UNI-SHUNT®with Reservoir
Anchoring Clips
Description
This package contains two anchoring clips.
Indications
These anchoring clips are designed for use
with the UNI-SHUNT®with Reservoir Catheter.
They are used to secure the ventricular and
distal ends of the Catheter.
Use of the anchoring clips on the cranium and
on the peritoneum is strongly recommended
to maintain the position of the catheter.
Contraindications
This device is not designed, sold, or intended
for use except as indicated.
WARNING
Do not use wire to suture over the
catheter. Wire can cause damage to the
silicone catheter.
PRECAUTION
Inspect the sterile package carefully. Do not
use if:
• the package or seal appears damaged,
• contents appear damaged, or
• the expiry date has passed.
Aseptic technique is necessary in all phases
of the use of this product.

Sterility
This product is for SINGLE USE ONLY; DO
NOT RESTERILIZE. Use aseptic technique in
all phases of handling. Integra LifeSciences
will not be responsible for any product that
is resterilized, nor will we accept for credit or
exchange any product that has been opened
but not used.
As long as the individual package of this
product is not opened or damaged, the product
is sterile.
Positioning Ventricular End with
Anchoring Clip
1. After achieving proper placement of
catheter in the ventricle, gently stretch
catheter and ease it into the clip.
2. With the catheter in position (Figure 1),
sutures can be placed over the clip to further
secure placement.
WARNING: Do not use wire to suture over
the catheter. Wire can cause damage to the
silicone catheter.
Alternate Method of Securing Clip
The anchoring clip can be placed on the
ventricular end of the catheter prior to
placement of the catheter in the ventricle.
1. Position the catheter on the introducer
and align it by securing the catheter to the
sliding clip.
2. Then position the anchoring clip on the
catheter, immediately distal to the sliding clip,
as shown in Figure 2.
3. Complete the shunt insertion.
NOTE: Adjustment of the catheter length in
the ventricle may require repositioning of the
clip along the catheter line.
Sutures can be placed over the anchoring
clip with the catheter in position to further
secure placement.

WARNING: Do not use wire to suture over the
catheter; it can cause damage to the catheter.
Placement of the Anchoring Clip at
Distal End
A plastic anchoring clip is sutured to the
abdominal musculature, locking the peritoneal
end of the UNI-SHUNT with Reservoir into
place, as shown in Figure 3. With the catheter
in position, sutures can be placed over the
anchoring clip to secure further placement.
WARNING: Do not use wire to suture over the
catheter. It can cause damage to the catheter.

Reservoir Kit for further information regarding
recommended implantation technique and
other aspects of the system.

Attaches d’ancrage de
l’UNI-SHUNT®avec reservoir
Description
Cet emballage contient deux attaches
d’ancrage.
Indications
Ces attaches d’ancrage sont conçues pour
être utilisées avec l’UNI-SHUNT®avec
cathéter à réservoir. Elles permettent de bien
mettre en place les extrémités ventriculaires et
distales du cathéter.
L’utilisation des attaches d’ancrage sur
le crâne et sur le péritoine est fortement
recommandée pour maintenir le cathéter
en position.
Contre-indications
Cet appareil est conçu pour être vendu et
utilisé uniquement comme indiqué.
AVERTISSEMENT
Ne pas utiliser du fil d’acier pour suturer le
cathéter. Le fil d’acier peut endommager le
cathéter en silicone.
PRÉCAUTION
Inspecter avec soin l’emballage stérile. Ne pas
utiliser si :
• l’emballage ou le système de fermeture
semble endommagé,
• son contenu semble endommagé
• la date de péremption est dépassée.
Une technique aseptique est nécessaire
pendant toutes les phases d’utilisation de
ce produit.

Stérilité
Ce produit est À USAGE UNIQUE
SEULEMENT—NE PAS LE RESTÉRILISER.
Utiliser une technique aseptique pendant
toutes les phases de manipulation. Integra
LifeSciences décline toute responsabilité en
cas de restérilisation du produit. Aucun avoir
ou échange ne sera effectué si le produit a été
ouvert mais non utilisé.
Le produit reste stérile tant que son emballage
individuel n’a pas été ouvert ou endommagé.
Mise en place de l’extrémité
ventriculaire à l’aide de l’attache
d’ancrage
1. Après avoir mené à bien la mise en
place du cathéter dans le ventricule,
étirer doucement le cathéter et le placer
dans l’attache.
2. Le cathéter étant en position (Figure 1),
disposer les sutures au-dessus de l’attache
pour en garantir l’immobilisation.
AVERTISSEMENT : ne pas utiliser du fil
d’acier pour suturer le cathéter. Le fil d’acier
peut endommager le cathéter en silicone.
Autre méthode de mise en place
de l’attache
L’attache d’ancrage peut être placée sur
l’extrémité distale du cathéter avant de
positionner le cathéter dans le ventricule.
1. Mettre en place le cathéter sur
l’introducteur et l’aligner en fixant le cathéter
à l’attache glissante.
2. Positionner ensuite l’attache d’ancrage sur
le cathéter, en position immédiatement distale
par rapport à l’attache glissante, comme
indiqué dans la Figure 2.
3. Terminer l’introduction de la dérivation.
NOTE : le réglage de la longueur du
cathéter dans le ventricule peut nécessiter le
repositionnement de l’attache le long de la
tubulure du cathéter.

Disposer les sutures au-dessus de l’attache
d’ancrage, le cathéter étant en position, pour
en garantir l’immobilisation.

Mise en place de l’attache d’ancrage
à l’extrémité distale
Suturer une attache d’ancrage plastique au
muscle abdominal et fixer ainsi l’extrémité
péritonéale de l’UNI-SHUNT avec réservoir,
comme indiqué dans la Figure 3. Le cathéter
étant en position, disposer les sutures
au-dessus de l’attache d’ancrage pour
en garantir l’immobilisation.
AVERTISSEMENT : ne pas utiliser du fil
d’acier pour suturer le cathéter. Le fil d’acier
peut endommager le cathéter en silicone.

Beschreibung
Diese Packung enthält zwei Befestigungsclips.
Indikationen
Diese Befestigungsclips sind für die
Verwendung mit dem UNI-SHUNT®mit
Reservoir-Katheter bestimmt. Sie werden
verwendet, um die ventrikulären und distalen
Enden des Katheters zu befestigen.
Die Verwendung der Befestigungsclips am
Cranium und am Peritoneum wird dringend
empfohlen, um die Position des Katheters
zu erhalten.
Kontraindikationen
Dieses Produkt ist nur für den angegebenen
Zweck entworfen und zum Verkauf bestimmt.
WARNHINWEIS
Keine Drahtnähte über dem Katheter
verwenden. Draht kann den Silikonkatheter
beschädigen.

Die sterile Verpackung sorgfältig untersuchen.
Das Produkt nicht verwenden, wenn:

Positionierung des ventrikulären Endes
mit Befestigungsclip
1. Nachdem eine korrekte Position des
Katheters im Ventrikel erreicht wurde, den
Katheter vorsichtig auseinanderziehen und ihn
in den Clip einlegen.
2. Mit dem Katheter in der richtigen Position
(Abbildung 1) können Nähte über den Clip
gelegt werden, um die Position weiter
zu sichern.
WARNHINWEIS: Keine Drahtnähte über
dem Katheter verwenden. Draht kann den
Silikonkatheter beschädigen.
Alternative Methode zur Sicherung
des Clips
Der Befestigungsclip kann vor der
Positionierung des Katheters im Ventrikel
am ventrikulären Ende des Katheters
angebracht werden.
1. Den Katheter auf dem Einführer
positionieren und ihn ausrichten, indem der
Katheter an der Gleitklemme befestigt wird.
2. Danach den Befestigungsclip am Katheter
anbringen, unmittelbar distal zur Gleitklemme,
wie in Abbildung 2 dargestellt.
3. Die Einführung des Shunts beenden.
