2 Network Controllers Manual
The system data base is stored in non-volatile Electrically Erasable
Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM). Information is entered
and/or modified with an IBM compatible personal computer.
The CM1 is comprised of a control module motherboard, a display panel,
and the following plug in cards:
A. The CPU card which contains the controller microprocessor, system
firmware, RAM and EEPROM memory.
B. The communications card. Options include class A (style 7) or B
(style 4) RS-485 or serial loop system data lines. Serial data lines
are available in 20 mA loop or fiber optic format. An RS-232
printer/program port is also provided on each communications card.
C. Option Cards. A selection of system input and output cards are
available in a number of configurations.
The CM1 circuitry is housed in a protective cover, which contains the
basic system operating instructions.
Application
The CM1 is designed to provide the master control function for a system
of up to 576 points. Each system must have a CM1 which provides 32
panel addresses. A variety of system communication formats are
available.
A variety of option modules are available to customize the function of
each CM1. Available modules include:
• System Communications Cards
• Intelligent Analog Sensor and control cards
• Supervised Input Cards
• Supervised Audio, Control, and Signal Circuits
Additional space for option cards may be added to the system by adding
CM2 series.
Note: There is no survivability if communications is lost to the CM2.
