Projector Assembly/Installation Manual
Ceiling Attachment Arm RS-CL17 is an auxiliary xture to mount the projector from the ceiling.
Use in conjunction with RS-CL15 (sold separately). According to the ceiling height, use Extension pipe RS-
CL08 / RS-CL09 sold separately.
This product (RS-CL17) as well as RS-CL15 and RS-CL08 / RS-CL09 are all for ceiling-mount only. Do
not use them for any other purpose. Please refer to this Assembly/Installation Manual when you assemble
and install the ceiling attachment. For other precautions in using your projector, refer to the user's manual
provided with the projector.

Make sure the followings when you install and handle the ceiling attachment. Otherwise,
it may result in re, electric shock or injury.

• Make sure to prepare stable scaffolding when installing the ceiling attachment.
• Make sure to fully insert the power plug and connectors when connecting
the projector. Never use a damaged plug or loosen outlet.
Prohibition
• Make sure to tighten screws for the ceiling attachment securely and never
loosen or remove them.
• Never look into a lens when adjusting the projection because a high-intensity
light is projected from the projector. It may result in eye damage.
• During projection, never put an object in front of the projector's lens.
Caution
Make sure the followings when you install and handle the ceiling attachment.

• Make sure to ask a qualied technician or the Canon Customer Support Center
if you want to install the ceiling attachment. An inappropriate installation may
cause an accident.

● Before mounting the Ceiling Attachment, be sure to check the strength of the
ceiling. The ceiling should be strong enough to support the projector and Ceiling
Attachment (and optional extension pipe). If the ceiling is not strong enough, be
sure to reinforce it. The projector may fall and it may result in severe injury.
● Make sure to perform the installation operation by at least two persons. Please be
careful not to drop any object and pinch a nger during the installation operation.
● To prevent falling caused by earthquake or vibration, take anti-fall measures using
tension wires or the like for installation. The projector may fall and it may result in
severe injury.
● At least 50 cm (1.6') around the intake and 50 cm (1.6') around the vent should be
clear. Otherwise, it may damage the projector due to bad exhaust ventilation.
Mounting Position
Install the projector straight in front of the screen. You can adjust the screen position using the lens shift feature.

Preparation:
Separate the Joint tting from the
Ceiling-mount bracket temporarily
Remove four M5 screws (A) to separate
Joint tting from the Ceiling-mount bracket.
1Make a hole in the ceiling
● Make holes to install the Ceiling-mount bracket
using Template Sheet (T3).
● Make wiring holes.
● Download the template sheet (T3) from the URL
below, and print it in the actual size (100%).

● The direction to the screen and the light axis (lens center) is indicated on the template sheet
(T3).For regular installation (adjusting legs side facing down), use SIDE A of the template
facing toward the direction of the screen. For inverse installation (adjusting legs side facing
up), use SIDE B of the template facing toward the direction of the screen.

2Secure the Ceiling-mount bracket to
the ceiling
Use four M13 screws, to secure the Ceiling-
mount bracket to the ceiling with the arrow
facing toward the screen.
● Before securing the Ceiling-mount bracket, be
sure to remove the template sheet (T3).
● The M13 screws are not included in the supplied
parts. Prepare the M13 screws suitable for the
ceiling structure.
3Attach the Base bracket to the
projector
1 Remove M6 nuts from the arm units.
Then, remove M6 spring washers and
M6 washers.
Caution
● The remaining M6 washers (4 pcs)
will be used in Step 4-1 (2 pcs) and
Step 4-4 (2 pcs).
Attach arm plate A and M6 washers to
arm plate B. Insert them into the holes on
the four corners of the base bracket, and
temporarily tighten them with M6 spring
washers and M6 nuts (4 positions).

2 Remove the screws from the four corners
of the projector top (4 positions).
Caution
● Two out of the four screws removed
will be used in Step 4-5.
3 Place the arm plates on the projector
top so that the holes on each corner
overlap with each other. Insert M6 spring
washers, and temporarily tighten them
with M6 screws (enclosed with RS-
CL15).
4 Adjust the positions of projector and base bracket as shown in the diagrams below.
● Make the gaps A and A’ between the projector and base bracket parallel to each other, and with the
same widths.
● Make the protrusions of the four arms of the same lengths.
Caution
● If the position of the base bracket is not properly aligned against the projector and there is
a signicant difference between the gaps A and A', the adjusted position may move out of
alignment over time.
5 Firmly tighten the M6 nuts attached to the arm plate B.
6 Firmly tighten the M6 screws attached to the arm plate A.
4Attach the anti-fall wire
1 Fix each anti-fall wire (510 mm/20.1":
enclosed with RS-CL17) by xing an M4
screw (with M4 washer and M4 spring
washer: enclosed with RS-CL15) through
an M6 washer (enclosed with RS-CL17)
to each of the two screw holes on base
bracket (C).

2 Let the projector stand with the back side
facing down and bottom facing front.
Caution
● Handle the product with two or more
people.
3 Remove the adjusting legs (4 pcs) from
the projector bottom.
Caution
● Be sure to keep the removed
adjusting legs safely for later use.
4 Fix the anti-fall wire terminal clamps on
the two screw holes (A) as shown right by
xing the M6 screws through M6 washers
and M6 spring washers.
5 Fix the two screws removed in Step 3-2
on the two screw holes (B) as shown
right.
Caution
● Fix M6 screws starting from the
upper hole (A).
● Tighten the screws firmly so
that they are fixed without any
looseness.
● Insert the anti-fall wire through
the cutting on the arm plate A (2
positions).
6 Return the projector to its original position.

After completion of installation, adjust
the projection angle (page 13).
7Hook the Base bracket to the Joint tting and secure it temporarily
Hook the Base bracket on the protrusion (D) of the Joint tting, and secure it temporarily using
the four M5 screws (B) removed earlier.
● Pull out the cables.
● Firmly tighten the screws (B) after adjusting the projection angle as explained in page 13.
8Connect cables
Connect cables to the projector.

5Pull cables out of the cable hole in
the ceiling
● As depicted in the diagram, let cables pass
through the hole on ceiling-mount clamp.
● If cables are too thick, make a hole at a different
position than the hole on the ceiling-mount
clamp, and let them pass through the new hole.
6 Attach the Joint tting to the
Ceiling-mount bracket
Secure the Ceiling-mount bracket using
the four M5 screws (A) removed from the
Ceiling-mount bracket during preparation.
