setup (shown below).
7.2 Press UP or DOWN arrow key to select desired value according to Emissivity values table.
Note: Emissivity can be adjusted from 0.01 to 1.0. Pressing the key shortly will result in value changing 1
digit at the time and holding down the key down will result in counting continually.
Instrument will exit setup after 5 seconds if there are no operations.
8. Trigger Free Measurement
8.1 Press Mode key 3 times to enter trigger free measurement setup (shown below) or until icon is
ashing on the LCD screen.

8.2 Press UP or DOWN arrow key to turn ON or OFF the trigger free function. Instrument will exit setup
after 5 seconds if there are no operations.
8.3 When trigger free function is selected the thermometer will continuously measure until you press the
trigger.
8.4 Press the trigger again, and SCAN icon will disappear, and HOLD icon appear to indicate that the
measuring has stopped, and the last value will be saved in the display.
Note: The target must be bigger than the diameter of the two laser spots to ensure accurate reading. Please
also make sure to select correct Emissivity value.
9. HIGH limit alarm setup
9.1 Press Mode key 4 times or until H symbol is ashing to select HIGH limit alarm setup (shown below).
9.2 Press UP or DOWN arrow key to turn ON and OFF the function.
9.3 When in ON position, press MODE key to see the set alarm value.
9.4 Use UP or DOWN arrow key to change the value.
Note: The value must be higher than LOW limit alarm. Pressing the key shortly will result in value changing
1 digit at the time and holding down the key down will result in counting continually. Instrument will
exit setup after 5 seconds if there are no operations.
10. Low limit alarm setup
10.1 Press Mode key 6 times or until L symbol is ashing to select Low limit alarm setup (shown below).
10.2 Press UP or DOWN arrow key to turn ON and OFF the function.
10.3 When in ON position, press MODE key to see the set alarm value.
10.4 Use UP or DOWN arrow key to change the value.
Note: The value must be lower than HIGH limit alarm. Pressing the key shortly will result in value changing
1 digit at the time and holding down the key down will result in counting continually.
Instrument will exit setup after 5 seconds if there are no operations.

11. Unit setup
11.1 Press Mode key 8 times or until C or F start ashing to enter Temperature unit setup (shown below).
11.2 Press UP or DOWN arrow keys change between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).
Note: Instrument will exit setup after 5 seconds if there are no operations.
12. Data logger setup
12.1 Limit 98 is capable for storing up to 100 data measurements.
12.2 To store data, pull and hold the trigger while pressing Mode key until LOG appears in the lower left
corner of the display.
12.3 Aim the unit at the target areal you want to record and press the Backlight / Laser button.
12.4 The recorded temperature will appear at the right side of LOG symbol.
13. Recalling data
13.1 Pull and hold the trigger while pressing Mode key until LOG appears in the lower left corner of the
display.
13.2 The Log sequence number is showed over the stored temperature reading. Over the Log icon.
13.3 Press UP or DOWN arrow key to step between stored values.
