OPTICAL SMOKE DETECTOR WITH
WIRELESS COMMUNICATION.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Congratulations on your purchase of our unique 10-year wireless
smoke detector.
This smoke detector is designed to detect and give warning of smoke
particles which arise during the incomplete combustion which takes
place at the start of a fire.
If more than one Capidi smoke detector is used, all paired devices will
emit an alarm in the event of a fire, providing they are correctly installed
and regularly maintained.
It is therefore important to read this manual carefully.
LOCATION OF SMOKE DETECTOR
•For maximum protection, a smoke detector should be installed in
every room (except the kitchen, bathroom and garage) (Fig. 1).
• For maximum protection, one smoke detector should be installed in
every bedroom and one near the kitchen. In multi-storey dwellings,
one detector should be installed on each floor, in the stairwell (Fig. 1).
• For minimal protection, one smoke detector should be installed on
each floor, in the hallway between the bedrooms and the other living
areas. Position it as close to the living areas as possible and check
that the alarm can be clearly heard from the bedrooms.
• Smoke detectors should not be installed in the kitchen/bathroom/
garage, as kitchen fumes/steam/exhaust fumes can trigger the
alarm.
• Smoke detectors should not be installed in the vicinity of
ventilation openings.

INSTALLATION
1. Start the smoke detector by moving the power switch to the On position
(Fig. 2). It is easiest to do this by turning the base plate of the smoke
detector. Then twist the smoke detector out of the base plate to
continue the installation.
2. Connect the smoke detectors wirelessly as follows:
• Press the grey button for 1 second (you will hear 1 beep) – pairing
mode is initiated, and the indicator light will flash red.
•Press the grey button on the other device for about 1 second (you
will hear 1 beep) and then release it. After about 2 seconds you will
hear 2 beeps from each of the devices, and at the same time the
indicator lamp will flash red twice to indicate that they are paired. If
pairing does not occur, pairing mode is cancelled after 15 seconds.
•If more than two smoke detectors are to be connected together,
repeat step 2 with one of the paired devices and an unpaired device.
3. Place the smoke detectors in suitable places.
4. Drill holes for the base plate screw holes and screw the base plate in
place using the screws supplied (Fig. 3).
5. Attach the smoke detector to the base plate by turning it clockwise.
6. Test the smoke detector by pressing the test button (in the middle
of the cover) for 3 seconds. If the button is pressed for a further 3
seconds, all paired devices will emit an alarm signal (Fig. 4).
The device being tested will emit the signal continuously for about 10
seconds, and the other paired devices will emit a pulsating signal for
about 18 seconds. The device emitting the signal may be silenced by
pressing the test button again. The other smoke detectors will continue
for 18 seconds until the end of the test period. If a paired device does
not emit an alarm signal, it is out of range or the battery is dead. First,
check that the battery is working. If the battery is working, move the smoke
detector closer to another device or install another one between them.
Note: Use only the test button for testing the smoke detector.
Testing with a naked flame or smoke can cause a fire.
UNPAIRING SMOKE DETECTORS
To unpair devices, press the grey button on the smoke detector you
wish to unpair. After 1 second you will hear a beep. Continue pressing
the button for about 10 seconds until you hear 3 beeps. The smoke
detector is now unpaired.

MAINTENANCE
We recommend that you test the smoke detector at least once per
month, and when you return after a lengthy absence such as a holiday.
Vacuum-clean above and around the smoke detector on a regular basis.
Important: The smoke detector must not be exposed to chemicals
or water. It must not be painted over or modified in any way.
OPERATING MODE
In operating mode, the smoke detector emits no signals and does
not flash.
ALARM MODE
When the smoke detector detects smoke, it activates a continuous
sound and the red indicator light flashes. All paired devices will also
then emit the alarm sound, but their indicator lights do not flash.
Resetting after a false alarm
All alarms should be taken seriously.
This means that evacuation should be the first action taken.
In the event of a suspected false alarm, find the smoke detector which
initiated the alarm. Do this by looking for the smoke detector with a
flashing red indicator light. Silence the alarm by pressing once on the
smoke detector to initiate hush mode. Then check the cause of the
false alarm, e.g. cooking fumes.
HUSH MODE
If you need to deactivate one of the smoke detectors temporarily,
press on it once for about 1 second. When you release the button you
will hear 1 beep. You can also hush temporarily in the event of a false
alarm. The smoke detector will then go into hush mode for 10 minutes.
After this, it will return to its normal operating mode. During hush
mode, if a fire starts near another paired smoke detector, the hushed
detector will also emit an alarm.

BATTERY WARNING
•When the battery warning is heard, the smoke detector should be
replaced. The battery lasts for the entire lifetime of the smoke detector
and cannot be replaced.
• When the battery begins to lose power a beep is heard about once
every 20 minutes, and the indicator light flashes about once every 4
seconds. When one device emits a battery warning, the other paired
devices beep once every 4 hours. In order to establish which device
is emitting the warning, check which one is flashing every 4 seconds.
