REAR PANEL CONNECTIONS
4
1. Remote Sources
For connecting to 8 Remote Sources
in Zone 1-8 using CAT5 or CAT6
cables. Each Remote Sources will
send Audio signals from Remote
Sources to X1616 input as remote
source. At the same time X1616 will
send IR signal received from each or
all Remote Source IR input to each
XS1 Remote Source IR output to
control each Remote Source through
IR emmilter.
2. Remote Sources IR Input, Zone 1-8
For connecting to 8 Zones’ IR control
signals for sending each control signal
to each individual zone through
Remote Source CAT5 cable.
3. Remote Sources IR Input, All
IR signal input to the “ALL” Remote
Sources IR input will be sent to all 8
Zone through Remote Source CAT5
cable.
4. CONTROL IN
IR signal input to the CONTROL IN
connector will control X1616 main unit.
5. CONTROL OUT
This are used for making interface with
other system.
6. Mute
This 3.5mm non-shorting Stereo
connector (Power, Mute, Gnd) is
designed to be used in conjunction
with the AMC PDM1 (Phone-Doorbell-
Mute Module) - This is an option
feature.
7. Status
This jack goes high with any zone ON
and goes low when the last zone is
turned OFF.
This is rather light current output and
may not trip some external trigger
inputs.
8. +12V DC
This connector will give +12V DC /
500mA power output once X1616
turned on for supplying power to
external adaptors like ADC etc.
9. RS232, Ethernet, AMC Card
This are used for making interface with
other system.
10.ID No. Switch
This is switch to set ID No. of each
X1616.
11.L & R Audio Input and Loop
Connectors
These RCA jacks, 4 for each Source,
provide audio signal inputs and
buffered loop outputs, for each
Source. The buffered outputs may be
used to drive local components or loop
the signals to the additional zone
inputs of other X1616's when using
them for zone expansion.
12.LOCAL / MIX / REMOTE SWITCH
This 3 position switch set source 1 to 8
to be connected to Local source or
Remote source or Mix the Local &
Remote sources together.
13.TRIM Input Sensitivity Adjustment
These TRIM’s are for adjusting each
source to the optimized sensitivities in
order to match each source output
level.
14.L & R PRE-OUT Connectors
These RCA jacks provide line level
audio outputs for driving external
power amplifiers for additional rooms
within zones where needed.
15.VAR/FIX Switch

1. Prewire
The X1616 uses Cat-5 cable for remote sources. All the wire is “homerun” from
each zone to the X1616.
2. The X1616 digital home systems require Cat-5, unshielded, twisted pair (UTP), for
communication between the remote sources and the main X1616 unit. Each end of
the wire is terminated with an RJ45 connector.
The X1616 system can accommodate 500 total feet of Cat-5 cable for each zone.
For the most reliable operation, it is best that no single run of Cat-5 exceeds 250
feet.
The correct wiring scheme for the Cat-5 cable is standard EIA/TIA 568A. Properly
terminating the Cat-5 cable is crucial for the operation of the system. It is very
important to use a good quality crimp tool, and testing each end to end run with Cat-
5 wire tester will insure that your system operate flawlessly, Fig. 1.
