A/ INSTALLATION AND GENERAL INFORMATION

1/ Installation

Locate the controller near a 230 V, 50 Hz power source. The

controller must be connected to an electrical installation that

conforms to standards and is protected by a fuse in the

electrical panel. Select a sheltered location where the controller

will not be spattered by water.

Remove the "knock out" disk(s) in the bottom of the

controller cabinet.

• Two-color indicator status light provides

the following in-formation :

• No light :No 230V input. Any power

outage is indicated by a blinking icon in

the form of a plug which appears in

the lower left corner of the LCD display

• Steady green light : Controller is operating

normally

• Blinking green light : Controller is

operating normally,but a sensor has

prevented watering.This occurs when an

RSD-BEx Rain Sensor or a Rain Check

automatic rain shutoff device is used.

• Steady red light : Overload or system

shutdown mode

• Built-in standby watering schedule :

each station operates once a day for 10

minutes beginning 8 hours after power

resumes in case a program is lost due to

extended power failure.

The default schedule assigns all stations to program A. An icon appears on the LCD

and remains displayed until a key is pressed. The controller must be reprogrammed.

• Diagnostic automatic circuit breaker : the SI-RR+ controller has an electrical overload/

short circuit protection system which only shuts down the station with the electrical

problem.Example :station 3 has a problem.The number “3 ” will appear on the LCD along

with this blinking icon . The controller will continue to water with all other operable

stations and bypass the problem one.The icon will disappear if you press the key .

Locate and fix the problem and the controller will return to normal operation of that

station at the next cycle.

• Sensor status indicator : there is a 2-color lamp (LED)on the front panel of the control-

ler. If your system includes a sensor device such as an RSD-BEx Rain Sensor or a RAIN

CHECK automatic rain shutoff, the LED indicates whether or not unnecessary irrigation

has been prevented. Steady green light : the program is operating normally. Blinking

greeen light : the program is operating normally but the sensor has prevented irrigation.

Note : if you do not use a sensor, make sure that the two terminals marked “S ” are

cross-connected (jumpered).

3/ Adding an extension module

2-Unscrew the panel mounting

screws. Remove panel

3 - Insert the 4-station extension module.

Connect it to the front panel by slightly

inclining the module and then use the

screw provided to secure it.

4-Replace the front panel

and screw it into place

5-Reconnect the 230VAC

power supply wires

Note : the controller takes into account the presence of a new module as soon as the

230VAC power supply is reconnected.

4/ Wiring to the electric valves

Multi-valve station capacity :up to 2 RAIN BIRD valves per station plus a master valve or

pump start relay. Make sure all wire from the controller to the valves is code-approved

for underground low voltage use.

Select the suitable wire size.All connections to the valve leads and any wire splices in the

field must be water-tight.Use Rain Bird Quick Connect connectors : DBY,DBR.

Pump Start or Master Valve

The terminal marked "P"is used to automatically start a pump with a relay or to open a

master valve.The "P"terminal provides power only when one of the stations is operating.

Recommended relays :

FINDER 55 32 80 24, TELEMECANIQUE RXN 21 E11 B7 or HAGER

ES-224

or equivalent.

CAUTION

If all the stations are not used and a pump start relay has been connected, the unused

stations must be jumpered (cross-connected) to a station being used. If unused

stations are not jumpered and the controller reverts to the default program after a

lengthy power outage, the pump will operate with no flow (deadhead). Serious pump

damage will accur.

5/ Modem connection (option for operation in the satellite mode with Tele

Manager, see §C)

the transformer wires.

3 - Install and secure the modem using the 2 screws

supplied. Connect the wire bundle between the mother

board and the modem as shown in diagram 3.

11/ Glossary

• CONTROLLER

Device used to automatically open and close electric irrigation valves

• STATION

A numbered terminal on the controller terminal strip. 1 or 2 electric valves are wired to the

terminal. If 2 valves are connected to the same terminal, they will operate simultaneously

• ELECTRIC VALVE

A device which opens or closes the water passage to the sprinklers based on what has been

programmed

• PROGRAM

A weekly watering plan including watering days and watering start times

• WATERING DAYS

The days of the week on which you choose to water

• CYCLE

A group of stations operating sequentially (one after the other)

• START TIME

The time of day when you want an irrigation cycle to start. If you enter several start times,

the cycle will start several times

• TRIPLE PROGRAM (A/B/C)

Used to manage 3 different irrigation frequencies. Example : Program A for lawns watering every

Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 22:00. Program B for flowers watering every day at 9:00.

Program C for low volume irrigation every day. Each station is assigned to either program A,

or program B or program C.

• DELAY BETWEEN STATIONS : dL

You can program a delay from 0 to 99 seconds between the stations assigned to the salme

program.

B) CONVENTIONNAL

PROGRAMMING : Standalone mode

• A circular menu. Repeatedly pressing the key

will return you to the initial display. It is adviseable to

run through the 8 displays in order to familiarize

yourself with the screen sequence.

• During the programming, the data you enter is auto-

matically stored when you move from one screen

display to the next by pressing . Icons help you

program and indicate which part of the sequence is

being programmed.To call up a specific function,

repeatedly press until the desired function icon

appears in the display.

1/ Set Clock

A- Set the current time of day

Repeatedly press the key until this display appears.

Now use the +/ON and -/OFF keys.

The time of day will appear in hours and minutes. The +/ON

key increases the setting. Holding down the key will cause the

numbers to increase more rapidly.The -/OFF key decreases

the setting.

Note : 2 blinking dots separate the hours from the minutes.

B- Set current day

Press the key to move the square through the days of the

week numbered 1 to 7 : Monday = 1, Tuesday = 2,..... Place the square on the current day of the week .

Example : if "today" is Wednesday, place the square on "3".

2/ Set days of the week to water

Icon : calendar

Repeatedly press the key until this display appears.

First select the A, B or C program by pressing the ABC key.

“Prog A” or “Prog B” will appear in the upper left corner of the

display. Use the key to move the square through the days

of the week (1 = Monday). Note that the numbers blink.

The controller is factory pre-set to water every day.

The +/ON and -/OFF keys are used to set the water days. Press

the -/OFF key if you do not wish to water that day.

The square will disappear. If you change your mind, press the

+/ON key and the square returns.

Example : you want to water every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. You must therefore cancel the

days you do not wish to water. Use the key to move the square to day 3. Now press the -/OFF key.

The square around the number 3 = Wednesday will disappear. Repeat the procedure for Friday,

Saturday and Sunday (numbers 5, 6 and 7). In this example, only numbers 1, 2 and 4 should appear

within a square.
