Lead acid batteries generate explosive gas. They
contain sulfuric acid which is highly corrosive.

TheRescue3100isacommercialgradeportablepowerpackcapableofdelivering
signicantcurrenttoprovidejumpstartingpowerforcars,trucksandcommercialequip-
ment.TheRescue3100provides12Vpower.ItfeaturesSmartPolarityprotection.These
features prevent the power pack from connecting to systems when polarity connections
are incorrect.
The Rescue®3100 Overview

TheRescue3100is
designed to use a sealed

measuring6-1/2"tall,7"
longand3"deepwithtop
terminals, or a standard
U-1battery.QuickCable
recommends that this
installation be performed
by the selling dealer or
trained personnel.
Be Sure to Observe Correct Polarity
•ThecablesinsidetheRescue3100arered(positive)andblack(negative).
•Beforeconnectingtoabattery,doublecheckthebatterymarkings.
•ConnectingabatterybackwardscancausepermanentdamagetoyourRescue3100.
Battery Installation

Openthebackofthebatterycasebypressing
down on the two tabs at the top of the case pan-
el, and pull the panel away from the power pack.
There are two metal brackets attached to the
case with thumbscrews (a Phillips head recess
isprovidedifextraleverageisneeded).Remove
thetwobrackets.Notethatthetopbrackethasa
tab along its top edge.
Connect the red cable to the positive terminal on the battery,
and connect the black cable to the negative terminal on the
battery.PushthebatteryinplaceinsidetheRescue3100
and install the metal retaining brackets. The bracket with the
tabisthetopbracketandthetabwilltoveraU1battery.
Tighten the brackets securely.
ThereisastyrofoamspacerblockinsidetheRescue3100.
IfyouareinstallingaPowerSportsstylebattery,removethe
styrofoam block, install the battery and place the styrofoam
againstthebattery.Securewithretainingbrackets.Ifyouare
installingaU-1battery,removethestyrofoamspacerand
retain for possible future use.
Replacetheplasticbatterycover.

Beforeusingyourportablepower
pack, you should fully charge it.
The digital battery meter will show
when the unit is charging and when
itisfullycharged.Youcancheck
the actual battery voltage any time
by pressing the internal voltage
selector.Rechargeevery30daysor
anytime the internal battery voltage
fallsbelow11.5V.Fluctuationsin
temperature can accelerate battery
discharge. Check your unit often.

charging cord.
1. TurnonthepowerswitchonthebackoftheRescue3100.
2. Checkvehiclebatteryterminalsbeforeusingthepowerpack;cleanthemifnecessary.
3. Connect the red (positive +) clamp to the positive terminal or post on the discharged
battery.
4. Connect the black (negative –) clamp to a ground away from the battery, such as an
alternator bracket.
•Note:Somevehiclesareequippedwithpositiveandnegativestartterminalsaway
fromthebattery.Usetheseterminalswhenavailable.
5. VerifythegreenSmartPolaritylightison.Ifitis,pressStart.Ifitisnot,refertothe
troubleshooting section.
6. VerifythePowerlightison.Theunitisnowsupplyingjumpstartingpowerto
your vehicle.
7. Starttheengine.Afterapproximately6secondsofcontinuouscranking,ifthedisabled
vehicle fails to start, stop and wait for 2 minutes. This prevents damage to your power
pack and to your vehicle’s system from overheating.
8. Turn off the power switch on the back of the power pack and disconnect the clamps,
rstnegativeandthenpositive.Storeclampsproperlyonunit.
9. Rechargepowerpackafteruse.
To use as a 12V Power Source
1. Connectthered(positive+)clamptothepositiveinputterminalandtheblack
(negative –) clamp to the negative input terminal on the device to be powered.
2. VerifythattheLowVoltage/SmartPolarityOfflightisilluminated.
3. PressandholdtheStartbuttonfor4seconds.Thebatterymeterdisplaywillshowa
countdown.
4. VerifythePowerlightison.Thepowerpackisnowsupplyingcurrenttoyourdevice.
5. Turn the unit off by turning the switch on the back of the power pack off, and then
disconnect the clamps.
6. Rechargepowerpackafteruse.
• IftheRescue3100isnotfullychargeditmayshutdownunderheavyloadifitcannot
deliversufcientvoltage.
• Failuretokeepinternalbatterychargedwillleadtopermanentbatterydamage.

To Jump Start a Vehicle or Machine:

The digital display will show the external battery voltage when the power pack is connected.
If the polarity is incorrect on the battery connection, there will be no display. Pressing the in-
ternalbatteryvoltagebuttonwilldisplaytheinternalvoltage.Whenthepowerpackisbeing
recharged, the meter will show charging with the letters CH and animation speed depend-
ingontheamountofcurrentow.Whentheunitisfullycharged,thedisplaywillreadFUL.
TheyellowLowVoltageLEDindicatorlightwillilluminatewhenevertheRescue3100is
turned on and the external voltage at the clamps is low, or they are not connected. This
isnormal.SeethesectiononusingtheRescue3100asa12Vpowersource.Thevolt-
ageindicatingLEDlightswillindicateinternallowbatteryvoltagebyashing.Themore
dischargedtheinternalbatterybecomes,thefasterthelightwillash.Presstheinternal
battery voltage button to see the exact internal battery status.
The12Vauxiliaryoutletisprotectedbya15ampcircuitbreaker,whichresetsautomatically.

Troubleshooting
Problem: Rescue 3100 turns off under load.
• Theinternalbatterymaybelow.
•Checktheinternalbatteryvoltageandrechargeasneeded.
• Extremelyhighcurrentdrawispresent.Thismaybebecausethereisashortcircuit
in the system to be jump started.
•Check the system for short circuits.
• TheloadrequiredmayexceedthecapacityoftheRescue3100.Verylargebatteriesor
battery banks may require recharging, not jump start assistance.
Problem: Green power light fails to light when the start button is pressed.
Unit is sounding a tone.
• Checkthereversepolaritylight.Ifitisilluminated,reversetheclampconnections.
• Theinternalbatteryvoltageisbelow8.5V.Checktheinternalbatteryvoltage,and
recharge the unit.
Problem: The low voltage light is lit and the unit will not engage.
• Thiscanhappenifthebatteryontheunittobestartedisseverelydischarged.
1.Verifythattheclampsareconnectedcorrectly,positivetopositiveand
negative to ground.
2.PressandholdtheStartbuttonfor4seconds.
3.VerifythegreenPowerlightison.Theunitisnowconnected.
Polarity protection is not
available in this mode.
