Open the tailgate and the step. Remove the 12 screws securing the tailgate protector and remove.
Remove the six bolts (not re-used) securing the step and rotate the step forward to rest on the tailgate.
Remove the rubber cap in the center of the tailgate indicated by the arrow and remove the 8mm nut.
Fig 1
Remove the two plastic cover panels. Some vehicles may be equipped with a light kit in each of the
panels. If equipped with lights, the lights will be reinstalled into the Kicker speaker baffle later. Fig 2
Note: Light kits (GM part number: 84347814)
can be purchased separately from any
GM dealership.
Remove the wire retainers indicated. Fig 3

Install the supplied threaded clips. Fig 4
Install the amplifier mounting bracket through the hole on the right side of the tailgate. While holding the
bracket at a slight angle, as indicated in Fig 5, work the right two mounting tabs and tilt switch through the
tailgate opening. Once the first two mounting tabs and tilt switch are inside the tailgate, rotate the bracket
clockwise and lower the left side of the bracket into the tailgate. Work the amplifier mounting bracket
under the factory wire harness and slide the bracket toward the left until the mounting holes line up with
the previously installed threaded clips. Re-install the 8mm nut and rubber plug removed earlier.
Note: Scan the QR code for amplifier bracket installation video.
Install the provided M6 bolts to secure the front tabs of the
mounting bracket to the threaded clips. Re-install the wire
harness retainers removed earlier. Fig 6
Install the amplifier onto the amplifier bracket with the supplied
screws (short screws x 4). Fig. 7
Connect the amplifier harness to the amplifier and the four-pin connector to the tilt switch attached to the
amplifier bracket. Insert the plastic wire retainer into the holes provide in the amplifier bracket. Fig.7
Route the harness along the factory harness toward the passenger side of the tailgate.
Note: The tilt switch is designed to turn the speaker system off when the inner
tailgate is not in the fully down position. Failure to make this connection or
attempting to bypass this switch will result in a constant drain on the vehicle
battery. Likewise, any cutting, splicing or any other modifications made to the
amplifier harness will immediately void the warranty.

Fold the inner tailgate section down and snap
loose the plastic hinge cover on the passenger
side to aid in harness routing. Fig 8
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the rear plastic under-chassis cover by
first removing the 21 fasteners indicated by the
arrows. Next, remove the 6 hidden fasteners
indicated by the circles. These fasteners are
accessed through holes in the surrounding panel.
Finally, remove the three plastic retainers and
remove the under-chassis cover. Fig. 9
Continue to route the amplifier harness along the
factory harness to the underneath side of the
chassis near the back side of the trailer
connector. Secure amplifier harness to factory
harness with supplied wire ties. Fig 10

Disconnect the trailer connector
and install the T-harness
between the trailer connector and
the factory harness. Connect the
two-pin connector of the T-
harness to the amplifier harness.
Fig 11&12

Remove lights (if equipped) from factory cover panels and install into the speaker baffle.
Note: Lights are keyed and can only be installed one way. Do not force light into
speaker baffle incorrectly.
Lay a towel on the tailgate step to avoid scratching the face of the speaker baffle and connect the speaker
wires to the speakers. Next, install the foam strips as shown in Fig 13. Use the measurements shown to
place the shorter sections, and then place the longer sections between the short sections and against the
edge of the speaker baffle.
Note: There are two different size connectors. Make sure the large connector is
connected to the large speaker terminal and the small connector is connected
to the small speaker terminal.
Note: Make sure the speaker terminals are properly inserted into connectors. It is
possible for the speaker terminal to be inadvertently inserted between the
metal connector and the plastic insulator.
Note: The foam strips provided are longer than necessary and need to be cut to fit.

Connect the controller to the amplifier and secure by turning locking ring clockwise until finger tight.

Connect the 1/8-inch jack to the amplifier. Secure with wire ties Fig 14
Connect the USB cable to the amplifier and secure to the metal tab with supplied wire tie. Fig 15
Secure extra controller cable with wire ties.
Note: Trim wire tie ends. Make certain there are no loose ends of wire ties or wires
that can contact the plastic housing or the tailgate in order to prevent buzzes or
rattles from vibration.
Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Install speaker baffle over the step hinges and
loosely install the six supplied Torx-head bolts.
The speaker baffle must be rotated into position
starting with the top edge. It may be helpful to
have assistance in pressing the top edges of the
baffle toward the tailgate in order to get the small
retention brackets under the sheet metal. Once all six
Torx-head bolts are installed, tighten while
pushing up on the speaker baffle. Fig. 16
Note: Scan the QR code for video
of baffle installation.
Test function of speaker system. Refer to Bluetooth Controller Manual.

Note: Inner and outer tailgates must be in the fully down position for the speaker
system to operate.
Close the step over the speaker baffle and check clearance from
step to baffle. If additional clearance is needed open inner tailgate
and loosen the two hinge bolts on each side. Slide step away from
baffle and retighten hinge bolts. Recheck clearance and make sure
step still closes easily. Fig 17
Refer to Bluetooth Controller Manual for operation instructions.
