1.1 Validity
This document is valid for the device type "COMGW-10" (SMA Com Gateway) from firmware
version 1.00.01.R.
1.2 Structure
This document is divided into a language-specific and a language-neutral section.
The language-specific section contains general and safety-relevant information on the product,
which is listed in various languages consecutively. The language-specific section is identified by
registers in the page margin.
The language-neutral section describes the steps necessary for installing and commissioning the
product in graphic form. The language-neutral section follows the language-specific section and is

1.3 Target group
The tasks described in this document must only be performed by qualified persons. Qualified
persons must have the following skills:
• Training in the installation and configuration of IT systems
• Knowledge of how an inverter works and is operated
• Training in how to deal with the dangers and risks associated with installing and using
electrical devices and installations
• Training in the installation and commissioning of electrical devices and installations
• Knowledge of the applicable standards and directives
• Knowledge of and compliance with this document and all safety information
2 Safety
2.1 Intended Use
The SMA Com Gateway is a media and protocol converter that integrates PV systems and
components connected with each other via RS485 into the SMA Speedwire network.
In connection with a SMA data logger, the SMA Com Gateway must be operated with Speedwire
(e.g. SMAClusterController). The system data of all detected RS485 devices is forwarded from
SMA Com Gateway via Speedwire to the SMA data logger. At the same time, the SMA Com
Gateway supports communication with up to 50 RS485 devices.
The USB interface of the SMA Com Gateway may only be used for firmware updates.
The product is designed for indoor use only.

2.2 Safety Information

the product.
To prevent personal injury and property damage and to ensure long-term operation of the product,

Danger to life due to electric shock
Under fault conditions, when working on the power supply circuit there may be dangerous
voltages present on the product.
• With permanently connected power supply units, ensure that there is a disconnection unit
(e.g. circuit breaker) present outside of the power supply unit.
• With pluggable power supply units, ensure that the outlet for the power supply unit is close
to the power supply unit.
• The disconnect unit and the outlet for the power supply unit must be freely accessible at all
times.
Danger of fire due to incorrect installation
• Have the product mounted, installed and commissioned only by qualified persons with the
appropriate skills.
• Never open the product.

Damage to the product due to moisture
The product is not splash-proof (IP20). Moisture can penetrate the product and damage it.
• Only use the product in a dry, indoor environment.
Damage to the product due to condensation
If the product is moved from a cold environment to a warm environment, condensation may form
in the product.
• When there is a large temperature difference, wait for the product to reach room
temperature before connecting to the voltage supply.
• Make sure the product is dry.

1.2 Aufbau

Der sprachbehaftete Teil enthält allgemeine und sicherheitsrelevante Informationen zum Produkt,

Die in diesem Dokument beschriebenen Tätigkeiten dürfen nur Fachkräfte durchführen. Fachkräfte
müssen über folgende Qualifikation verfügen:
• Ausbildung für die Installation und Konfiguration von IT-Systemen
• Kenntnis über Funktionsweise und Betrieb eines Wechselrichters
• Schulung im Umgang mit Gefahren und Risiken bei der Installation und Bedienung
elektrischer Geräte und Anlagen
• Ausbildung für die Installation und Inbetriebnahme von elektrischen Geräten und Anlagen
• Kenntnis der gültigen Normen und Richtlinien
• Kenntnis und Beachtung dieses Dokuments mit allen Sicherheitshinweisen
2 Sicherheit
2.1 Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das SMA Com Gateway ist ein Medien- und Protokollkonverter, der über RS485 miteinander
verbundene PV-Anlagenteile und -Systeme in das SMA Speedwire Netzwerk integriert.
Das SMA Com Gateway muss in Verbindung mit einem SMA Datenlogger mit Speedwire (z.B.
SMA Cluster Controller) betrieben werden. Die Systemdaten aller erfassten RS485-Geräte werden
vom SMA Com Gateway über Speedwire an den SMA Datenlogger weitergeleitet. Dabei
unterstützt das SMA Com Gateway die Kommunikation mit bis zu 50 RS485-Geräten.

Die USB-Schnittstelle des SMA Com Gateway darf ausschließlich für Firmware-Updates genutzt
werden.
Das Produkt ist ausschließlich für den Einsatz im Innenbereich geeignet.
Der erlaubte Betriebsbereich aller Komponenten muss jederzeit eingehalten werden.
Setzen Sie das Produkt ausschließlich nach den Angaben der beigefügten Dokumentationen und
gemäß der vor Ort gültigen Normen und Richtlinien ein. Ein anderer Einsatz kann zu Personen-
oder Sachschäden führen.
Eingriffe in das Produkt, z. B. Veränderungen und Umbauten, sind nur mit ausdrücklicher
schriftlicher Genehmigung von SMA Solar Technology AG gestattet. Nicht autorisierte Eingriffe
führen zum Wegfall der Garantie- und Gewährleistungsansprüche sowie in der Regel zum
Erlöschen der Betriebserlaubnis. Die Haftung von SMA Solar Technology AG für Schäden aufgrund
solcher Eingriffe ist ausgeschlossen.
Jede andere Verwendung des Produkts als in der bestimmungsgemäßen Verwendung beschrieben
gilt als nicht bestimmungsgemäß.
Die beigefügten Dokumentationen sind Bestandteil des Produkts. Die Dokumentationen müssen
gelesen, beachtet und jederzeit zugänglich aufbewahrt werden.
Das Typenschild muss dauerhaft am Produkt angebracht sein.
2.2 Sicherheitshinweise
Dieses Kapitel beinhaltet Sicherheitshinweise, die bei allen Arbeiten an und mit dem Produkt immer
beachtet werden müssen.
Um Personen- und Sachschäden zu vermeiden und einen dauerhaften Betrieb des Produkts zu
gewährleisten, lesen Sie dieses Kapitel aufmerksam und befolgen Sie zu jedem Zeitpunkt alle
Sicherheitshinweise.
Lebensgefahr durch Stromschlag
Bei Arbeiten am Versorgungsstromkreis können im Fehlerfall gefährliche Spannungen am Produkt
anliegen.
• Bei Netzteilen mit Festanschluss sicherstellen, dass eine Trenneinrichtung (z. B.
Leitungsschutzschalter) außerhalb des Netzteils vorhanden ist.
• Bei Netzteilen mit Steckanschluss sicherstellen, dass sich die Steckdose für das Netzteil in
der Nähe des Netzteils befindet.
• Die Trenneinrichtung und die Steckdose für das Netzteil müssen jederzeit leicht zugänglich
sein.
Brandgefahr durch fehlerhafte Installation
• Das Produkt ausschließlich von Fachkräften mit entsprechender Qualifikation montieren,
installieren und in Betrieb nehmen lassen.
• Das Produkt nie öffnen.

Beschädigung des Produkts durch Feuchtigkeit
Das Produkt ist nicht spritzwassergeschützt (IP20). Dadurch kann Feuchtigkeit eindringen und das
Produkt beschädigen.
• Das Produkt nur im Innenbereich in trockener Umgebung verwenden.
Beschädigung des Produkts durch Kondenswasser
Wenn das Produkt von einer kalten Umgebung in eine warme Umgebung gebracht wird, kann
sich im Produkt Kondenswasser bilden.
• Bei großen Temperaturunterschieden mit dem Anschluss der Spannungsversorgung warten,
bis das Produkt Raumtemperatur erreicht hat.
• Sicherstellen, dass das Produkt trocken ist.

2 Bezpečnost
2.1 Použití vsouladu surčením
SMAComGateway je media konvertor a převodník protokolů, který je prostřednictvím
fotovoltaických dílů a systémů navzájem propojených pomocí RS485 integrován do sítě SMA
Speedwire.
Brána SMAComGateway musí být provozována ve spojení s dataloggerem SMA se Speedwire
(např. SMAClusterController). Systémová data všech detekovaných zařízení RS485 jsou bránou
SMAComGateway předávána SMA dataloggeru prostřednictvím Speedwire.
SMAComGateway přitom podporuje komunikaci s až 50 RS485 přístroji.

USB rozhraní brány SMAComGateway smí být používáno výhradně pro aktualizace firmware.
Produkt je vhodný pouze pro použití ve vnitřních prostorech.
Vždy musí být dodržován povolený rozsah provozních hodnot všech komponent.
Používejte produkt pouze podle údajů uvedených vpřiložené dokumentaci apodle norem

2.2 Bezpečnostní upozornění

• U síťových zdrojů se zástrčkou zajistěte, aby se zásuvka pro síťový zdroj nacházela v
blízkosti síťového zdroje.
• Odpojovač a zásuvka pro síťový zdroj musejí být v jakémkoliv okamžiku snadno přístupné.
VAROVÁNÍ
Při nesprávné instalaci hrozí nebezpečí vzniku požáru.
• Produkt smějí montovat, instalovat a uvádět do provozu pouze odborní pracovníci s
odpovídající kvalifikací.
• Produkt nikdy neotvírejte.
