4. General safety instructions
IMPORTANT
Read all instructions. Failure to follow all the instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or
serious injury. The term “power tool” in all of the warnings listed below refers to your mains operated (corded)
power tool or battery operated (cordless) power tool.
Keep the work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas can lead to accidents.
Do not operate power tools in explosive environments, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases
or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ingite the dust or fumes.
Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.
4.1 Work Area

Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs
with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric
shock.
Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes. There is an increased risk of electric
shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of elec-
tric shock.
Do not abuse the cable, never use the cable for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep the
cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cables increase risk of elec-
tric shock.
If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified electrician.
When operating a power tool outdoors, use a heavy duty extension cable (with minimum cable size of
2.5mm) suitable for outdoor use.
If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected
supply.
Electrical appliances must only be repaired by qualified personnel using original spare parts.
4.2 Electrical Safety

Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a
power tool while you are tired or under the influence drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention
while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
Always use personal protective equipment (PPE). Safety equipment such as eye protection, dust mask,
non-slip safety shoes, hard hat, ear defenders and gloves will help reduce risk of personal injuries.
Avoid accidental starting, ensure the switch is in the ‘off’ position before plugging in. Do not carry power
tools with your finger on the switch.
Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on.
Do not stretch / overreach as this may result in serious personal injury. Keep proper footing and balance at
all times, this enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

Dress appropriately, do not wear loos clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from
moving parts to avoid getting caught.
If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are
connected and properly used as this can reduce dust related hazards.

Do not force the power tool, use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do
the job better, easier and safer.
Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on or off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled
with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories or
storing. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
Store idle power tools out of reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or
these instructions to operate the power tool.
Maintain power tools regularly. Check for misalignment or sticking of moving parts, damaged parts and any
other condition that may affect the power tools operation. If damaged, repaire the power tool before using.
Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less
likely to stick and are easier to control.
Use the power tool, accessories, tool bits, etc. in accordance with these instructions and in the manner
intended for the particular type of power tool. Take into account the working conditions of the work to be
performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from the intended use may cause an accident
and/or injury.

5. General safety instructions for pole hedge trimmer
IMPORTANT
This product can cause serious injuries. Read the instructions carefully for the correct handling, preparation,
maintenance, starting and stopping procedures of the product. Become familiar with all controls and correct
use of the product.
Never allow children to use this product.
Beware of overhead power lines. Do not use the product in any position that causes any part to come within
10 metres of overhead electrical lines.
Avoid operating while people, especially children, or pets are nearby.
Dress appropriately, do not wear loos clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from
moving parts to avoid getting caught.
If the cutting mechanism strikes any foreign object or the product starts making any unusal noise or vibration
switch the product off, allow the product to stop, disconnect it from the power supply and let it cool down.
Inspect for any damage and for any loose parts. Have any damaged parts replaced or repaired and tighten
any loose parts.
In case of emergency, release the trigger and remove the harness from your shoulder.

Keep hands and feet away from the cutting devices at all times and especially when switching the product
on.
Do not try to grasp or remove trimmings when the product is running. Only remove trimmings when the prod-
uct is switched off and disconnected from the power supply.
Always be sure of a safe and secure operating position whilst using the product. Always be sure of your
footing when using steps.
Check cutting blades regularly for damage, repair immediately if there is any damage.
Do not overload the product.
Check immediately if the product starts to vibrate abnormally, excessive vibration can cause injury.
Switch the product off when the cutting device is blocked. Disconnect from the power supply and remove
the blockage. Inspect the cutting blades for damage before using the product again.
Follow the maintenance and repair instructions for this product. Never carry out any modifications on the
product as this can be dangerous and will invalidate your warranty.
Know how to stop the product quickly in an emergency.
Do not expose to rain and do not operate the product on a wet hedge.
Use the product only in daylight or in good artifical light.
Prolonged use of the product exposes the user to vibrations that can cause a range of conditions collectively
known as hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) e.g. fingers going white; as well as specific diseases such
as carpal tunnel syndrome.

Loosen upper locking sleeve (5) and lower locking sleeve (7) and pull the pole extension (6) outward.
Align the pole extension (6) to the support (4) and insert it till it comes to a stop.
Fasten both locking sleeves (5) (7).

6. Assembly instructions
WARNING
The product must be fully assembled before operation, do not use a product that is only partially assembled
or assembled with damaged parts.
Follow assembly instructions step-by-step and use the pictures provided as a visual guide. Do not connect the
product to the power supply before it is completel assembled.

7. Operation
Ensure that the hedge trimmer blades does not touch any objects.
Press the lock-off button (10) and hold it in position.
Press the on/off switch (11) to switch the product on.
Release the on/off switch (11) to switch the product off.

Adjust the pole tot he required length.
Cut and remove branches exceeding the cutting capacity of this product using a hand pruner before opera-
tion. N.B. Jamming the blade on large branches can cause damage.
Always hold the product firmly with both hands on the gripping surface and handle. Never operate this
product using only one hand. N.B. Try to keep the blades angled at approximately 15° to the cutting
surface.
Cut both sides from the bottom cutting upwards, this will prevent any of the cuttings falling into the path of
the area still to be cut.
After cutting the sides proceed to the top.
When cutting wide hedges with the cutting area in sight move the cutting blade lightly through the cutting
surface in a sweeping motion following the shape of the hedge or shurb. A slight tilt downwards of the
cutting blade in the direction of motion is recommended for optimum cutting performance.
Move the trimmer with slow motion forward when cutting an area out of sight.
Do not rush and do not attempt to cut too much with one stroke of the cutting blade.
Cut in a number of stages if the area being cut is particularly long to achieve a better result.
