Incompilingthisbookletwehavetakenintoconsiderationalloperationswhichfallintotheroutinemaintenance
bracket.
Never perform repairs or maintenance work not indicated in this manual.
All operations requiring dismantling of parts should be done by authorized engineers. In the event of machine
partshavingto bereplaced, onlyever useSCM originalspares, havingidentical featurestothosewhichhaveto
be replaced.
Informationconcerningexclusivelythosemachinesinconformitywithdirective89/392/EECareindicatedbythe
symbol while information concerning non-EEC machines is indicated by the symbol .
To correctly use the machine, carefully follow the instructions in this manual.
Only trained and authorized personnel, who have read this manual, should use the machine and perform
maintenanceoperations.
Observe all accident prevention regulations, general safety regulations and work medicine regulations.
Note for servicing:
- Only ever use original SCM spares. The manufacturer declines all responsibility for the use of non-
originalspares.
- For specific information on the wiring system, supply details indicated on the plate (fig. 1.1) situated
inside the access door of the electrical compartment.
This manual must be kept for future reference.

1-4 EXPECTED CONDITIONS OF USE AND CONTRAINDICATIONS
This machine must be used only for the cutting of wood and similar materials. By “similar materials” is meant
materialswithsimilartechnologicalandphysicalfeaturestothoseofwoodandtothemechanismofworkingand
removalofshavings.
Materials different from those mentioned above, not being similar to wood, must necessarily be excluded. The
user alone shall be responsible for any damage to the machine produced by machining such materials.
DIMENSIONS OF THE PIECES TO BE MACHINED
The maximum dimensions of the machined pieces are:................................. height 120 mm x width 230 mm
considering that maximum removal size is 10 mm, the maximum dimensions of the pieces to be worked are:
height 140 mm x width 250 mm.
Given the possibility of removals from 10 mm to 0.1 mm, minimum dimensions can be achieved of: machined

TOOLS TO BE USED
The machine has been designed to use exclusively tools in conformity with prEN847-1 standards, suitable for
the type of material to be machined.
The relationship between tool diameter and tool height, given equal rotation speed, is indicated on the table at
chapter 4-1
ENVIRONMENT
The machine can operate in the following environmental conditions:
Humidity: 90 % max.
Temperature: +1°C min. +40°C max.
Altitude: 1000 m a.s.l. max. (above this altitude, consult the manufacturer)
The machine can only operate in closed environments.
This machine cannot work in explosive environments.
1-3 MACHINE IDENTIFICATION
The machine can be identified from the indications provided on the metal plate on the side of the bed.

PROHIBITED USES
It is forbidden
- To use the machine in a different way to that described above
- To use the machine without the envisaged protections for each operation, or to remove any of these
protections
- To use materials of type and dimensions different from those indicated above.
- TousetoolsnotincludedinprEN847-1standardorhavingdimensionswhicharenotcompatible(seetable
at chapter 4-1)
The user shall be the only person responsible for damage resulting from improper machine use.
OTHER RISKS
Despitehavingobservedallsafetyregulations,andpropermachineuseasdescribedinthismanual,other
risks still remain:
- Contact with tools
- Contact with the rotating spindle
- Contact with the rotating elements (belts, pulleys, rollers)
- Danger from inhaling of dust in the event of machining without dust extraction system
1-5 MACHINE USE WITH REFERENCE TO THE OPERATOR
The control panel features one or more key selector switches.
These switches enable machine use according to precise safe work setting and logics.
These switches must only be used by qualified and expressly authorized personnel. Improper use can cause
precarious machine operating conditions and hazardous situations.
Onceallsettingsandadjustmentshavebeenmadebymeansofthekeyselectorswitches,theexpertoperatormust
remove the keys from the control panel and authorize the production operator to use the machine.
It is also most important to obtain two padlocks to lock the main power switch and the main pneumatic system
valve.
The qualified and authorized operator is responsible for these padlocks and should keep the keys.

Carefully read all the instructions in this booklet before starting the machine.
This machine has been built to provide maximum safety combined with maximum performance.
Themanufacturerdeclinesanyresponsibilityforanychangesmadetothemachinebytheuser,andforanydamage
which could result.
Safetyisultimatelyinyourhands.Theuseofanymachinetoolinvolvescertainrisks.Alwaysbearthisinmind.
PROCEDURES FOR SAFE OPERATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
1- Only persons who have been correctly instructed should use the machine. Instructions should include
information concerning the dangers associated with machine use and the..precautions which have to be
taken.
2- The operator must be trained and instructed on the correct use of guards and safetydevices. He should also
be taught to perform periodical inspections of these guards and safety devices.
3- For safe operation, the area around the machine must be free at all times.
The floor must be level, well maintained and free from all materials like shavings, etc.,
4- There must be sufficient general and localized lighting in the place of work.
5- Semi-finished and finished products must be near the operator’s normal work position.
6- Experience teaches that you often carry or wear objects which can cause accidents:
remove rings, watches, or bracelets; fasten sleeves well around wrists, remove ties which could become
trapped,fastenhairbackwithsuitableaccessories(caps,rubberbands).Apersonalprotectivegarmentmust
be worn. This includes:
- suitable footwear, in accordance with accident-prevention regulations in all countries of the world;
- ear protection, to lower risks of deafness;
- breathing protection, to reduce risks of inhaling harmful dust;
- gloves when handling tools, (tools must be handled using a tool support whenever possible)
- glasses or protective screens to protect the eyes.
7- The operator must never leave the machine unattended during operation;
8- All machine faults, including those to guards or tools, must be reported as soon asthese are discovered and
the necessary remedial measures must be taken.
9- Proceduresmustbefollowedforsafecleaning,maintenance,regularremovalofshavingsanddusttoprevent
firerisks.

MACHINE SAFETY
10- Take every care before starting machine operation
11- Themachinemustneverbeusedunlesstheguardsandothersafetydevicesareinposition,ingoodcondition
andproperlymaintained.
12- Before starting the machine, make sure there are no foreign parts on the worktable.
13- Never work pieces which are too small or too big for the machine.
14- Before fitting blades, planes or cutters in their housings or shafts, make sure all fittingsurfaces are clean,
smooth and perfectly flat.
15- The piece must be suitably supported, if necessary using additional supports, eg. for long........... pieces.
16- The ejection and removal of scraps can be a problem. Scraps must be deviated from thecuttingareaintoa
suitablecontainerwhichmust be periodically emptied.
17- No attempt must be made to remove scraps or other parts of pieces from the work area while the machine
isrunning.
TOOLS
18- Only prEN847-1 approved tools must be used
19- The instructions of the manufacturer or SCM concerning use, settings and repair of toolsmustbecarefully
followed.
20- The speed limit indicated on the tool must be observed.
21- Make sure the blades, the planes and the cutters are perfectly balanced, sharp and accurately keyed and
fastened.
22- Never use bent blades, planes or cutters.
MAINTENANCE SAFETY
23- Ifthemachineisstoppedformakingadjustmentsortoremoveanypart,zero-setthemainswitch,signalthe
factwithanoticeandpadlockthemainswitch.Ifthemachineisfittedwithpneumaticsystem,closethemain
air stopcock, signal the fact with a notice and padlock the stopcock.
24- Completely stop the machine before proceeding to clean and before removing any guards for servicing.
