How to Get the Best Results
Using the HOST Liberator®
Be sure to read separate Safety & Maintenance
Instructions before using.
Plugging Liberator into Electrical Outlet
Plug the Liberator power cord into electrical outlet.
Do not use an extension cord.
Removing Liberator from Caddy
Lock Liberator handle in position by pointing red
arrowhead down. ote that there are 2 handle locks,
one on each side of machine.
Unlock locking bolts on front of caddy.

Locate the switch control panel
on the back of the Liberator. Turn
on machine brushes by pressing
the black switch and drive the
Liberator off the caddy.

How to Clean Carpet with the Liberator
Lawnmower Vacuuming
Vacuum in 2 directions.
Before Applying HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner
Place bucket on its side for 10 minutes. This will help
to distribute the liquid ingredients evenly throughout
the cleaner.
CAUTION: onhazardous per OSHA and EU standards when used as directed. ontoxic via
ingestion, inhalation or skin absorption. ot a sensitizer. ot a skin or eye irritant. However,
persons with unusual skin sensitivity should protect skin from direct contact. In case of contact
with eyes, rinse with water to remove any particles. Improper use may contribute to increased
risk of health effects. OT A WHMIS CO TROL PRODUCT.
Replacing Lid on Bucket
Be sure to wipe off the edge of bucket before replacing the lid.
This will prevent leaking.

Vacuum the area with the Liberator in 2 directions:
north/south and east/west. The more vacuuming
the better to remove as much dry dirt as possible.

In hallways and open areas,
vacuum lawnmower style in
2 directions: north/south
and east/west.

Filling the Applicator
Fill the Applicator with up to 12 pounds (5.4 kilos)
of HOST. Do not overfill!

Note: Standard (white) and firm (zebra) brushes must be broken in before using for the first time.
To break in brushes, run the Liberator on smooth concrete surface for 15 minutes.

How to Clean Carpet with the Liberator
Applying with the Applicator
Open hole covers for HOST application.
Choose:
• Light (1 cover open)
• Medium (2 covers open)
• Heavy (3 covers open)
Walk the Applicator over the area of dirty
carpet. DO OT apply to an area larger than
10 feet x 50 feet (approx. 50 sq. meters).
Keep Applicator 1 foot away from wall.

Applying by Hand
Apply a handful of HOST to each square yard
(or square meter) of dirty carpet.
Do not apply to an area larger than 10 feet by 10 feet
(approx. 10 sq. meters) to keep HOST from drying out.
Begin brushing as soon as you have finished applying.

Brushing with the Liberator
Make sure the white va uum swit h is OFF.
Make three passes over the area. Use push-pull strokes just like when you vacuum.

It is not necessary to apply HOST
next to the wall or to areas which
do not appear dirty. Apply only to
dirty areas of the carpet.

Vacuuming
Turn both ma hine brushes and va uum swit hes ON.
Vacuum the area you have just finished brushing in
2 directions: north/south and east/west.
Continue to vacuum in 2 directions until all visible
HOST is recovered.
The Liberator vacuums best if HOST is a bit damp.
If Carpet is Still Dirty
If carpet is still dirty, reapply HOST and brush again.
Vacuum in 2 directions.
For Very Dirty Carpet
If carpet is very dirty, PREP®Traffic Lane Booster may
be necessary.
To use PREP:
Mix 1 part PREP in 4 parts water
in a trigger spray bottle.
Mist PREP lightly on dirty carpet.
Apply HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner as before.
Brush with the Liberator.
Vacuum.
CAUTION: Improper use or dilution may cause damage to surfaces and increased risk of health effects.

Emptying the Bagless Hopper
Empty the bagless hopper often to avoid logging filters.
Pull out the hopper.
Empty into trash container.
Replace the hopper and insure that it is completely
closed to avoid vacuum power loss.
DISPOSAL INSTRUCTIONS: Wastes resulting from the use
of this product may be disposed of on site. Please recycle
empty plastic buckets and lids.

Preparation
For dry spots and spills, vacuum area first.
For wet spots and spills, blot or scrape up
area first.
Scatter HOST on the spot.

Concentrate the brushing over the spot.
Brush in a circle over the spot.
Brush an area slightly larger than the area
with the spot.

After brushing, vacuum up the HOST with
the Liberator.

For tough spots and spills, PREP Traffic Lane Booster may be necessary.
Lightly mist diluted PREP
on the spot.
Apply HOST to the area.
Brush again.
Vacuum up the HOST.

Removing Spots with the HOST spot APPER®
Spots can also be removed using the HOST spotZAPPER:
1. Apply HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner.
3. The more brushing, the better.
2. Brush in many directions.
4. After brushing, let dry and
then vacuum.

Upkeep & Clean-up of the Liberator
Cleaning the Filters & Vacuum Cone
Turn Liberator off. Unlatch filter
housing and swing to the side.
Use a tank vacuum to vacuum both sides of the
black and burnt orange primary filters.
Remove the separator assembly
and wipe the inside with a cloth.
Replace the separator assembly
and push down firmly for a tight
seal.
Flip the filter housing over and vacuum both sides
of the 3-piece filters and replace. Refer to separate
Safety & Maintenance Instructions for HEPA filter
care.
Replace the burnt orange filter,
then the black filter. Close the filter
housing and close the latches.

Cleaning the Motor Vents & Filter
Vacuum motor vents with the Liberator
hose after each use.
Remove the Velcro®skirt and screws
from side and back cover plates.

Remove foam motor filter and
vacuum.

Checking the Hose for Clogs
Unplug the vacuum hose and check for any buildup of HOST or dirt.
If buildup exists, plug straight end of the vacuum hose into the vacuum connection.
With the vacuum motor on, loosen buildup from hose elbow.

4Cleaning & Rotating Brushes
Clean and rotate brushes each time you clean out the Liberator. The brush bristles
acquire a “set” in the direction they revolve unless switched regularly.
Unplug ma hine from power.
Remove the Velcro skirt.
Turn lock on brush cover plate
1/4 turn counter-clockwise until
it pops out. Pull up on ring to
remove brush cover plate.
Remove brushes and clean out
underside of machine.
Replace brushes on opposite hex brush shafts.
Liberator brushes can also be switched end-to-
end if desired.
Replace brush side plate. Press brush guard
against brushes while replacing side plate.
If brush plate does not engage, rotate hex shaft
slightly until brush side plate slips in place.
Lock the lock on side plate and replace Velcro skirt.
