IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
People with electronic devices such as pacemakers should consult their doctor(s) before using this product.
Operation of electrical equipment in close proximity to a heart pacemaker could cause interference or
failure of the pacemaker.
Lead acid batteries generate explosive gases during the charging process. Accidental ignition by spark,
cigarette or flame could lead to explosion or fire.
Read and understand all instructions, safety warnings and warning labels before attempting to use this
jump starter. Misuse can lead to risk of fire, electric shock or personal injury.
1. NEVER expose this product to rain, snow, ocean spray or any other damp environments. NEVER
immerse this product in water.
2. DO NOT use this jump starter if it has been dropped, damaged or immersed in liquid. Serious injury
could occur.
3. Keep the area around the battery well ventilated. Build-up of gases could lead to an explosion.
4. DO NOT smoke or light matches near a battery.
5. ALWAYS wear approved eye protection when working with batteries. If battery acid splashes into
your eyes, flush immediately with cold running water. Continue flushing for at least 20 minutes,
then seek immediate medical attention.
6. NEVER wear a watch or metal pieces of jewelry near a lead-acid battery. If the metal touches the
battery, a short circuit could occur causing severe skin damage.
7. Wear protective clothing. If battery acid gets on skin or clothing, wash the affected area
immediately with soap and water. If the skin becomes red, sore or irritated, seek immediate
medical attention.
8. Be careful not to drop a metal tool onto the battery. It could cause a spark, short circuit or explosion.
9. NEVER allow the black and red clamps to touch a metal surface or each other. Store the clamps in
their holders when not in use.
10. Keep the product out of the reach of children.
11. ALWAYS keep the unit in a dry, firm and level area when in use. Keep all cords and body parts away
from the vehicle’s moving engine.
12. BEFORE connecting the jump starter to a battery, make sure the ignition is switched OFF.
13. Disconnect the negative (black) jumper cable FIRST. NEVER disconnect the positive (red) cable first
unless the vehicle has a positive ground system.
14. Keep battery away from intense heat or direct sunlight. An overheated battery may explode.
Jump Starter Manual V. 12.1!7

IMPORTANT:
1. Recharge the unit after each use. Use only the supplied AC charger and cords or a KEMAX battery
charger to recharge the jump starter. If you must use a DC power source, do not charge for more
than four hours to prevent battery damage.
2. Make sure the jump starter is OFF before commencing to charge.
3. Use only KEMAX accessories with this product. NEVER put anything into the power socket except
the cords supplied with this product.
4. This product is not to be used with other products that draw more than 20 Amps.
5. For use with 12V DC battery systems only. Do not attempt to use with any other types of batteries.
6. DO NOT use this in place of your vehicle battery. This product is for jump starting only. It does not
replace a dead battery.
7. If the vehicle to be jump started has an on-board computer system, check the owner’s manual before
attempting to jump start the engine. Jump starting with this unit may cause damage to some
computer systems.
8. Protect this product from moisture, excessive heat or direct sunlight.

10. Make sure all parts are in proper working order before each use. Replace damaged parts
immediately only with original KEMAX replacement parts.

problem may be something other than the battery. Stop jump starting and look for other causes.

Section 2
BATTERY
Before using the battery pack, please read carefully and understand all instructions and cautionary
markings on the battery pack, battery charger and product using battery.
Do not incinerate the battery pack even if it is severely damaged or is completely worn out. The battery
pack may explode.
Do not carry battery packs in bags, pockets, tool boxes, drawers etc. together with loose metal objects.
Battery pack terminals could be short circuited causing damage to the battery pack, severe burns or fire.
This product contains a maintenance-free, non-spillable, sealed lead-acid battery which must be recycled
or disposed of properly. Contact your local refuse management authority for disposal locations in your
area.
The battery may not be fully charged when you unpack the product for the first time. Attach the jump
starter to either the AC adapter supplied together with the jump starter or a KEMAX battery charger with the
appropriate connection plug for 48 hours before use until the charging state indicator shows full. The
internal electronics will protect the jump starter from overcharging when attached to the AC charger or a
KEMAX battery charger.
Charge the jump starter battery pack at temperatures between +10°C and +40°C.
Store the jump starter in a place that will not exceed +50°C.
CHARGING THE BATTERY FOR THE FIRST TIME
When you unpack the jump starter for the first time, the battery may not be fully charged. Attach the jump
starter to either the AC adapter supplied together with the jump starter or a KEMAX battery charger with the
appropriate connection plug for approximately 48 hours before use. The green LED charge indicator will
light up when the battery is fully charged. To check the charge level, press the red voltage test button (4).
RECHARGING THE BATTERY
The battery can be recharged using either AC or DC current. Cables are provided for both sources of
power. For faster and more effective charging, choose any KEMAX battery charger with the two-pin
charging plug.
Jump Starter Manual V. 12.1!9

CHARGING
ALWAYS recharge the jump starter after use or when the red low voltage warning LED indicator flashes or
the low voltage buzzer sounds. Leaving the battery in a discharged state will considerably shorten the life
of the battery.
Recharge the battery at least once every three months with the supplied AC adapter (20) or use a KEMAX
battery charger for continued maintenance charging. The internal electronics monitor the battery status and
will prevent over-charging. Keeping the battery fully charged will improve the life of the battery.
AC ADAPTER (20)
To charge this jump starter from a normal household socket, plug the AC adapter (20) supplied with this
product into the wall socket. Then use the connection pin to plug into the socket (5) in the front panel of the
jump starter. Charge until the status indicator LED shows full.
DC ADAPTER (21)
To charge the jump starter from a 12V boat or car accessory socket, insert the cigarette lighter plug of the
DC adapter (21) supplied with this product into a 12V DC cigarette lighter socket in your vehicle or boat and
put the other end (output pin) into the socket (5) on the front panel of the jump starter until the battery
status indicator shows full.
