Safety
Warning!
When using this tool all basic safety precautions must be followed to avoid therisk of
fire, electrocution and personal injury. Read these instructions carefully before using
theproduct and keep them for future reference.
• Keep theworking area tidy. Cluttered surfaces and benches invite accidents.
• Take stock of your working environment. Do not expose thetool to rain.
• Do not use thetool in moist or wet areas. Keep theworking area well lit. Never
operate thetool near flammable liquid or gas.
• Avoid electric shocks. Avoid body contact with earthed objects, such as pipes,
radiators, ovens or refrigerators.
• Keep other people at asafe distance. Do not allow anyone not involved in thework
process to touch thetool or its electric cable, especially children. Keep all bystanders
at adistance.
• Store thetool in asafe place. When your tools are not in use, keep them in
alocked, dry area, away from children.
• Do not overload thetool. Thecorrect feed rate makes thework better and safer.
• Use thecorrect tool for thejob. Do not try to use small tools to perform jobs
requiring more powerful tools. Do not use atool for apurpose for which it was not
designed, e.g. using acircular saw for lopping branches off trees.
• Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery; they could
be caught in moving parts. Non-slip shoes are recommended for outdoor work.
• Wear ahairnet or similar if you have long hair.
• Always use safetywear. Wear safety glasses. Use adust mask or dust filter when
working in dusty environments.
• Use dust extractors. If thetool is equipped with or connected to adust extractor/
collector, make sure that it is turned on and used correctly.
• Do not abuse thelead. Do not jerk thelead, grip theplug itself when
disconnecting thepower. Make sure that themains lead does not come into
contact with heat, oil, or sharp edges.

• Firmly secure theworkpiece. If possible use vices or clamps to hold
theworkpiece in place. This is much safer than holding theworkpiece in one hand.
• Do not overreach. Make sure that you stand steady and balanced all times.
• Look after your tools. Make sure that they are clean and that theedges are
sharp for maximum effect and best results. Follow themanual’s recommendations
regarding lubrication and replacement of accessories.
• Inspect themains lead regularly. If it is damaged it should be replaced by
aqualified service technician. Inspect all leads and cables regularly to check for
any damage. Make sure that themachine’s handles and controls are clean, dry
and free from oil and grease.
• Turn thepower off. Pull out theplug and push in theemergency stop button
before servicing or changing any blades, drill bits, cutters or sanding discs.
• Remove all spanners and repair tools. Make ahabit of checking to make sure
that themachine is free of all spanners and tools before turning thepower on.
• Avoid accidental starts. Do not walk around with your finger on thetrigger of
apower tool if it is plugged in. Make sure that theon/off switch is set to OFF
before plugging in any power tool.
• Use thecorrect extension leads. If you use extension leads outdoors, only
use those designed for outdoor use. Only use extension leads with thick enough
diameter core wires and roll out thewhole lead.
• Use common sense and be careful. Think before carrying out any task, so that
it is carried out safely. Never operate machines/power tools when you are tired or
under theinfluence of medicine.
• Check thefollowing before turning thetool on:
- That all guards and other parts are whole and in working order.
- That moving parts are free and correctly aligned.
- That no moving parts can get caught.
- That there are no visible defects.
- Other factors that can influence work execution.
• Use only recommended accessories. Theuse of non-recommended
accessories can cause accidents and personal injury.
• Should only be repaired by aqualified technician. This tool conforms to current
safety requirements. Repairs to thetool should only be carried out by atradesman
using original spares; otherwise thetool could cause accidents and personal injury.

Additional safety rules for compound mitre saws
• Never use cracked or damaged saw blades.
• Replace thekerf plate when it is worn.
• Use only saw blades recommended by themanufacturer.
• Never use blades made of high speed steel (HSS).
• Select thecorrect blade for thematerial to be cut.
• Never saw material other than that for which thesaw blade is intended.
• Observe themaximum speed marked on thesaw blade.
• When moving themitre saw, hold it by thehandle.
• Do not operate themachine without theguard in position, or if theguard does not
function or is not maintained properly.
• Keep thesurrounding work area free of loose chips and offcuts.
• Use only those spacers and spindle adaptors approved for your saw.
• If thesaw is fitted with alaser, it must not be replaced by adifferent type. If damaged,
have thelaser repaired by themanufacturer or anauthorised repair agent.
• Do not remove any offcuts or jammed material from around theblade area until
theblade has stopped.
• Before sawing, make sure that thesaw is stable and secure. When possible,
always mount themachine to abench.
• When sawing, always secure theworkpiece using clamps or avice if possible.
• Use atable, roller stand, or similar to support long workpieces.
In spite of theapplication of therelevant safety rules and theimplementation of
safety devices, certain residual risks cannot be avoided. Thefollowing hazards
are inherent to theuse of mitre saws:
• Contact with uncovered parts of therotating saw blade.
• Contact with rotating saw blade (cuts).
• Workpiece or parts of it can be ejected back towards theuser (kickback).
• Shattered saw blade.
• Flying metal particles if thecarbide tips break off.
• Impairment of hearing if ear defenders are not worn.
• Health hazards caused by breathing dust in poorly ventilated work areas.

Before operating the machine
• Thesaw must be securely fastened to aworkbench or stand.
• All guards and safety devices must be properly fitted.
• Thesaw blade must be able to turn freely in all work settings.
• Make sure that there are no foreign objects (nails, screws) in theworkpiece to be sawn.
• Make sure that thesaw blade is correctly fitted and that all moving parts run smoothly.
Fitting the included dust bag
Squeeze thespring clamp on thebag and slide thebag onto thedust extraction port
(theport may also be used for connecting adust extractor).
Fitting the side supports
Slide therods of theside supports into
theholes (19) and lock them in place
using thelocking screws (2).
Installing the mitre angle lever
1. Swing out the lever so that
it lines up with the slotted
turntableinsert.
2. Fasten the lever using the 2 provided
set screws.

When sawing narrow pieces of wood,
theslide function is not required and thesaw
head can be locked in therear position by
tightening theslide rail locking knob (29). For
sawing wide workpieces, first make sure that
theslide rail lock is released so that thesaw
head can move before you begin sawing.
1. Raise thesaw head (7) to its upper
position by first pressing thesaw head
down and then releasing thesaw head
lock (23). Note: Keep hold of thesaw
head when releasing thelock, otherwise it
will spring up automatically.
2. Move thesaw head backwards and
fix it in this position with a slide lock if
necessary (depending on thewidth of
theworkpiece).
3. Place theworkpiece on theturntable
(14) and hold it against thefence (12).
4. Secure theworkpiece using theclamp
(24) to prevent it from moving during
thecutting process.
5. Switch thelaser line on if necessary,
using theswitch (27).
6. Press in thepower trigger (28) to start
themotor, press in theblade guard
release lever (22) and carefully lower
thesaw head and let theblade cut
through theworkpiece.
7. To switch thesaw off, release thepower trigger whilst still maintaining full control
over thesaw head. When theblade has stopped, thesaw head can be moved
back to its upper position.
Warning: Theresetting springs in themachine automatically raise thesaw head after
cutting. Do not simply let go of thesaw head after cutting, hold onto thehandle and
let it come up slowly.

Cross-cutting with the saw blade angled 0°

Mitre cutting -45°/0°/+45°
1. Raise thesaw head (7) to its upper position by
releasing thelock (23).
2. Undo themitre angle lock (11) and set
thesaw to thedesired mitre angle using
thescale (18).
3. Tighten themitre angle lock and perform
cutting operations as described above.
Bevel cutting 0–45°
1. Undo thelocking knob (31) and tilt theblade
to thedesired angle with thehelp of thebevel
angle scale (3).
2. Tighten thelocking knob to lock thebevel angle.
Adjust the fence (see below fig.).
3. Cut as described above.

Important:
When sawing with theblade tilted at anangle, thefence must be moved out of theway
to prevent it from obstructing theblade.
Fine-adjusting the 0° and 45° bevel angle stops
1. Undo thelocking knob (31) and angle thesaw to 0°.
2. Check theangle between theblade and theturntable using a90° angle guide.
3. Adjust theend stop using theadjuster screw (30) by slackening thenut and turning
thescrew. Lock thescrew again afterwards by re-tightening thenut.
4. To adjust the45° end stop, do as above but use theother adjuster screw (32) and
a45° angle guide.
