1. UnpacktheWaterlogicWL500WaterTreatmentSystemandcheckexteriorfordamage.

Useproperliftingaidsandhandlingtechniquestoavoidinjury.Useassistanceassingleperson
liftcouldcauseinjury.Alwaysdrainbeforehandlingandtransportingandhandlingtoreducethe
weightoftheunit.
2. RemovetheRetainingScrewthatislocateddirectlyinfrontof
thefaucetnipple.RefertoFigure1.Removingthisscrewwill
allowaccesstotheinsideserviceablecomponents(Filtersand
UVLamp).
3. OpentheFrontHatchCoverbyliftingupandhingingoutward.
FrontHatchCovercanberemovedbycarefullysqueezingPanel
baseandpullingoverHingePins.
FlushFilters
CAUTION!FILTERSFLUSHREQUIRED.
WL500WaterTreatmentSystemsarenotsuppliedwithFilters.Filtersshouldbeconfiguredto
optimizeyoursystem.Filtersneedtobeconfiguredandspecifiedtodothejobgiventhelocalwater
conditions,usage,maintenanceschedule,andplacementrestrictions.

InorderforourFilterstoperformasrepresentedandtoprovidethebestqualitywaterpossible,itis
essentialthatFiltersbereplacedperiodically.ThefrequencyofFilterschangesdependsuponyour
waterqualityandyourwaterusage.Forexample,ifthereisalotofsedimentand/orparticlesin
yourwater,thenyouwillhavetochangeyourFiltersmorefrequentlythanalocationwithlittletono
sediment.BesuretoreplaceyourFilterswheneveryounoticeadeclineintheperformance,whether
itisadrop‐inflowrateand/orpressureoranunusualtasteinthewater.
4. FlushthoroughlyperFiltersmanufacturers’recommendationwithfreshwatertodrain.
5. Onceflushed,installtheFilters.FollowingtheflowdirectionontheFilters.
NOTE:
Filtersshouldnotbeflushedpriorto24hoursbeforeinstallationtolimitMicrobialGrowth.
Sanitizing
Sanitizeusingahouseholdbleachsolutionorotherapprovedcleanerthroughoutthecoldandsparkling
watercircuits.Followallinstructionsonthesanitizerandflushwithfreshwaterthroughthefaucet
untilodorandtasteisacceptable.
WARNING!USEPROPERPERSONALPROTECTIVEEQUIPMENT
Alwaysensureproperventilationanduseproperpersonalprotectiveequipmentsuchasglovesand
eyeprotectionwhenusingchemicals.RefertoMaterialSafetyDataSheetforspecificrequirements
ofeachchemicalproduct.Takeallnecessaryprecautionstopreventsanitizerfromcontactingeyes,
clothing,andanyothersurfacesincoulddamage(carpets).
6. RemovetheUVCoverPlateandsetaside–2Screws.
7. DisconnecttheUVLampharnessandcarefullyremovetheUVLampfromtheQuartzSleeve.
CAUTION!UVSYSTEMISFRAGILE.NeverhandletheUVSystemwithbarehands.UVLampand
QuartzSleevemustbefreeofoilsandcontaminantstoensureproperoperation.
8. RemoveUVSensorfromthesideoftheColdTank/QuartzSleeveRetainingCap.
9. UnscrewColdTank/QuartzSleeveRetainingCapandremovetheQuartzSleeve.Thismayrequire
TopCovertoberemovedtoaccessproperlyandfacilitateremoval.
10. Mix½gallonofsanitizerperdirectionsoruseBleachSolution(1teaspoon=1/6oz.=5ml=½cap
full)ofhouseholdbleach(SodiumHypochlorite5‐10%Concentration)with1/2gallonofwater.
Alwaysensuresanitizeriscompatiblewithstainlesssteelandacetylplastic.
11. PoursanitizersolutionintoColdTankthrufunnelorspout.Youmayaddconcentratedsanitizer(½
capbleach)directlyintoemptyColdTankinsteadofpremixing.

12. InspectandcleanQuartzSleeveandO‐ring.ReinstalltheQuartzSleeveandQuartzSleeveretaining
nut.Tightenfirmlytoensureproperseal.Over‐tighteningcancausedamage.
13. ReinstalltheUVLampandUVSensor.Takecarenottotouchwithfingers.
14. Connect40‐60psiregulated,potablewatersupplytothewaterinletbulkheadfittinglocatedonthe
backoftheunit.Turnonwatersupplyandcheckforleaks.
15. ConnectCO
2
gaslinetoWL500WaterTreatmentSystemBulkheadInletFitting.Regulateto35‐45
psi.TurnonCO
2

16. ConnectWL500WaterTreatmentSystemtopower,andturnontheRED
PowerSwitchI=ON.
CAUTION!NEVERTURNONHEATERBEFOREFILLINGHOTTANK.
GREENCompressor/HeaterSwitchmustbeintheO=OFFpositionwhile
theHotTankisempty.Damagecouldoccurwithinoneminuteandtheoverload(highlimit)will
requiremanualresetifheateristurnedonwithanemptyHotTank.
FilltheColdCircuitwithSanitizer
17. Wait10secondsfortheunittoperformitsdiagnosticschecks,depressthemaindispensingbutton
onthefrontcontrolPaneluntilcoldwater/sanitizingsolutioncomesoutthefaucet.
NOTE:Containeranddrainbasinwillberequiredtocatchthewaterfromthefaucet.

or3gallonsofwaterwillcontainconcentratedsanitizer.Useextremecare!
FilltheSparklingChamberwithSanitizer
18. ThesanitizersolutionwillbeinjectedintotheSparklingTankbytheboosterpumponceunitis
turnedonandtheColdTankisfull.Dispense1literofsparklingwaterintocontainerandlet
SparklingChamberregeneratetoensuretheSparklingTankisfullofsanitizer.
CAUTION!USESANITIZERCOMPATIBLEWITHSTAINLESSSTEELANDACETALPLASTIC.
Donotallowthesanitizersolutiontoremaininthesystemformorethen10‐15minutesunless
otherwisedirectedbythesanitizermanufacturer.
FlushingtheSanitizerfromtheMachine
19. Placeapitcher,catchbasin,orothercontainerunderthefaucetoftheWL500WaterTreatment
System.

20. FlushtheColdTank.Runseveralgallonsofwaterthroughthefaucetbydispensingcoldwaterto
diluteandremovethesanitizerfromthecoldcircuit.Youcanusechlorineteststripstoevaluatethe
water.Oncethesanitizerodor/tastehasbeenflushedoutofthecoldsideofthemachine,moveto
thesparklingcircuit.
21. FlushtheSparklingChamber.Dispensesparklingwateruntilonlygascomesout.LettheSparkling
Tankregenerate.Thisshouldtakeapproximately1minute,20seconds.Listenforthebooster
pumptoturnoff.Repeatthesparklingwaterregenerationuntilthesanitizerodor/tastehasbeen
flushedout.
22. ThesanitizationprocessfortheColdandSparklingCircuitsisnowcomplete.
FilltheHotTank
23. PresstheHotButton(Button3),followedbythemaindispensingbuttontofilltheHotTank.Water
willdispensefromthefaucetoncetheHotTankisfull.Flushuntilwaterisclear.

24. Dimorshieldtheoverheadlightsandpeerintothemachine,ontopoftheColdTank,attheUV
connectorandRetainingCap.Theblueglowindicatesthatthelampislit.
25. Findthewhitewiresdeliveringpowertothetopofthelampassembly.Followthewiresbackuntil
theelectricalconnectorisfound.DisconnecttheelectricalconnectorandverifythattheUVLamp
alarmannunciates.
26. ReconnecttheUVLampwireconnector,andcycletheRedPowerSwitchtoclearthealarm.
CompressorTest
27. SwitchontheGREENCompressor/HeaterSwitch(I=ON).Alwaysensure
tanksarefullofwaterbeforeturningontheheaterortheoverload(high
limit)willopenandrequiremanualreset.OncetheCompressorstarts,the
fancondenseralsowillstart.Verifythefanhasstartedbyfeelingforthe
dischargeofairatthereargrillofthemachine.Heatexchangeisasignal
thattherefrigerationsystemisworking.
28. MonitortheColdTanktemperatureonthefrontdisplayoftheunitbychangingtheTempDisplayto
RANGING.Itwilltakeabout45minutesfortheunittochilldowntothedefaultsetpoint
temperatureof41Fassumingambientinletwaterof75

29. Oncethemachinereachesitstargettemperature,theCompressorandfanwillshutoff.Drawa
glassofcoldwaterandverifyitishasbeenchilledtopropertemperature.

30. Alwaysensuretanksarefullofwaterbeforeturningontheheaterortheoverload(highlimit)will
openandrequiremanualreset.Itwilltaketheheaterapproximately10minutestoheatthewater
fromambient75Ftothefactorysetpointof189F.YoucanmonitortheHotTanktemperatureby
selectingthehotbuttonwhentheTempDisplayisRANGING.Dispenseacupofhotwatertoensure
thetemperature/odor/tasteisacceptable.

Thereare3tanksandaboosterpumpcircuitthatmustbedrainedintheWL500WaterTreatment
System.ThecoldstillwatercircuitoftheWL500WaterTreatmentSystemconsistsofa2‐literCold
Tank,a1‐literpre‐chillchamberandaboosterpumpcircuitthatissealedandmustbeventedtodrain.
Theboosterpumpwillhavesomewaterinthecircuitthatmustbepurgedtoremoveit.TheSparkling
Chamberdoesnothaveaventordrainportandmustbedispenseduntilempty(pushingCO
2
gasonly
outofthefaucet)toclearthewaterfromtheSparklingChamber.Itiscriticaltoclearthecoldstill
waterbeforedrainingtheSparklingChambertoensurethepumpdoesnotinjectwaterbackintothe
SparklingChamber.TheHotTankhasadrainportandistheonlytankthatisopentoatmosphere
throughtheventandfaucet.
PriortodrainingtheHotTank,turntheGREENCompressor/HeaterSwitchoff
(O=OFF),anddispense2litersofhotwaterfromthemachine.Ashotwateris
dispensedfromthefaucetoftheunit,colderwaterwillbeintroducedintotheHot
Tank.SincetheGREENCompressor/Heaterswitchisturnedofftheheaterwillnot
energizeandheattheincomingtapwater.Followingthisprecautionprevents
exposingpersonnelandequipment(drains,catchbasin,etc.)toscaldinghotwater.
DisableColdandHotTanks
1. TurnofftheGREENHeater/CompressorSwitchtodisabletheheaterand
Compressor.O=OFF
2. Dispense2litersofwaterthroughtheHotTanktocoolthewatertemperaturein
theHotTankandavoidburns.

Hotwatershouldbedispensedcarefullyintoinsulatedcontainertoavoidinjury.
TurnoffWaterSupplyandBleedWaterPressure
3. Isolatetheunitfromfeedwaterbyturningoffthesupply.
4. Dispensecoldstillwatertorelieveanypressurebuiltupinthesystem.
5. Removethewatersupplylinefromtheunit.
6. Installdustcaporplugintowatersupplylinebulkheadfitting.

12. RemovetheColdTankdrainlinecapanddrainthe2litersintoacontainer.
13. Removethepre‐chilldrainlinecapanddrainthe1literofwaterfromthepre‐chillchamberandthe
boosterpumpcircuit.
14. Atotalof3litersofcoldstillwaterwilldrainfromtheunit.

15. DispenseallsparklingwateroutoftheSparklingChamberthroughthefaucetoftheWL500Water
TreatmentSystemintothedriptray(holds1.5liters)orothercontaineruntilonlyCO
2
gasis
dispensed.TheSparklingChamberholdsamaximumof1literofwater.
16. Releasethedispensebuttonandlettheboosterpumpcycleontoinjectanyremainingwaterfrom
thestillwaterfeedcircuitandpumpintotheSparklingTankfor30seconds.
17. DispensesparklingwatertoclearanyremainingwaterfromtheSparklingTankthroughthefaucet
untilonlyCO
2
gasiscomingout.
18. TurnofftheREDPowerswitch(O=OFF).Thiswillkillpowertothepump
ensuringthatnowaterisinjectedbackintotheSparklingChamberandshut
offtheallSolenoidValves.CO
2
shouldstopdispensing.
19. TurnofftheCO
2
gassupplyatthebottle(screwshutoffvalveallthewayin).
20. ReleasegaspressureintheSparklingTankbyopening(flippingup)thePressureReliefValve(PRV)
ontopoftheSparklingChambertoventthesystem.Mayremovetopcovertoaccess.
21. RemembertoclosethePressureReliefValveonceallpressureisrelieved.
22. RemovetheCO
2
supplylinefromtheunit.
23. InstalldustcaporplugCO

29. ReinstalltheUVLamp.BecarefulnottotouchUVLampsurfaceasoilsfromyourhandscancause
darkspotsandimpacttheperformanceofthesystem.Alwayswipeofflampwithalcoholwipeor
equivalentifneeded.Ensurelampwiresarenotcrossedandneverforcelampintothesleeveto
avoiddamage.
30. ReconnectUVLamp.
31. ReinstalltheUVsensorintotheRetainingCap.
32. ReinstalltopcoverandtheUVLampcoverplate.
33. EnsurethefrontdisplayPCBribbonconnectorsaresecurelyattachedandcompletelyseatedto
avoidproblems.
34. ClosefrontHatchPanelandtightenthelockingscrewtosecure.
