Preface
About this Guide
The Spectra-Physics Pulseo system is a solid-state, Q-switched laser that produces laser
pulses at adjustable repetition rates from 1
Hz to 400 kHz. The system is comprised of
the Pulseo laser head, the D-Series power supply, and a closed-loop chiller.
This Pulseo Series User’s Manual contains information for safely installing and
operating your Pulseo diode-pumped, Q-switched, green or ultraviolet laser system.
This guide is written for the Pulseo 355-20, 355-10, and 532-34 models.
Overview of this Guide
The Pulseo Series User’s Manual includes the following sections:
Chapter 1, “Introduction,” is a brief overview of the Pulseo system.
Chapter 2, “Laser Safety and Compliance,” contains warnings and important
information regarding laser safety. Review this chapter before using the Pulseo
system.
Chapter 3, “Pulseo Laser Description,” contains a description of the components
used in the Pulseo system, along with system specifications and outline drawings.
Chapter 4, “Controls, Indicators, and Connections,” describes the external control
features of the Pulseo system.
Chapter 5, “Preparing for Operation,” provides instructions for installing the USB
driver and GUI software.
Chapter 6, “Operation,” describes how to operate the Pulseo system, including
Control Panel features and use, triggering and gating techniques, and using the
LASER CONTROL interface.
Chapter 7, “Maintenance,” provides straightforward procedures necessary to keep
the Pulseo system properly maintained.
Chapter 8, “Diagnostics and Troubleshooting,” provides a list of fault codes and
proper responses, plus a list of field replaceable parts.
Chapter 9, “Customer Service,” describes our product warranty, return policy, and
training programs, and provides information on contacting customer service,
including a list of our service center locations.
Chapter 10, “Field Replaceable Units (FRUs),” lists the available field replaceable
unit (FRU) parts.
Appendix A, “Serial Command Interface,” lists the command codes used in the
serial interface.
Appendix B, “Nalco MSDS,” provides material safety data sheet (MSDS) supplied
by the Nalco Company for the algaecide and cleaner used in the Pulseo closed-loop
cooling system.
