Seal it tighlly wilh the label furnished wilh eijr

spool and keep il until it is time lo develop.

The lower cmpry spool is lhen moved to tlie

The Diophrogm. - As lhe annexed direclions for operaling lhe

shulter indicate, evcry shuller is provlded with a diaphragm or slop

whidr can be reduced or enlarged at will. Iusl a few words aboul

how slops are used. If tt is inlended lo lake a piclure in whidr an

obiect in lhe foreground and the badrground with houses, moun-

lalng, lrees, &c. appear equally sharp, a stop is needed. By means

of a small lever menlloned In the directions lhe diaphragm can be

closed more or less lo oblain a beller depth of focus. The rule ls:

lhe rmaller the dlapbragm, lhe grealer lhe depth of focur

and thc longer lhe cxpo3ure. Snapshols reqrgre larger dia-

phragnrs and lime exposures smaller ones.

mark lo B. A slight pressure applied to the shuiler will open if,

the shutter remaining open unlil lhe pressure cepies. In this woy,

very short as well aJ longer exposurcs are positble.

For lnrlanlaneoul and sbort llme cxporurcf of definite du-

ralion sel lhe disc lo lhe corresponding speed as indicated by

one of the numbers. 1 is equal to 1 second, 2 lo ,lr, 5 to 116,

1o lo l[s sec.,elc. Set the poinler to one of lhese figureq according

lo the time of exposure desired, and press lhe. release, the shutler

of course having been previously set. The shutter will lhen open,

remain open for the lime desired, and close agaln aulomallcally.

For inslanfaneous speeds lhe delaycd llme me&anfrm (auto-

malic release) can be employed. After lensioning sel lhe lime de-

slred and depress lhe red lever F. When lhe release is then pressed

lhe medranism delays lhe release of lhe shutlcr so lhat the aclual

cxposure is delaycd for a few seconds. The shuller is lhen sel
