right level. Babies need toys that will stimulate their interest in different

textures, sounds and colours, while on-the-go toddlers and pre-schoolers

want more interactive toys to develop their imaginations and encourage

Introduction

INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing the VTech®My First Phone. The VTech®

My First Phone is an electronic toy phone for children 12 months and

up. This colourful phone is loaded with learning and fun. The buttons

teach letters, numbers, animal names and sounds as well as playing

a variety of fun melodies. The removable handset has a baby safe

mirror, a sliding peek-a-boo window and is the perfect size for little

hands. Record your very own message and press the message button

to hear it played back. Who will you call today?

WARNING: All packing materials, such as tape, plastic sheets, wire

ties and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for

your child’s safety.

GETTING STARTED

BATTERY INSTALLATION

1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.

2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom

of the unit. Use a coin or a screwdriver

to loosen the screw.

3. Install 3 new ‘AA’ (UM-3/LR6) batteries

following the diagram inside the

battery box. (The use of new alkaline

batteries is recommended for maximum

performance.)

4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure the

battery cover.

BATTERY NOTICE

• The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum

performance.

• Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.

• Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy before

being charged (if removable).

• Rechargeable batteries are to be charged under adult supervision

(if removable).

• Different types of batteries or new and used batteries are not to

be mixed.

• Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended

are to be used.

• Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity

• Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the toy.

• The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.

• The toy is not to be connected to more than the recommended

number of power supplies.

• Do not dispose of batteries in ﬁre.

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE

BATTERIES.

PRODUCT FEATURES

1. ON/OFF/MODE SELECTOR SWITCH

To turn the unit ON, slide the ON/

OFF/MODE SELECTOR SWITCH to

the LETTER MODE ( “abc” ) or the

NUMBER MODE ( “123” ) position. To

turn the unit OFF, slide the ON/OFF/

MODE SELECTOR SWITCH to the

OFF position.

2. VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH

To adjust the volume, slide the VOLUME

CONTROL SWITCH on the bottom of

the unit to the LOW VOLUME ( ) or

the HIGH VOLUME ( ) position.

3. PULL CORD

To convert the unit from a push toy to

a pull toy, remove the pull cord from

the battery compartment and thread

it through the eyelet on the base. We

suggest you store the pull cord in the

compartment until your child is walking.

4. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF

To preserve battery life, the VTech®My

First Phone will automatically power-

down after approximately 30 seconds

without input. The unit can be turned

on again by pressing any button.

ACTIVITIES

1. Slide the on/off/mode selector

switch to turn the unit on. You will hear

a fun song and phrase. The screen will

ﬂash a variety of animations with the

sound.

2. Press the letter/number/animal

buttons to learn letters in the letter

mode and learn about numbers,

animal names and sounds in the

number mode. The screen will display

corresponding animations with the

sounds.

3. Remove or insert the removable

handset rattle to hear a variety of

playful phone phrases. The screen will

display a variety of animations with the

sound. The removable handset does

not contain any electronics.

4. Roll the phone to hear a variety

of animal sounds and melodies.

The screen will display a variety of

animations with the sound.

5. Press and hold down the two red

buttons underneath the unit, you will

hear a beep and then you may start

recording your own message. Speak

into the microphone to the right of the

message button for clear recording.

6. Press the message button for your child

to hear your pre-recorded messages.

The screen with ﬂash with a variety of

Care & Maintenance / Troubleshooting

CARE & MAINTENANCE

1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.

2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat

source.

3. Remove the batteries when the unit will not be in use for an

extended period of time.

4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit

to moisture or water.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If for some reason the program/activity stops working, please follow

these steps:

1. Please turn the unit OFF.

2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.

3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.

4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again.

5. If the product still does not work, replace with an entire set of new

batteries.
