Ready, Set, School ™ features fun characters and inviting school

themes that use technology to capture a child’s attention and teach

important preschool skills like spelling, counting and the alphabet.

These vital skills are taught in a way that’s both fun and highly

engaging to maintain a child’s interest. Children will also be

introduced to fun school subjects such as art class, music class and

even recess! With Ready, Set, School ™, learning is fun from day

INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing the VTech®Fly & Discover Globe™

learning toy!

The VTech®Fly & Discover Globe™ learning toy is an interactive

globe that allows your child to engage in role-play while learning

throughentertainingplay. Byfollowingthepilot’sinstructions,children

will be exposed to simple geography, including continents, oceans,

rivers, and mountains while learning about animals, their sounds

and where they live. The interactive joystick allows children to fly the

plane to various locations and hear appropriate responses. Fun

sounds and melodies provide added fun!

WARNING: All packing materials such as tape, plastic sheets, wire

ties and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for

your child’s safety.

GETTING STARTED

BATTERY INSTALLATION

1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.

2. Locate the battery cover on the

bottom of the unit. Use a

screwdriver to loosen the screw.

3. Install 4 new “AA” (LR 06) batteries

following the diagram inside the

battery box. (The use of new,

alkaline batteries is recommended

for maximum performance.)

4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure the

battery cover.

BATTERY NOTICE

• Install batteries correctly observing the polarity (+, -) signs to

avoid leakage.

• Do not mix old and new batteries.

• Do not use batteries of different types.

• Remove exhausted or new batteries from the equipment when

the unit will not be used for an extended period of time.

Introduction

• Do not dispose of batteries in fire.

• Do not attempt to recharge ordinary batteries.

• The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.

• Only batteries of the same and equivalent type as recommended

are to be used.

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE

BATTERIES.

PRODUCT FEATURES

1. ON/OFF BUTTON

To turn the unit on, press the ON/OFF

BUTTON. You will hear an opening

melodyandafriendlyphrase. Theunit

will automatically enter the Free Play

mode.

2. Press the ON/OFF BUTTON again to

turn the unit off.

3. INTERACTIVE JOYSTICK

Move the joystick left or right to fly the

plane forward or backward. Move the

joystick up and down to fly the plane

upordown.Releasethejoysticktostop

the plane.

4. MODES OF PLAY

The four modes of play include Free Play, Bright Flight, Tricky

Travels, and Creature Feature. Press one of the activity buttons

to select a mode. If an activity button is not pressed, the globe will

automatically default to the Free Play mode.

5. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF

To preserve battery life, the VTech®Fly & Discover Globe™

learningtoy will automatically turn offafter several minuteswithout

input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing the ON/OFF

button.

ACTIVITIES

Free Play Mode

1. Press the ON/OFF Button and you

will hear a short tune followed by

“Let’sexploreourworld, captain! Use

your joystick to fly your plane!” If you

do not press an activity button, the

unit will automatically launch this

mode.

2. Control the joystick to fly the plane

anywhere on the globe. Release the

joystick when you reach your

destination, and you will hear the

specific locations or animals identified.

Youcan either press the joystick button

or simply land the plane to hear the

destination identified.

3. If there is no input after 30 seconds,

you will hear an encouraging phrase

inviting you to play again.

Bright Flight Mode

1. Press the Bright Flight Button to

enter this activity. You will hear a short

tuneandan introductory phrase. If you

press the Bright Flight Button again,

you will enter the Free Play mode.

2. You will be asked to find your favorite

geographic location or animal. For

example,you will hear “Let’sfly to your

favorite continent!”

3. If you fly to the correct location, for

example, North America, you will hear

a rewarding sound effect and the unit

will say “NorthAmerica!” followed by a

specific melody for that region.

continent,the unit will identifyitandask

you to keep searching for the correct

location.

5. If you answer incorrectly after three

tries, the unit will ask you to try to

answer a new question.

Tricky Travels

1. Press the Tricky Travels Button and

you will hear a short tune and an

introductory phrase. If you press the

Tricky Travels Button again, you will

enter the Free Play mode.

2. You will be asked to fly to a certain

geographiclocation. Forexample,you

will hear “Let’s fly to a desert inAsia!”

3. If you fly to the correct location, for

example, Gobi Desert, you will hear

anencouragingsoundeffect.Thenthe

unit will identify that location and play

anencouraging phrase,“Youfoundit!”

4. If you fly to an incorrect location, the

unit will identify it and ask you to keep

finding the correct location.

5. If you answer incorrectly after three

tries, the unit will ask you to try to

answer a new question.

Creature Feature

1. Press the Creature Feature Button to

hear a short tune and an introductory

phrase. If you press the Creature

Feature Button again, you will enter

the Free Play mode.

2. You will be asked to find a certain

animal. For example, you will hear

“Where is the camel?”

positive sound effect.Then the unit will

identify the camel, where it lives, and

play its sound.

4. Ifyouflyto an incorrect animal, the unit

will ask you to keep finding the correct

one.

5. If you answer incorrectly after three

tries, the unit will ask you to try to

answer a new question.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.

2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat

source.

3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended

period of time.

4. Do not drop the unit on a hard surface and do not expose the unit

to moisture or water.
