Scope of Delivery

The following is included in the delivery:

•Terminal controller

•Two housing L-brackets for mounting into 19" module

Validity of the Documentation

This documentation is valid for terminal controllers of the series IF-4070 with software as of version 7.12.3.

It contains information on installation, connection and initial operation. For translation reasons, the annotation texts

in the figures are in English.

Notes on Installation and Wiring

This documentation is intended for use by authorized persons trained in electrical engineering who are

responsible for installing and starting up the terminal controller.

Intended Use

Terminal controllers are intended for controlling Interflex slave terminals managed by Interflex software. Any other

use is not in accordance with the intended purpose and is therefore not permitted.

Storage

Store the terminal controller in a dry place. Before storing devices with optional built-in emergency power supply,

you must set the accumulator switch on the front side to the OFF position.

Disposal

Once its service life ends, the device must be disposed of properly as electronic waste. The owner can

dispose of the device himself or return it to the manufacturer.

The terminal controller complies with European standards valid at the time of printing. Modifications

to the device are not permitted.

All technical information herein is accurate at the time of printing. It is, however, not to be deemed in

Function

This chapter provides information on device functions, switches, and power supply.

The terminal controller is designed:

•for operation with the Interflex software IF-6010, IF-6020 or IF-6040.

•to control up to 16 slave terminals.

•to save IN, OUT, absence reason as well as access time stamps (times) as well as events from slave

terminals.

•for offline operation. The terminal controller takes over functions of the Interflex software during offline

operation, e.g., it checks and acknowledges booking authorizations when identification is performed on a slave

terminal.

•to control external devices. Eight relays switch electrical devices up to 3V/ 2A, e.g. electric door openers or the

inputs of alarm systems. Relay functions and switching times can be parameterized via the Interflex software

•to record sensor statuses. Eight inputs record the switching actions of floating feedback sensors. The sensors

can be configured as indicators or counting contacts1via the Interflex software.

Interfaces

The terminal controller is equipped with the following "interfaces":

•Ethernet 10/100 Base T for connection to a host PC with Interflex software

•Ethernet service interface for TELNET or SSH connections

•1x RS232 host interface as alternative to Ethernet connection

•1x RS485 host interface as alternative to Ethernet connection

•3x RS485 BUS interfaces for connection of 16 slave terminals.

Up to 8 slave terminals can be connected and operated on each interface.

•8 inputs for connection of floating indicators or counting contacts up to 20 Hz

•8 relays with NO/NC contacts and a switching power of 30V 2A

Power Supply

Power is supplied either with 230VAC/110VAC alternating current or with a PoE-capable device IEE 802.af of

power class 3 (3= up to 13 Watt). A version for low-voltage operation with 12VDC/VAC to 30VDC/VAC is optionally

available. We recommend 18VDC (order number of plug-in power supply unit: 41-10063).

Controller Housing

This chapter provides information on the intended use of the sockets, the functions of the LEDs and

switches and the installed electronics.

Sockets

The following sockets are used for connecting devices:

•1x RJ45 socket with RS232 interface for connection to a service device

•1x RJ45 socket with RS232 interface for connection to the host

•1x RJ45 socket with RS485 interface for connection to the host

•3x RJ45 socket with RS485 interface for connection of BUS data cables with slave terminals

•1x RJ45 socket for connection to Ethernet network

•1x USB socket. The socket will be used for future applications

Reset Button

The RST button ends active processes and triggers a reboot.

Kaltst Switch

This switch is used to delete saved data and set default parameters.

SW Switch

The SW switch is used to set the standard IP address 172.18.70.52 and temporarily store the IP address set.

Further information on activating the switching functions can be found in chapter: >Setting Default

Parameters<

AKKU Switch

The AKKU switch is for switching the accumulator ON/OFF on devices with optional emergency power supply. After

the switch is set to ON, the AKKU LED lights up and indicates that the accumulator is charging.

Controller Back Side

This chapter provides information on the controller back side and the installed electronics.

The mains cable with Schuko plug, the openings for inserting signal cables and cable strain reliefs with cable ties

as well as the two screw nuts for fastening the cover are on the back side of the unit.

L-brackets and retaining plates can be screwed to the sides for mounting into 19" rack systems.

Danger of electric shock.

People can be seriously hurt or killed through physical contact with 230-volt electricity.



Unplug the Schuko plug prior to opening the housing cover.

Installation and Mounting

This chapter provides information on installation and mounting options.

The terminal controller is designed for operation in dry rooms at temperatures from +5° C to +40°C.

Mounting

The housing brackets included in the delivery can be used for mounting the controller into 19” modules or screw

fastening to a wall. Without angle brackets, the terminal controller can be placed on a tabletop or even stacked.

Electrical Wiring

This chapter shows the electrical wiring for connecting slave terminals, sensors and electrical devices.

There is a danger of electric shock in case of faulty 230VAC installations.

Severe injuries, or in worst case even death, can result.

Installation of 230V systems as well as Schuko sockets may only be carried out by

electricians or other qualified persons.

NOTE

For secure, reliable operation, the following must be observed:

Our specified cable lengths. The specifications indicate the permitted cable lengths that

guarantee reliable system function.

Our specified cable type. Install only data and control cables with cable shielding, e.g.

cable type JY(ST)Y with anti-static shield.

Electrical installation standards. The terminal controller may only be operated via electrical

systems that comply with current national standards, e.g. DIN VDE 0100.

Separator in compliance with EN 600950-1. Install an easily accessible Schuko socket with

its own fuse in the vicinity of the terminal controller.

An even distribution of the slave terminals among the 3 BUS interfaces. Without changing

the default interface settings, you can connect up to six slave terminals to BUS 1, up to four

slave terminals to BUS 2 and up to six slave terminals to BUS 3. Always connect a slave

terminal with address 1 to BUS 1.

Connections

This chapter shows how to connect the power supply and the data cables. All cables and cable shields

must be connected as specified in order to comply with the required EMC

values.

Connection of the Power Supply

The terminal controller with mains cable and Schuko plug is designed for operation with 230 VAC power.

NOTE

Operate the terminal controller either with the voltage indicated on the type label or with

PoE-capable devices of power class 3. If operation with low voltage and PoE is requested,

use an 18 VDC plug-in AC adapter (part number 41-10063) as power supply. Note our

instructions on grounding for PoE operation.

Plug the Schuko plug into the power outlet just prior to initial operation.

Connection of Low-voltage Supply for Terminal Controllers with Low-voltage Option

Use a transformer or a DC power unit with 12VDC/VAC to 30VDC/VAC to power terminal controllers. We

recommend 18VDC 1A. Terminal controllers with emergency power supply (option) require a transformer or a

DC power unit with 12VDC/VAC to 30VDC/VAC. The minimum voltage for charging the battery is 18 VDC/AC.

When operating a terminal controller on a PoE device, an additional power supply with 230VAC is notallowed

because this can lead to malfunctions in connection with PoE devices. If this type of operation is nonetheless

required, an additional low-voltage power supply with 18VDC 1A must be used. (Plug-in power supply unit,

Order number 41-10063)

The low-voltage supply is connected to screw connector KL.1, taking +/- polarity into account with DC

current operation.

The low-voltage cable must be secured with the cable strain relief.

To comply with the EMC values, the terminal controller requires a protective grounding. Connect the

protective ground conductor (PE) to the marked grounding terminal on the housing or to terminal 3.

Connection to PoE

Use a PoE device of power class 3 (13 Watt) for power supply.

NOTE

To comply with the required EMC values, the terminal controller needs a functional grounding.

This connection is made via the PoE device and the patch cable. Check if there is functional

grounding on the PoE device. Ground PoE devices without functional grounding via existing

soldering lugs or screw terminals.

Connection to Ethernet Networks

The terminal controller is set up for connection to 10/100 MB Ethernet networks. For an initial connection you can

use the default IP address marked on the housing.

LED signals

The Link LED indicates a network connection.

The Speed LED lights up when there is a 100 MB connection, it is off when there is a 10 MB

connection.

Connection to Serial PC Ports

An RS232 connection can be used as an alternative to a network connection. An RS485 connection can also be

realized with a convertor on the PC side.

Please note:

The serial interface is parameterized at the time of initial operation.

The shields of the data cables are grounded via the RJ45 female connectors. Use, therefore, only

shielded cables and shielded connection components like HiRose male connectors, etc.

An RS232/485 converter is usually needed for an RS485 connection.

Data transfer is carried out at 9600 Bd. It can be changed to 1200 Bd or 19200 Bd at the time of initial

operation.
