3 Safety information
Observe all necessary regulations and instructions:
– Follow all warning notes, notices and instructions in this document to avoid personal injury and
material damage.
– Follow the company's accident prevention regulations as well as regional and national regulations.
– Follow the instructions of the axle and vehicle manufacturer.
– Make sure your workplace is dry as well as adequately lit and ventilated.
Make provisions for a safe work environment:
– Only trained and qualified technicians may carry out work on the vehicle.
– Please wear personal protection equipment to prevent injuries:

– Pedal actuations can lead to severe injuries if persons are in the vicinity of the vehicle. Make sure
that pedals cannot be actuated as follows:
– Switch the transmission to "neutral" and actuate the park brake.
– Secure the vehicle against rolling by using chocks.
– Fasten a visible note to the steering wheel indicating that work is being performed on the
vehicle and that the pedals are not to be actuated.
– Do not use the ABS/EBS Code Reader in the vicinity of:
heat sources
magnetic fields
exhaust gases
sources of electricity
– Do not expose the ABS/EBS Code Reader to impact, shock or moisture (water or other liquids).

4 Introduction
The ABS/EBS Code Reader is a device for the diagnosis of WABCO braking systems in trailers, towing
vehicles and buses. The sections below describe and explain operation and functions of the device.
All menu items in these instructions are stated in English. The language of the ABS/EBS can be
adapted, as described in Chapter "6.1 Setting the language", page 9.

5 Installation
Before you can start the device up you need to connect it to the vehicle. There are numerous WABCO
diagnostic cables available for this. Different ports can be used to connect the device to the vehicle.
Please use the manufacturer specifications for guidance, or find out more at

5.1 Connecting the ABS/EBS Code Reader
1. Select the correct diagnostic cable.
2. Connect the cable to the vehicle interface.
3. Attach the ABS/EBS Code Reader to the diagnostic cable.
4. Switch on the ignition to ensure a power supply.
The device is automatically supplied with voltage from the vehicle and switches itself on.
After switching on, the device briefly displays the installed version, before switching to the main
menu.

6 Operation
The ABS/EBS Code Reader can be used with one hand. A two-line digital display is located in the top
section with buttons for operating the device in the bottom section.
Key Meaning Explanation
EXIT Exit Exit menu or function
UP Up To access a menu item further up
DOWN Down To access a menu item further down
OK OK Confirm command or access a submenu
The menu structure is a circumferential menu. When the last menu item is reached by scrolling down or
up, the display jumps back to the first/last menu item.
At the top side there is a connecting cable with a 9-pin D-Sub connector. This connector is compatible
with all diagnostic cables from WABCO currently on the market and enables an easy connection to the
vehicles.
The ABS/EBS Code Reader does not require its own power supply. The power is supplied by the vehicle
to which it is connected.
6.1 Setting the language
The device is supplied with English as the default language. Please carry out the following steps to
change the language:
1. Attach the ABS/EBS Code Reader as described in Chapter "5 Installation", page 8.
2. Select menu item "2) Settings" (using the "UP" and "DOWN" buttons).
3. Confirm by pressing the "OK" button.
4. Select the "Language" menu item (using the "UP" and "DOWN" buttons).
5. Confirm by pressing the "OK" button once.
6. Use the "UP" and "DOWN" buttons to select the language you want.
7. Confirm the desired language by pressing the "OK" button.
The device is set to the language of your choice.
