1. Introduction
English
Thank you for choosing an A2B Electronics product. We have made every
effort to make you as a customer satisfied with the performance and
features of the product for years to come.
The ETA-100 and the EFTA1-T2 are high quality Professional Digital
Terrestrial Receivers intended for use in any Cable-TV or SMATV head
end. All functions are integrated in the extremely compact units that easily
can be mounted in different ways.
The EFTA1-T2 is a professional digital terrestrial receiver for Free To Air
(FTA) channels.
The ETA-100 incorporates embedded Conax and Common Interface, and
can easily be connected to the CATV modulators EVA-200 or EVA-210.
This manual describes the installation and settings of the units.

2. Unpacking the unit

ETA-100 and EFTA1-T2 are delivered with all necessary software to enable all the
installations. The files are on the included CD and a PC or PALM PDA can be used
as a control unit.
Following parts are included in the package:

Every unit is quality inspected by us before delivery and should any items be missing
when unpacking please contact our support service (see page 3 for address).

. Connections and indications
Power on Green light indicates that the unit is connected to power.
Error Red colour indicates that the incoming signal contains errors.
AV Indicates that audio and video is decoded. Red light indicates errors (EFTA1-T2).
Access Indicates that smartcard is authorised. Red light indicates errors (ETA-100).
Reset Reboots the hardware.
RS-232 port Serial port for connection of PALM PDA or PC (control software available
on attached CD).
Antenna in Input for terrestrial antenna (47 to 862 MHz).
Audio R out Connect this source to corresponding R audio input of RF modulator.
Audio L out Connect this source to corresponding L audio input of RF modulator.
Video out Connect this CVBS video source to video input of RF modulator.
DC in Connect a DC voltage to this input (6-9 V 1. A)

This section describes how to make a quick installation following the step by
step instructions below. See to that the control software files delivered on the
CD-ROM are loaded into the PALM. For more information on how this is
done, please consult your PALM user manual.
1. Connect the module (EFTA1-T2 or ETA-100) to a DC power supply (the
ESP-100 or EPP-100). Then connect your PALM PDA to the module with a
PALM Hotsync cable to the RS-232 serial port on the front of the module.
2. Tap the EFTA or ETA icon in the A2B Control menu of the PALM.
3. A Welcome menu should appear if your PALM is in contact with the
module. Click [Next].

4. This menu contains settings of the tuner parameters, channel or
frequency and bandwidth. Enter appropriate values and click [Next].
. Now choose which service you would like to use. Click [Next].
This menu gives you information
about the name of the service,
encryption etc.
6. Choose the language of the audio and video streams you want to use.
Click [Next].
7. The installation is now completed and audio and video from the
correct program should be present on the output. Click [Again] if you
want to modify the settings.

8. Your settings are now ready, but there are additional settings under
[Options]. Click [Options] and [Country]. The menus [Smartcar ]
and [CA Mo ule] are only shown for ETA-100.
9. Under the menu [Country] you can change the language and regional
settings from the default settings. Click [OK] and then [Deco er].
10. The [Deco er] menu allows you to choose between different audio
and video formats. Click [OK]. For EFTA1-T2 click [Software] and
continue at paragraph 13.

Paragraphs 11-12 is for ETA-100 only
11. Under the menu [Smartcar ] you can read smartcard authorization data if
smartcard is inserted and approved. Click [Close] and then [CA mo ule].
12. If a CA-module is inserted into the CA-slot the CA parameters can be read.
Click [Close]. The menu [Software] gives information about the firmware
version that is downloaded into the ETA-100. Hardware revision can also be read.
The menu [About] shows information about the control software.

14. Under the [Status] menu you can choose to see System, Receiver and
Decoder status information.
