Safety
• Thetile saw must not be modified or used for any other purpose than that for
which it has been designed. Regularly check that all screws and nuts are securely
tightened.
• Make sure that themotor’s rated voltage is thesame as that of thewall socket.
• Damaged power leads and switches must always be replaced by atradesman.
Neveroperate thetile saw if you cannot stop or start it comfortably.
• This tile saw is only intended for cutting brick, stone, ceramic floor and wall tiles,etc.
General safety instructions – portable electric power tools
Note: Whenusing this tool all basic safety precautions must be followed to avoid
therisk of fire, electrocution and personal injury. Readthese instructions carefully
before using thetile saw and keep them for future reference.
• Keep theworking areatidy. Cluttered surfaces and benches invite accidents.
• Take stock of your working environment. Donot expose thetool torain. Donot
use thetool in moist or wetareas. Keeptheworking area welllit. Neveroperate
thetool near flammable liquid orgas.
• Reduce therisk of electric shocks. Avoidbody contact with earthed objects such
as pipes, radiators, ovens or refrigerators.
• Keep other people at asafe distance. Donot allow anyone, especially children,
not involved in thework process to touch thetool or its electriccable. Keepall
bystanders at adistance.
• Store thetool in asafeplace. Whenthetile saw is not in use, keep it in alocked,
dry area, away from children.
• Do not force thetool. Thetool will work better and safer at thefeed rate for which
it was intended.
• Use thecorrect tool for thejob. Donot try to use small tools to perform jobs
requiring more powerfultools. Donot use atool for apurpose for which it was not
designed,e.g. using acircular saw for lopping branches offtrees.

• Wear suitable attire. Donot wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery; they could
be caught in movingparts. Non-slip shoes are recommended for outdoorwork.
Wearahairnet or similar if you have longhair.
• Always use safetywear. Wearsafety glasses. Useadust mask or dust filter when
working in dusty environments.
• Use dust extractors. Ifthetool is equipped with or connected to adust extractor/
collector, make sure that it is turned on and used correctly.
• Do not abuse thelead. Donot jerk thelead, grip theplug itself when disconnecting
thepower. Makesure that themains lead does not come into contact with heat,
oil, or sharpedges.
• Firmly secure theworkpiece. Ifpossible use vices or clamps to hold theworkpiece
inplace. Thisis much safer than holding theworkpiece in onehand.
• Do not overreach. Makesure that you stand steady and balanced alltimes.
• Look after youtools. Makesure that they are clean and that theedges are sharp
for maximum effect and best results. Follow themanuals recommendations
regarding lubrication and replacement of accessories. Inspect themains lead
regularly. Ifit is damaged it should be replaced by aqualified service technician.
Inspect all leads and cables regularly to check for any damage. Makesure that
thetile saw’s handles and controls are clean, dry and free from oil and grease.
• Turn thepoweroff. Pullout theplug and push in theemergency stop button before
servicing or changing any blades, drill bits, cutters or sandingdiscs.
• Remove all spanners and repairtools. Makeahabit of checking to make sure that
thetile saw is free of all spanners and tools before turning thepoweron.
• Avoid accidental starts. Donot walk around with your finger on thetrigger of
apower tool if it is pluggedin. Makesure that theon/off switch is set to OFF
before plugging in any powertool.
• Use thecorrect extensionleads. Ifyou use extension leads outdoors, only use
those designed for outdooruse. Onlyuse extension leads with thick enough
diameter core wires and roll out thewholelead.
• Use common sense and be careful. Thinkbefore carrying out any task, so that it
is carried out safely. Neveroperate machines/power tools when you are tired or
under theinfluence of medicine.
• Check thefollowing before turning thetoolon:
- That all guards and other parts are whole and in workingorder.
- That moving parts are free and correctly aligned.
- That no moving parts can get caught.
- That there are no visible defects.
- Other factors that can influence work execution.

• Use only recommended accessories. Theuse of accessories which are not
recommended by themanufacturer may present arisk of personal injury.
• Check that thetool conforms to current safety regulations. Repairs to thetool
should only be carried out by atradesman using original spares; otherwise thetool
could cause accidents and personal injury.
Specic Safety Rules
Before starting the tile saw
• Place thetile saw on afirm, level surface.
• Make sure that thepower switch is set on 0before connecting thetile saw to
awall socket. Onlyconnect thetile saw to anearthed wall socket.
• Make sure that theblade is well-centred and undamaged before startingwork.
• Only use tile cutting blades/discs with anoutside diameter of 150–180 mm and
abore of 22.2 mm and which are approved for use at themaximum speed of
thetile saw,i.e. 3000rpm.
• Do not overtighten thespindlenut.
• Protect thecutting blade from moisture andblows.
• Make sure that thecutting blade can rotate freely before starting thetilesaw.
• Never use abuckled or crackedblade.
• Never stop theblade by pressing on it from theside.
• Make sure that thecutting blade is not in contact with theworkpiece or any other
object when thetile saw is switchedon.
• Always wear safety gloves. Neverremove waste material from within theworkarea
whilst thecutting blade is rotating.
• Never use thetile saw of thesafety devices/guards are not fitted or do notwork.
• Always pull theplug out of thewall socket before servicing and adjusting thetilesaw.
Whilst operating the tile saw
• Make sure that thewater tray is always full whilst working.
• Never use thetile saw without theblade guard inplace.
• Never stand in line with thecutting blade when turning thetile sawon.
• Pull out theplug if thetile saw is left unattended.
• Adopt asteady stance and hold theworkpiece firmly in bothhands.
• Do not exert lateral pressure onto theblade.
• Be aware of thepower cable when using thetilesaw. Donot let it come into
contact with any movingparts.
• Use apush stick to feed small workpieces against theblade. Donot saw tiles that
cannot be handled safely.

Switch the tile saw off immediately if…
• Thetile saw starts to behave strangely,e.g. emits smoke, sparks, strange noises
or starts vibrating.
• Thetile saw’s power switch or electric cable is damaged.

Thetile saw’s fixed and adjustable safety guards must all be in place

Assembly
Screw on theblade guard (4) if it is not already inplace.
Use
Sawing tiles
1. Place thetile saw on asmooth and level surface.
2. Fill thewater tray with clean water up to the “max level”mark. Thecorrect water
level is stated on theblade guard and on theinside of thewatertray.
3. Tilt thework table to thedesired angle by loosening theadjusting screws (8).
Tighten thescrewswhen
thetilt angle has beenset.
4. Set theblade guard (4) so that atile just fits between theguard and thetable.
5. Think about how thetask is to be performed. Settheparallel guide fence (2), it can
be mounted on either side of theblade. Setthefence to thesame scale mark on
both ends of thetable to ensure that it is parallel.
6. Adapt theparallel guide fence’s handle (1) by turning it clockwise/anticlockwise
until you have thecorrect resistance and then tighten it so that it stays inplace.
Measure, using aruler or tape, thedistance between theblade and theguide
fence to make sure that thecutting length will be correct.
7. Plug themains lead into a230 V wall outlet and turn thetile saw on by switching
theon/off switch (7) to I. Lettheblade come up to full speed before beginning
tocut.
8. Feed thetile into theblade with asmooth and continuous motion. Usetheparallel
fence as aguide.
9. Turn themotor off by switching theon/off switch to 0. Donot remove thepieces of
cut tile until theblade has completely stopped rotating.
Sawing at an angle of 45°
1. Place thetile saw on asmooth and level surface.
2. Fill thewater tray with clean water up to the “max level”mark. Thecorrect water
level is stated on theblade guard and on theinside of thewatertray.
3. Adjust thelevel/tilt of thework table to thedesired angle using theadjusting
screws (8). Tighten thescrews when thetilt angle has beenset.
4. Set theblade guard (4) so that atile just fits between theguard and thetable.
5. Think about how thetask is to be performed. Settheparallel guide fence (2), it can
be mounted on either side of theblade. Setthefence to thesame scale mark on
bothsides.

8. Insert thecorner of thetile into thecorner of the45º mitre guide (3) (seefig.).
9. Slide themitre guide along theparallel guide fence towards thecutting blade in
asmooth motion.
10. Make sure that themitre guide does not come into contact with thecuttingblade.
11. Turn themotor off by switching theon/off switch to 0when you have finished
sawing. Donot remove thepieces of cut tile until theblade has completely
stopped rotating.

Changing the blade
1. Turn off thetile saw and pull out theplug from thewall socket.
2. Remove thewatertray.
3. Remove theblade
guardusing
acrosshead
screwdriver.
4. Unscrew theblade
lock nut from
thespindle and
remove theouter
flange washer using
thetwo provided
spanners. Theinner
flange washer should
be left on thespindle.
5. Slide thenew blade onto thespindle, observing thedirection of rotation arrow,
and then replace theflange washer and locknut.
6. Tighten thenut properly, but do not overtightenit.

Care and maintenance
• Turn thetile saw off and unplugit.
• Wipe thetile saw after use with adamp cloth and keep theventilation
openingsclear.
• Empty and rinse out thewater tray afteruse.
