Manual Metal Arc welding uses an electrode stick to create a contact between
the material to be welded. This is held in place with the stick clamp.
Ensure that power is disconnected before connecting the welding cable (-) and ground cable
(+) to the machine. Ensure they are rmly connected before
1. You can connect the torch and earth clamp to either Positive or Negative Terminals. This is
considered straight or reversed polarity.
Note: Reversed polarity may be better suited for different metal types. Electrodepositive (reversed
polarity) results in deeper penetration. Electrode-negative (straight polarity) results in faster melt-off
of the elect rode and, therefore, faster deposition rate. When welding choose a polarity and if the weld
characteristics are unsuitable, change the polarity.
2. Attach the earth clamp to a conductive connected part of the weld surface.
3. Ground the unit by using the ground connecting screw at the back of the machine and connect
to a grounded metal point free from the weld surface.
4. Plug in the unit to the mains power supply (must be single phase) and switch on the unit.
5. Set the required amps based on the thickness of the metal to be welded.
6. You are now ready to start welding.
Note: An additional isolator switch is recommended when using the machine
1. The machine can perform in environments where conditions are dry with a maximum humidity
level of 90% and an ambient temperature between -10 to +40 degrees centigrade.
2. Avoid welding in direct sunshine or a wet/damp environment. If the machine comes into
contact with water, do not use the machine until it has been fully inspected by a qualified
professional.
3. Do not use the machine in an environment where the air is polluted with conductive dust.

Health and Safety
Warning - Risk of injury. Pay
special attention
Caution - Be aware of potential risks /
hazards
Arc radiation can be harmful to your eyes and can burn your skin.
If you fail to fully understand this manual you should contact the suppliers or another
professional for assistance
• Safety cut out - the welding machine has a safety circuit to protect against excess power,
current or heat. This circuit will cause the welding machine to cut out automatically if activated.
The fans will continue to cool the unit.
• Machine air flow - the internal fan requires a free flow of air. Ensure the intake is not blocked or
covered.
• Do not overload - overloaded input current will impair the performance and may seriously
damage the machine.
• Grounding - the welding machine must be grounded by means of the grounding connector at
the rear of the machine, fitted to ground as per the required standard.
• Cleaning - before cleaning, the power must be turned off and disconnected from the mains. All
cleaning should be carried out by a qualified professional.
Electric shock - may lead to death.
• It is dangerous to touch the electrical components.
• Wear welding gloves, ear, eye, face protection and clothing / ensure others nearby are
protected.
• Use suitable protective equipment or curtain to protect any on-lookers and warn al onlookers
about the possible risk to their eyes.
• Make sure you are well insulated from the ground.
• Gas may be harmful to your health, do not inhale the gas, use an extractor.
• Welding sparks may cause fire, make sure the welding area is fire safe.
Remove dust using low pressure compressed air to avoid damage to fragile
components inside the machine.

Troubleshooting
Fittings, welding materials and environmental factors may affect the quality of your welding. This guide
will help you to ensure your setup is just right to achieve the perfect weld.
Hard to strike / maintain an arc
• Ensure you are using a high quality tungsten electrode.
• Grind the end of the tungsten electrode to a taper. If the tungsten electrode is not ground, it
will be difficult to strike arc or the arc may be unstable.
When MMA welding, there is too much weld
• Ensure that the current used is not too high for the thickness of the welding rod.
There is no power to the unit / no response from the unit
• Ensure that the electric cable is in good condition and connected correctly. Faulty cables must
not be used, they should be replaced by a qualified professional.
The HF arc-striking sound can be heard but there is no welding output
• Check the torch and ground cables to ensure that they are connected correctly and they are not
damaged. Faulty cables must not be used, they should be replaced by a qualified professional.
• Check that the grounding cable is making good contact with the welding object.
• Check the end of the tungsten electrode to see if it needs to be ground down to a taper.
Electrodes that have become contaminated need to be ground down.
