is manual will help you optimize performance by explaining how you can adjust the binocular to your eyes, and

how to care for this instrument. Read the instructions carefully before using your binocular.

EYE ADJUSTMENTS

How to Adjust for Distance Between Your Eyes

e distance between the eyes, called “interpupillary distance,” varies from person to person. To achieve perfect

alignment of lens to eyes, follow these simple steps.

1. Hold your binocular in the normal

viewing position.

2. Grasp each barrel ﬁrmly. Move the

barrels closer together or further apart (Fig. 1)

until you see a single circular ﬁeld.

Always re-set your binocular to this

position before using it.

How to Adjust for Individual Eye Strength

As individual eyesight varies from one person to another, your Bushnell Elite e2binocular has a diopter setting feature

which allows you to ﬁne-tune the binocular to your vision. Follow the focusing instructions on the next page.

FOCUSING

1. Adjust the interpupillary distance (Fig. 1) until you see a single circular image.

2. e diopter adjustment ring is located directly below the center focus knob. To unlock the diopter adjustment,

pull the ring straight up (Fig. 2).

3. Make sure the diopter adjustment is set to “zero” (center tab of diopter ring is lined up with index mark). Keep

both eyes open at all times.

4. Using the attached lens cap or your hand, cover the objective (front) lens on the right side of the binocular as

you look into the eyepieces.

5. Using the center focus knob, focus on a distant object with ﬁne detail (e.g., brick wall, tree branches, etc) until

it appears as sharp as possible on the left side.

6. Uncover the objective lens on the right side, and cover the left objective lens while continuing to view the same

object.

7. Rotate the unlocked diopter adjustment ring to bring the object into focus in the right side of the binocular.

Avoid over-turning or forcing the diopter mechanism. If you are unable to bring the object into focus in the right

side by adjusting the diopter ring, make sure the left side is still focused and that the center focus knob was not

moved from its original setting. e diopter adjustment only aﬀects the right side.

8. Once the diopter ring is set for your eyesight, push the adjustment ring back down to lock it in place (Fig. 3).

9. Your binocular should now be adjusted for your eyes. Focusing for any distance can now be done simply by

turning the center focus knob. Make a note of the diopter setting you made (dot on the +/- scale of the diopter

ring lined up with the index mark) for future reference.

10. e Elite e2 also features a special focus lock feature. With the diopter adjustment ring fully down and locked,

push the focus knob down so the green band is not visible (Fig 4). is is useful when you will be observing a

subject at a consistent distance for an extended time period, to make sure you don’t accidently shift or bump the

focus setting unintentionally, or when you want to pass the binoculars around in a group that is viewing the same

subject.

EYECUP ADJUSTMENT: (Fig. 5 and 6)

Your Bushnell Elite e2binocular is ﬁtted with twist-up eyecups designed for your comfort and to exclude extraneous

light. For users without eyeglasses, twist the eyecups up, rotating the eyecups counter-clockwise until they lock into

the fully “up” position (ﬁg. 5). If you wear glasses, make sure the eyecups are in the down position- this will bring

your eyes closer to the binocular lens, allowing you to see the full ﬁeld of view. To lower the eyecups from the full

“up” position, rotate them clockwise while pushing down slightly (ﬁg. 6). e eyecups may also be left at positions

“in between” fully up and fully down, which may suit some individuals better.

NECKSTRAP ATTACHMENT : (Fig. 7 and 8)

To attach the short strap adapter, ﬁrst align the strap with the plastic post positioned as shown in Fig. 7. Push the

post straight down onto the release button (white arrow), then slide it up towards the eyepiece (black arrow) as shown

in Fig. 7, until it clicks into place. Make sure the release button pops back up. e long neckstrap may be looped

through the lugs on the short straps either before or after this procedure. To remove the strap, press the release button,

and slide the post back out of the socket (Fig. 8).

TRIPOD SOCKET : (Fig. 9)

To attach the Elite e2 to a tripod or monopod, unscrew (counter-clockwise) the “B” logo cap which covers the

threaded socket inside the center hinge, and set it aside in a safe place. Use a compatible binocular tripod adapter, such

as the Bushnell model #161001CM, (a accessory bracket, shown below, which goes between the binocular and tripod)

to attach your Elite e2 to any standard tripod in a horizontal position to provide a stable image during prolonged

viewing.

WATERPROOF / FOGPROOF

Your Bushnell Elite e2binocular has been designed and built utilizing the latest waterproof and fogproof technology.

Elite binoculars are O-ring sealed for complete moisture protection. Fogproof protection is achieved from dry nitrogen

purging that removes all internal moisture.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE

Your Bushnell Elite e2binocular will provide years of trouble-free service if it receives the normal care you would give

any ﬁne optical instrument.

1. Avoid sharp impacts. Set the binocular down gently on hard surfaces.

2. Tug on the strap after attaching it to make sure it is securely fastened to the binocular before placing it around

your neck.

3. Store your binocular in a cool, dry place whenever possible.

CLEANING

1. Blow away any dust or debris on the lens (or use a soft lens brush).

2. To remove dirt or ﬁnger prints, clean with a soft cotton cloth rubbing in a circular motion. Use of a coarse

cloth or unnecessary rubbing may scratch the lens surface and eventually cause permanent damage. e

included, washable“microﬁber”cleaning cloth is ideal for the routine cleaning of your optics. Simply breathe

lightly on the lens to provide a slight amount of moisture, then gently rub the lens with the microﬁber cloth.

3. For a more thorough cleaning, photographic lens tissue and photographic-type lens cleaning ﬂuid or isopropyl

alcohol may be used. Always apply the ﬂuid to the cleaning cloth – never directly on the lens.
