Instructions for pipeline and electrical line detectors

Please be aware that the device may not always correctly detect all

pipes and lines.

The following conditions can cause imprecise results:

– Weak battery

– Thick walls with thin pipes or electrical lines

– Very thick walls

– Very deep-set electrical lines or pipes

– Walls covered with metal

– Very damp conditions

– Shielded cable

– Electrostatic charging

– Always test the device prior to use by detecting a known pipe/

a known electrical line.

– In case of doubt, always ask a qualified builder.

Inserting the battery

Open the battery comportment lid on the underside of the

device, pull the connector forward slightly and press the 9V

battery onto the connector with correct polarity. Close the

battery compartment lid.

Switching the device on and off

Press the button in order to switch the device on and off.

After 60 seconds without entry, the device will switch off automatically.

Detecting concealed objects

In order to avoid personal injury or material damage, the following must be

observed:

The device can be used to detect the following objects (materials):

– Wood/joists (STUD), maximum detection depth 19 mm

– Metal (METAL), maximum detection depth 30 mm

– Electric lines (AC), maximum detection depth 50mm

– With the DEEP setting, particularly deep-seated joists/wood and metal items can

be detected (max. detection depth 38 mm)

– Press the MODE button in order to select the required mode

Calibrating the device to the object

Prior to each search procedure, a calibration of the device takes place.

Hold the device still, with its reverse side against the surface in which you are

searching for the searched object and keep the calibration button pressed down, until

a bar cannot be seen on the LC display. Press the calibration button (4) and keep the

button pressed down. After approx. 2 seconds, three short beeping tones will sound.

The calibration is completed and the search procedure can begin.

Note:

– During the calibration, the device must be held still and must not be moved.

– If you calibrate too closely to the object or directly on the wood, the calibration

can fail. If the calibration should fail, the LC display will show the following symbol

“”or a long beeping tone will sound. Then, please switch the device on again,

in order to start the calibration. This time, please hold the device several centime-

tres further right or left from the previous surface. The calibration button must be

kept pressed during the entire search procedure and the device must be touching

the surface.

Searching for/detecting the concealed object

Note:

The searching/detecting procedure is the same in all 4 modes

and is clarified on the basis of the illustrations. The found

object must be passed over twice with the device, in each

case. The passing over takes place in opposite directions.

After calibration, slide the device slowly and in a horizontal

direction along the wall (see illustration). Do not lift or tilt the

device.

a) Display only shows the mode = no object in the vicinity

When you are approaching the sought object, the first bars in the LC display will

fill. With a full bar diagram, please place a mark on the point (see illustration).

b) Increasing bars in display = the device is approaching the object

c) Full bar display with constant beeping tone = the device is at the start of the

object

Continue moving the device in the same direction, until no bars appear in the display

anymore. Then, move the device in the opposite direction, in order to mark the other

corner of the object. Position the mark where the diagram is completely filled. (see

illustrations)

Detecting concealed objects

The sought object is between both of the markings.

NOTE:

If you are searching for metal objects in “METAL”mode, it can be necessary to repeat

the search procedure at a 90° rotation. Metal bars running parallel to the device can

disrupt the sensor.

Detecting concealed objects

If a lightning symbol should be displayed, in addition to the “AC” mode and the bar

diagram, the found object is a live electric line.

If you know that the lines run in a specific location, but cannot find these with the

device in “AC” mode, use the“METAL” mode. Electric lines can be shielded with metal

clear detection of the individual objects.

The device also measures concealed posts, slats and metal in walls up to a depth of

38 mm in “DEEP” mode. Here, the existence of posts, slats and metal is identified.

However, it cannot be distinguished between wood and metal. The Multi-Sensor is

maintenance-free. Clean the device with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
