Approval Conditions
This Deckvest is approved to ISO 12402-2 275N and 2010 SOLAS MSC 200 (80). It is
important to get into the habit of wearing your Deckvest. It is comfortable, safe and a
pleasure to wear.
A lifejacket only works correctly if it is tted and secured correctly.
Inatable lifejackets only become buoyant when inated: they contain no inherently
buoyant materials.
As user, it is your personal responsibility to understand the operation and maintenance
requirements of your inatable lifejacket and be familiar with its limitations.
Minimum buoyancy 275N
Re-arming your Duro SOLAS
Remove cylinders and old ring caps by unscrewing anti clockwise.
Check ring mechanism moves freely and is free from any contamination replace rst the
cap and then the cylinder, ensuring a secure t.
Inating your Duro SOLAS
It is recommended that the following ination procedures are followed:
1. MANUAL INFLATION
To manually inate the lifejacket, sharply pull either rubber handle downwards. The
CO2 gas cylinder should inate the bladder within seconds.
2. ORAL INFLATION
To inate the lifejacket by mouth, locate the oral ination tube by opening the zip at
the yellow breakout point on the front panel of the lifejacket. Then after removing
the end cap, blow into the tube until the lifejacket is fully inated.
3. AUTOMATIC INFLATION
Ination should occur automatically within seconds of the inator being submerged.
The automatic capsule is designed to activate a sprung pin to puncture the CO2
cylinder and inate the bladder.

7
Maintaining your Duro SOLAS
Maintaining this Deckvest should be the responsibility of one sole user. As the user you are
strongly advised to familiarise yourself fully with the Deckvest before using it as a lifejacket.
We advise that you follow a 3-level checking routine, easily carried out by yourself:
1. During Use, check buckles and other fastenings regularly.
2. Before and after use, examine for damage or excessive abrasion, wear, tear or
contamination. Particular attention must be paid to the stitching and webbing,
including the less accessible areas.
3. Every three months, carry out a complete inspection, checking:
a. The fabric: for cuts, tears, abrasion and damage caused by heat, chemicals etc.
b. The lifejacket: to check for leaks, inate both bladder compartments separately
through the oral tube until rm and leave for 24hrs. Any loss of rmness indicates
leakage and means it is unsafe.
To check the oral valve, fully inate the lifejacket and hold the tube under water. If
bubbles appear, deate and re-inate to test.
If a leak persists, do not use your lifejacket until it has been professionally serviced at
your nearest service centre.
c. The components: remove and inspect all components.
Ensure C0

cylinder is screwed in tight.
CO2Cylinder size - SOLAS Model 275N: Requires 2 x 60g
CORRECTING PRESSURE VARIANCE
With variations in air or water temperatures, topping up by oral ination may be required
to maintain full buoyancy especially after prolonged immersion.
Deating your Duro SOLAS
To deate the lifejacket, invert the oral-ination tube end cap and insert it into the valve.
Holding the cap rmly in this position, gently squeeze the lifejacket until all air or gas has
been expelled. Return the cap to its normal position.
WARNING: Using the CO2 ination when your jacket is already fully inated can
over-pressurise and damage your lifejacket.

8
Testing your Duro SOLAS
You should always test the ination of your lifejacket to ensure you are fully aware of how
it functions.
This can be done with the Oral, Manual or Automatic inators.
If planning to test the lifejacket with the Oral inator you will not need any spare parts
or rearming kits as long as you remove the CO2 cylinder and automatic capsule before
entering the water.
If you are a weak swimmer it is strongly recommended to use an automatic lifejacket or
an inherently buoyant device.
1. Put on the Duro SOLAS and adjust to t.
2. Stand in shallow water or swimming pool, just deep enough for your head to be
above the surface.
3. Ination:
Automatic: lifejacket should fully inate within ve seconds of water
contacting the ring head.
Manual: lifejacket can be activated by a sharp pull on the ination handle.
Oral ination: Ensure that cylinder and ring head have been removed before
entering the water. Open the lifejacket cover from the zip breakout point, locate
the oral inator, remove cap and blow through tube.
4. After testing completely deate the lifejacket using the oral inator.
5. Let the Deckvest dry thoroughly. Do not expose to direct heat.
WARNING:
If in doubt, send your Duro SOLAS to your nearest service centre for evaluation and/
or servicing.
If you are not completely condent about undertaking the self-inspection and
servicing of your lifejacket in accordance with these instructions, you must not use
your lifejacket again until it has been professionally inspected and serviced. (For
details of your nearest service centre see www.spinlock.co.uk).

unless carried out by Spinlock Ltd.

dicult to guarantee the durability of the fabric and strong parts. If you feel that
your Deckvest has had little use, then you are able to inspect and self service the

THESE INSTRUCTIONS - See video at www.spinlock.co.uk
WE RECOMMEND THAT THE AUTOMATIC CAPSULE (PART NO. DW-UML5) IS
REPLACED ANNUALLY. ALSO UNSCREW AND INSPECTTHE THREADED END OF
THE CO2CYLINDER TO CONFIRM IT IS UNUSED.
