INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on the purchase of your Rebelcell Start, the
lithium-ion battery that has been engineered for use as starter
battery for outboards up to 200 Hp.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS
Your Rebelcell li-ion battery (hereafter battery) has been engi-
neered with a safe and long user life in mind. It is important to
thoroughly review this instruction and follow the safety pre-
cautions. Not doing so may invalidate the warranty and result in
the malfunctioning of your battery and further damage.
• AlwaysusecablesofsucientthicknesswithM5tongue
connectors to safely connect your outboard engine (hereafter
outboard) to the battery for safe use.
• Avoid direct contact of your hands with both battery terminals:
danger of electric shock!
• Avoid reversing the + and – battery terminals when connecting
the battery. This can lead to irreversible damage to your
battery!
• Only use isolated tools when installing your battery. And keep
metal objects, such as jewelry, away from the battery.
• Fixyourbattery(e.g.withxationbands)onavibrationfree
surface to ensure that sliding is impossible. Also ensure that
your battery is placed in a waterproof battery container and/or
on a elevation to ensure that the battery is never partly or fully
in the water on the bottom of your boat. Water damage is
explicitly excluded from the warranty.
• When used outside the permitted standards (e.g. high load)
yourbatterywillautomaticallyturno.Nopowerwillbeavai-
lable until the battery can operate within these standards.
• Avoid damaging the battery by dropping it. In case of external
damage do not use your battery but have Rebelcell check for
proper and safe operation.
• Place the battery in the coolest environment possible. Do not
exposethebatterytosourcesofdirectheatsuchas(open)re,
heating or exposure to direct sunlight for extended periods of
time. Long-term use in high temperatures (> 40 °C) has a
negativeinuenceonservicelife.Atatemperatureof55°C,
the battery will shut itself down until a normal operating temp-
erature is reached.
• Thebatteryisclassiedasdangerousgoodsfortransportation
purposes(ADRClass9).ReviewtheMaterialSafetyDataSheet
(MSDS)onourwebsiteformoreinformation.
• wYour battery may only be opened by Rebelcell for repairs.
GUIDELINES FOR USE
Your battery has been designed for use as starter battery for
outboards up to 200 Hp only. It is NOT suitable to start other
machinery or equipment (such as cars, caravans, RVs, tractors
etc.). It is also NOT suitable as power supply for marine electro-
nics, depth sounders, lighting etc. You always need to connect
such equipment to a separate battery.
INSTALLATION
• Your battery is equipped with screw battery terminals in size
M5.Removetheprotectivecapsonthebatteryterminals
before use and fully charge the battery with the 14.6V3A
battery charger (the battery is not fully charged yet due to
transport and storage requirements).
• Connectyouroutboardcables(withM5tongueconnectors)to
the battery terminals and securely tighten the bolts with a
Phillipsscrewdriver:improperlyxedterminalscanbe
dangerous and generate heat, which can lead to dangerous
situations and damage to your outboard and battery.
Use
The Startcandeliverastarterpulsecurrentof300A(5sat-12°C)
to470A(5sat15°C).Thankstothehighstartercurrent(alsoat
coldtemperatures)andlowself-discharge(<5%permonth)the
Start is the ideal starter battery for all seasons for outboards up
to 200 Hp.
Voltage indicator
The battery features a voltage indicator on the top of the battery
that is activated by pressing the black button. Regularly check
the voltage before use and charge the battery with the battery
chargerifthevoltageisbelow11.5V.Turnthevoltageindicatoro
when the battery is not in use to prevent unintended discharge of
the battery.
Charging
Via the outboard alternator
After you start your outboard the battery is recharged via the
outboard alternator. The voltage regulator in your alternator will
charge the battery with the suitable charge current and voltage
(normal output voltage ~14.4V). The charge current is automati-
cally reduced as the battery is nearly charged and will stop
charging when battery is full. If the regulator does not function
properly your battery can be damaged. Any damages due to a
malfunction of the voltage regulator will void the warranty.
Via the battery charger
Ifthebatteryisdeepdischarged(voltagelowerthan11.5V),for
instance after an extended period of not using your outboard,
you need to charge it with the Rebelcell 14.6V3A battery charger.
Failure to charge the battery with the charger and instead char-
ging with the alternator can damage your battery due to a high
alternator charge current.
Read the warnings on the battery charger before use and follow
the instructions. Connect the battery charger by connecting the
red (+) and black (-) crocodile clamps of the battery charger to the
(+)and(-)M5screwterminalsofthebattery.Connectthepower
cord to the AC-outlet and charging will commence. The charger
LEDs indicate the charging status and the charger will automati-
c-ally stop charging when the battery is fully charged. Unplug the
power cord before disconnecting the charging cables from the
battery.Ifyouuseadierentchargerthewarrantyisvoidif
damage occurs. The batteries cannot be charged at temperatures
below 0 °C.
Storage
When the battery is not in use for extended periods of time we
recommendtochargeitto~12.5Vanddisconnectitfromyour
outboard to prevent accidental discharge. Keep the battery in a
drylocation(above0°C)andturnthevoltageindicatoro.
BMS and safety
TheBMSprotectsyourbatteryandcontributestoalongservice
life.FunctionsoftheBMSareprotectionagainstdeepdischarge,
overcharge, too high or too low temperatures, high currents and
cell balancing. When certain safety thresholds are exceeded, the
battery will shutdown as a precaution and will turn itself on when
thebatteryoperateswithinspecication.Ifthisdoesnothappen
automatically you need to disconnect your outboard in order to
reset the battery. After a few minutes you can reconnect your
equipment.TheactivationoftheBMSmayseemlikeafailure,but
it is not. If it occurs repeatedly this can indicate a malfunction of a
component in your electrical system or overheating of the battery.
If this happens contact your electrician to check your electrical
system.
Warranty
Your battery has a standard 2-year warranty from date of pur-
chase. Other components (e.g. charger, accessories) carry a 1-year
warranty. Refer to our general terms and conditions for detailed
warranty conditions. Please retain and store your purchase re-
ceipt as it is required for warranty claims.

EINLEITUNG
Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Kauf Ihres Rebelcell Start, des
Lithium-Ionen Akkus, der speziell als Starterbatterie für Außen-
bordmotoren bis zu 200 PS entwickelt wurde.
SICHERHEITSVORSCHRIFTEN UND WARNHINWEISE
Ihr Rebelcell Li-Ion Akku (hiernach Akku) wurde mit besonderem
Augenmerk auf eine sichere und lange Lebensdauer entworfen.
Es ist daher wichtig, diese Anleitung sorgfältig zu lesen und den
Gebrauchsanweisungen zu folgen. Das Nichtbefolgen der Sicher-
heits- und Gebrauchsvorschriften kann eine Fehlfunktion des Ak-
kus,sowieSchadenunddenVerfallderGarantiezurFolgehaben.
• BenutzenSieimmerausreichenddickeKabelmitM5-Polan-
schlüssen, um Ihren Außenbordmotor (hiernach ABM) für den
sicherenGebrauchamAkkuanzuschließen.
• Der direkte Kontakt der Hände mit den beiden Polen des Akkus
ist zu vermeiden. Es besteht die Gefahr eines elektrischen
Stromschlags!
• Vermeiden sie ein “umpolen” (verkehren des + und - Pools)
beim anschließen des Akkus.
• Benutzen sie beim Installieren des Akkus ausschließlich
isoliertesWerkzeug.MetallgegenständewieSchmuckvomAkku
fernhalten.
• Stellen sie ihren Akku möglichst vibrationsfrei auf einen festen
Untergrund. Der Akku sollte festmontiert werden, so daß ein
Verschieben unmöglich ist. Achten Sie auch darauf, daß die
Batterie in einem wasserdichten Batteriebehälter und/oder auf
einer Erhöhung platziert wird, so daß die Batterie nie auf dem
Boden im Wasser steht. Wasserschäden sind ausdrücklich
von der Garantie ausgeschlossen. Um Problemen vorzubeugen
empfehlen wir den Akku in einen wasserdichten Akkubehälter
zu geben und / oder erhöht abzustellen, damit der Akku
niemals auf dem Boden im Wasser steht. Ein Wasserschaden ist
von der Garantie ausdrücklich ausgeschlossen!
• Beim Gebrauch außerhalb der gestatteten Normen (z.B. zu
hoheBelastung)wirdsichderAkkuabschalten.Manhatdann
keinen Strom mehr zur Verfügung, bis die normalen Werte
wiederhergestelltsind.
• Beugen sie Beschädigungen am Akku vor, die durch Fallen-
lassen entstehen könnten. Im Fall einer externen Beschädigung
am Akku, sollten sie ihn auf korrekte und sicher Funktion bei
Rebelcellkontrollierenlassen.
• Der Akku darf nicht in der direkten Umgebung von Wärme-
quellenwiebeispielsweise(oenem)Feuer,oderHeizungen
platziert werden. Der Akku sollte in möglichst kühler Umgebung
stehen. Langanhaltender Gebrauch bei hohen Temperaturen
(>40°C)hateinennegativenEinussaufdieLebensdauer.Bei
einerTemperaturvon55°CschaltetsichderAkkuselberab,bis
eine normale Betriebstemperatur erreicht ist.
• Der Akku wird bei Transport als Gefahrengut betrachtet, ADR-
Klasse 9. Schlagen sie für weitere Informationen dazu im
MaterialSafetyDataSheet(MSDS)nach,daßsieaufunserer
Webseitenden.
• Ihr Akku darf zu Reparaturzwecken ausschließlich von Rebelcell
geönetwerden.
GEBRAUCHSRICHTLINIEN
IhreBatterieistfürdieVerwendungalsStarterbatteriefürABM
bis zu 200 PS ausgelegt. Die Batterie ist NICHT zum Starten an-
derer Fahrzeuge oder Geräte (wie Autos, Wohnmobile, Traktoren
usw.) geeignet. Außerdem ist die Batterie NICHT als Stromver-
sorgung für z.B. Echolote, Beleuchtung, Elektronik usw. geeignet.
Sie sollten dieses Gerät daher immer an eine separate Batterie
anschließen.
INSTALLATION
• Ihre Batterie ist mit Schraubanschlüssen (Akku-Polen) in der
GrößeM5ausgestattet.EntfernenSiedieSchutzkappen(falls
vorhanden) an den Batteriepolen und laden Sie die Batterie vor
der Verwendung mit dem 14,6V3A-Batterieladegerät vollständig
auf (aufgrund von Transport- und Lageranforderungen ist die
Batterie nicht vollständig geladen).
• BefestigenSieIhreABM-Verkabelung(mitM5-Kabelösen)an
den Batteriepolen und ziehen Sie die Batterieschrauben mit
einem Kreuzschlitzschraubendreher fest an: falsch angezogene
Pole sind unsicher und können zu hoher Wärmeentwicklung
führen, was zu gefährlichen Situationen und Schäden an Ihrem
ABMundderBatterieführenkann.
Gebrauch
Die Start kanneinenStartstromvon300A(5sbei-12°C)bis470A
(5sbei15°C)liefern.AufgrunddeshohenStartstroms(auchbei
kaltenTemperaturen)unddergeringenSelbstentladung(<5%
proMonat)istdieStartidealalsStarterbatteriefürABMbis200
PS in allen Jahreszeiten einsetzbar.
Spannungsanzeige
Die Batterie hat eine Spannungsanzeige, die sich auf der Ober-
seitederBatteriebendet.UmdenIndikatorzuaktivieren,
drücken Sie die schwarze Taste. Prüfen Sie immer die Spannung
vor dem Gebrauch und laden Sie die Batterie über das Ladegerät
auf,wenndieSpannungunter11,5Vliegt.SchaltenSiedieSpan-
nungsanzeige auf “aus”, wenn die Batterie nicht verwendet wird,
um ein unbeabsichtigtes Entladen der Batterie zu verhindern.
