Installing the Movement
1 – Carefully unpack the movement
with accessories. Please take care
not to bend the pendulum suspension spring
and the chime hammers. Do not remove
the hammer and chain protection yet.
2 – Make a seat board from approx. 10 mm
of solid wood or plywood or adapt the
SELVA Seat Board No. 086-444-3 to fit the case. The
width and
depth of the board depend on the dimensions of
the upper
section of the case. The dimensions for the chain and
fastening holes in the board are shown in the movement diagram.
3 – Position the dial on the universal blind plate supplied with the
movement and glue or screw it on.
4 – Hook the actuating rod to the silencing lever (see sketch).
5 – Pull the rod downwards = chimes »Off«
Push the rod upwards = chimes »On«
6 – Place the blind plate with dial on the front of the movement
and secure it by fitting four tapered clock pins throught the cross-
bores of the dial feet.
7 – Centre the movement with dial and seat board in the top of the
clock case. Take care that the posi-tion of the dial corresponds with
the opening in the upper glass door and that the clock hands do
not touch the glass door. Also determine the fore- and aft position
of the movement.
8 – Mark the position of the seat board in the clock case, then
mount strips of wood or brackets to support the board in the top
of the case.
9 – Mark the positon of the gong in the case, so that the hammers
strike the gong rods about 25 mm beneath the gong base.
10 – Take the movement out of the case. Fasten the gong in the
marked position onto the back panel of the clock case.
11 – Guide the pendulum leader through the pendulum crutch and
hook it to the pendulum suspension spring.
TAKE CARE not to kink the pendulum suspension spring.
12 – Place the movement back in the case. Turn the hammer safety
bracket away from the hammers. Check whether all chains are
hanging freely. If necessary, re-work the opening between the top
and the middle section of the case.
13 – Mount the movement with the seat board into the case.
14 – Slide the pendulum bob onto the lower end of the pendulum
rod and screw on the rating nut.
15 – Hook the pendulum to the pendulum leader.
16 – Fit the weight fillings into the weight shells and secure the shell
covers with hooks and cap nuts.
17 – Hang the two weights on the chains.
18 – Pull up the weights. Support the weights by hand in order to
take the stress off the chain wheels.
The Chime Train
1 – Align the three hammers with the individual gong rods by care-
fully bending the hammer wires with flat-nosed pliers. Please take

Insérer le mouvement
1 – Déballer avec précaution le mouvement
et les accessoires. Prendre soin de ne pas
plier ni la suspension ni les marteaux.
Ne pas encore enlever les protections des
marteaux, de la suspension et des chaînes.
2 – Construire un coulisseau dans un morceau
de bois massif ou de contre-plaqué de 10 mm
d’épaisseur. La largeur et la profondeur du cou-
lisseau dépend des mesures de la partie supérieure du cabinet.
Les mesures des trous de fixation et ceux des chaînes sont inscrites
sur les croquis.
3 – Dans le cas d’un cadran en métal détaché, fixer la contre-platine
ci-jointe sur la platine-avant du mouvement et – selon le type de
mouvement – l’assurer avec les quatres goupilles ou les chevilles.
Faire attention à ce que la découpure de la platine soit du côté du
levier d’arrêt de la sonnerie.
4 – Visser ou coller le cadran (à l’aide d’ùne colle de contact ou
d’une bande adhésive) exactement dans l’angle et le centrer par
rapport à l’aiguillage.
5 – Pousser le mouvement avec le cadran et le coulisseau dans
le cabinet. A l’aide de taquets de bois ou de matériel similaire,
placer exactement le mouvement afin que la découpure du cadran
du cabinet coincide et déterminer la position du mouvement en
profondeur. Faire attention à ce que l’aiguillage ne touche pas le vitre.
6 – Marquer définitivement et exactement la position du coulisseau
et monter ce dernier dans cette position à l’aide de rails ou de
rainures ou d’autres similarités. Ce montage doit être trés solide
car les poids du mouvement sont une charge importante.
7 – Déterminer la position des tiges des gongs dans le cabinet à
l’aide des esquisses. Marquer les trous de fixation du plot du gong
et les percer. Fixer le plot du gong avec les vis à tête bombée et
les rondelles évidées ci-jointes. Selon le cas, pour cette opération,
le mouvement doit être démonté du coulisscau.
8 – Préparer la position des marteaux sur les tiges du gong. Dans le
cas où le cabinet n’a pas de porte sur le côté ou d’ouverture, il est
préférable d’ôter le cadran pour atteindre les fils des marteaux. Les
têtes des marteaux doivent frapper exactement le milieu des tiges
du gong et en position de repos les têtes des marteaux doivent être
à 2 mm des tiges du gong. Faire attention à ce que les marteaux ne
se touchent pas entre eux.
Attention : Pour ajuster les marteaux, les fils de ces derniers doivent
être tenus en leur milieu à l’aide d’une pince-bec. Avec une deuxième
pince courber la partie supérieure des fils des marteaux.
9 – Enlever la protection des chaînes et accrocher les poids de la
sonnerie. Placer l’aiguille des minutes dans une position quelconque
et en la faisant tourner, faire sonner la pendule (le levier d’arrêt de la
sonnerie doit se trouver en-bas). Ecouter attentivement la sonnerie.
Si c’est nécessaire, réajuster la position des fils des marteaux.
10 – Retirer la capsule de protection en plastique de la lame de
suspension. Introduire la rallonge du pendule à l’endroit le plus
étroit dans la partie menante du pendule et l’accrocher à la lame
de suspension.

Einbau des Uhrwerks
1 – Das Uhrwerk mit Zubehör
vorsichtig auspacken. Bitte darauf achten,
dass die Pendelfeder und die Schlaghämmer
nicht verbogen werden. Die Hammer-
sicherungen bitte noch nicht entfernen.
2 – Aus ca. 10 mm-Massiv- oder Sperrholz
einen Werkschlitten anfertigen oder den
SELVA Werkschlitten Nr. 086-444-3 dem Gehäuse anpassen.
Die Breite und Tiefe des Schlittens richtet sich nach den
Abmessungen des Gehäuseoberteils. Die Abmessungen für die
Ketten- und Befestigungslöcher im Werkschlitten sind aus den
Werkzeichnungen ersichtlich.
3 – Die beiden Uhrketten vorsichtig über die Kettenräder des Uhr-
werks legen.
4 – Das Uhrwerk so auf den Werkschlitten setzen, dass der Ausschnitt
für den Pendel hinten und die Ausfräsung für den Gong unter den
Hämmern liegt. Die Ketten durch die entsprechenden Schlitten-
bohrungen ziehen.
5 – Das Uhrwerk mit zwei Sechskantschrauben und zwei Unterleg-
scheiben am Werkschlitten befestigen.
6 – Die jeweils letzten Kettenglieder mit Hilfe zweier Flachzangen
aufbiegen. An den äußeren Kettenenden je einen Haken, an den
inneren je eine Öse anbringen. Die Kettenglieder wieder schließen.
7 – Ca. eine Handbreit über den Kettenhaken je einen Anschlag-
ring an den beiden Ketten anbringen. Diese Ringe verhindern, dass
die Gewichte zu weit hochgezogen werden.
8 – Das vorgesehene Zifferblatt auf der dem Uhrwerk beiliegenden
Universal-Blindplatine zentrieren und aufkleben oder -schrauben.
9 – Den Haken der Abstellstange von vorne in die Bohrung des
Ab-stellhebels am Uhrwerk einhängen (siehe Skizze).
10 – Abstellstange nach unten ziehen = Schlag »Aus«.
Abstellstange nach oben schieben = Schlag »Ein«.
11 – Die Blindplatine mit Zifferblatt auf die Vorderseite des Uhrwerks
stecken und durch Einstecken der vier konischen Vorsteckstifte in
die Querbohrungen der Platinenpfeiler sichern.
12 – Das Uhrwerk mit Zifferblatt und Schlitten im Kopf des vorge-
sehenen Gehäuses zentrieren. Darauf achten, dass die Lage des
Zifferblattes mit dem Ausschnitt in der oberen Gehäusetür überein-
stimmt und die Zeigerwelle nicht am Türglas anstößt. Auch die Lage
des Uhrwerks in der Tiefe festlegen.
13 – Die Position des Werkschlittens im Gehäuse genau festhalten,
dann einfache Leisten, Nutleisten oder ein Schemel als Lager für
den Werkschlitten im Gehäusekopf befestigen.
14 – Die Lage des Gongs im Gehäuse so festlegen, dass die Hämmer
ca. 25 mm unter dem Gongklotz auf die Gongstäbe treffen.
15 – Das Uhrwerk aus dem Uhrgehäuse nehmen. Den Gong in der
ermittelten Position an der Gehäuserückwand befestigen.
16 – Die Pendelverlängerung vorsichtig in die Ankergabel einführen,
dann – mit der Hakenöffnung nach hinten – an der Pendelfeder
einhängen.
VORSICHT: Die Pendelfeder darf nicht geknickt werden!
