These operating instructions are to be read carefully and to
be complied with before installation and operation.
It is absolutely essential to comply with the measures listed
in the chapter on notes on safety.
Notes on safety
General
These operating instructions contain basic information which must be complied with for
installation, operation and maintenance. They are therefore to be read and to be complied
with by the fitter and the responsible trained staff/operator before assembly and
commissioning. They must be permanently available at the place where the system is
used.
Not only are the general notes on safety listed under this section “Notes on safety” to be
complied with, but also the special notes on safety included in the other sections.
Personnel qualifications and training
The personnel responsible for operation, maintenance, inspection and assembly must
have the appropriate qualifications for this work.
Hazards resulting from non-compliance with the notes on safety
Non-compliance with the notes on safety can endanger personnel as well as the
environment and the system. Non-compliance with the notes on safety may result in the
loss of any claims for damage.

Safety conscious work
The notes on safety listed in these operating instructions, the existing national regulations
on accident prevention as well as internal notes on work, operation and safety are to be
complied with.
Notes on safety for maintenance, inspection and assembly work
The operator has to ensure that all maintenance, inspection and assembly work is carried
out by authorized and qualified trained staff who are informed by means of an indepth
study of the operating instructions.
Work on the system must only be carried out when it is shut down. It is absolutely essen-
tial to comply with the procedure described in the operating instructions for shutting down
the system.
During maintenance worktheunit/systemmustbede-energizedandpreventedfrombeing
switched on unintentionally by a warning sign.
The de-energized state of the unit or the system must be checked.
Before recommissioning the preparatory measures listed under the “Assembly/
Commissioning”instructions are to be complied with.
Independent conversion and replacement parts manufacture
The system may only be converted or modified after consultation with STULZ. Original
replacement parts and replacement parts/accessories authorized by STULZ help safety.
The use of other parts may invalidate the equipment warranty.
Unacceptable operating methods
The operating safety of the system is only guaranteed when it is used as intended.
The limit values assumed in the technical data must not be exceeded under any
circumstances.
This symbol indicates special measures or hazards to
which it is essential to pay attention.

1. Technical description
The control unit for the ENS and BNB ultrasonic humidifiers are ready wired and tested.
The humidity sensors, the sensor for water quality, the humidifier itself and the power
connection have to be connected before the humidifying system can work.
The master/slave control concept permits all actuations of up to 10 humidifiers of the
highest output including drain valves or 30 humidifiers of the highest output without drain
valve tobemonitored, operatedand controlledbythe ultrasoniccontroller, amicroprocessor
in the master control unit.
The compact design permits servicing from the front only by removing the cover.

2. Switching operation
The control unit always controls the humidifiers proportionally (continuously variable) via a
solid state relay (wear-free).
Bi-directional suppressor diodes are provided in parallel with the solid state transducers to
protect against voltage peaks.
Forinherent safety(bathfeedback),contactors withspecially calculated coilsandprotective
RC attenuators are installed to protect the level monitors.
The unit is intended for room humidifiers with only one sensor and also for duct humidifiers
with two humidity sensors.
The control unit can be set-up to operate with humidity sensors of various types and
without sensors for connection to an external controller, via DIP switches on the
microprocessorprinted circuit board.(Detailsin the operating instructions for the ultrasonic
controller)
The ultrasonic controller microprocessor with the appropriate inputs is required only in the
MASTER control unit for each humidifier system. All additional humidifiers in the system
are controlled by the more cost effective SLAVE control units.
The ultrasonic controller includes the following functions:
- Conductivity measurement
- Proportional adapter
- Proportional controller
- Signal converter
- Maximum limiting
- Limit value monitoring
